Chapter 928: Chapter 0560 Running Out of Cards_1 Chapter 928: Chapter 0560 Running Out of Cards_1 Chapter 0560: Exhausting All Tricks

Zhang Ting’s strength was indeed somewhat lacking. Qi Tian had her take the lead, to engage in combat with the snake demon first. After Zhang Ting had handled a single snake demon, she began to falter, panting heavily from exhaustion. Fortunately, she wasn’t injured, but in her condition, it would be difficult for her to fight another one.

Zhang Ting looked at Qi Tian and said, “How about we switch positions? Your combat ability is higher than mine; if you take the lead, we can perhaps improve our efficiency a bit.”

Qi Tian chuckled and replied, “No, you’re much more familiar with this place than I am. Right now, you’re just tired. To put it bluntly, your True Essence is overly depleted, which doesn’t really count for much. Just recover a bit with two middle-grade spirit stones, and you’ll be fine. You’ve just borrowed quite a number of spirit stones from me, so your recovery should be rather swift. As for improving efficiency, are you in a rush?”

Zhang Ting shook her head but mumbled to herself. She had realized that expecting Qi Tian to exert more effort was unrealistic. Instead of wasting her breath trying to motivate Qi Tian to charge forward, she might as well rest and recover as quickly as possible. Reluctantly, she took out two middle-grade spirit stones and began to recover once again.

After some time, Zhang Ting had recovered completely, and the two of them continued along the cave. There was a large number of snake demons here, and they would encounter one after traveling a certain distance. Moreover, the deeper they went, the more powerful the encountered snake demons became. Qi Tian was puzzled why there were so many snake demons here, especially since they seemed to be so scattered. It was indeed odd.

Walking and stopping intermittently, after having killed five or six snake demons, Qi Tian’s spirit couldn’t help but lift. After leaving Xiang Bo behind with Zhang Ting, and being cautious, he had kept the Heavenly Dao Engine’s Spirit Qi sensing function activated the entire time, never daring to turn it off for even a moment after entering the cave. Now, the sensing range of the Heavenly Dao Engine had reached several miles. As long as it was within this distance and there was an entity with Spirit Qi, the Heavenly Dao Engine could detect it clearly.

Up until now, Qi Tian did not detect any particularly valuable targets through the Heavenly Dao Engine. The snake demons that were starting to transform, although at the Foundation Establishment Stage, no longer sparked much interest in Qi Tian. However, he had now detected two unusual sources of Spirit Qi through the Heavenly Dao Engine. Both were relatively strong, and their distances from each other were quite close. Qi Tian was almost certain that the purpose of Zhang Ting bringing him here was related to these two entities, though he wasn’t sure which one exactly.

After eliminating another snake demon, Zhang Ting was utterly exhausted. The battle had been extremely perilous, and she could clearly feel that it had pushed her to her limits. If she encountered another snake demon, she was sure to be injured with her current ability, and that was not something she could simply recover from by holding middle-grade spirit stones.

Zhang Ting glanced at Qi Tian, who showed no intention of stepping forward to take her place. Biting her lip, after using spirit stones to recover her condition, she once again took the lead.

Qi Tian leisurely watched Zhang Ting battle the snake demon. Despite her numerous shortcomings, Zhang Ting had resilience that was genuinely strong. If it were someone else, they might have already begged for mercy or tried to threaten or bribe Qi Tian. Yet Zhang Ting did none of these, and despite knowing she might be injured, she still chose to charge forward. Such a person could certainly achieve something if there were no accidents in the future. However, from Qi Tian’s perspective, such a Zhang Ting was not an ideal collaborator. Her misdeeds were not far behind, and with her resilience, even if Qi Tian had a deal with her and seemingly needed his assistance, one had to be cautious of the possibility of Zhang Ting scheming against him at any moment.

As expected, Zhang Ting’s battle with the snake demon this time was not smooth. Her calf was viciously whipped by the snake demon’s tail, resulting in a bone fracture, and she hobbled as she walked. Mobility was difficult; however, with the help of the spirit crow, she still managed to split the snake demon in two and secured a victory.

Zhang Ting limped to the side of the cave and leaned against the wall. She took out a medicinal pill and swallowed it, affixed a talisman to her injured calf, and then took out two middle-grade spirit stones, planning to recover.

Qi Tian approached with a smile and suggested, “We’ve been in here for quite a while now. I think we need to take a good rest. You rest up and heal. I’ll cook some Snake Soup, and then we can have a nice, full meal before we continue.”

Qi Tian took out pots and pans from his Storage Bag and raised a campfire inside the cave. He chose a few sections of the snake demon carcasses he had collected along the way, cleaned them simply, and then tossed them into the pot to stew.

An hour later, when the Snake Soup was ready, Qi Tian served it up, handing a bowl to both Zhang Ting and the spirit crow. Then, he scooped a bowl for himself and started to eat heartily.

Zhang Ting didn’t fully trust Qi Tian; she waited until he finished his bowl of Snake Soup before she started eating the bowl he had given her. Seeing Zhang Ting begin to eat, the spirit crow also followed suit.
