Chapter 773 - 773 0482 Maybe useful against others_2

Chapter 773: Chapter 0482: Maybe useful against others_2 Chapter 773: Chapter 0482: Maybe useful against others_2 Gao Shen had thought of this as well, saying, “Cultivation actually requires chances and opportunities. I have a method. Depending on the strength of Qi Tian and the others, I’ve devised a method of drawing lots. I wrote their names on slips of paper, rolled them up, and put them in a box. Please, Immortal Masters, each of you pick from it. Whichever name you draw, that’s the person you’ll deal with. This will be your opportunity. I sincerely hope that the elder members present could distribute tasks in this manner. If you refuse, I fear that you all going your separate ways will not only fail to earn merit, but may also cost your own lives. That would be truly regrettable.”

Gao Shen’s words did make some sense. These Gold Core Realm strongmen were not all stubborn, disregarding advice. Especially the last thing Gao Shen said. What they wanted was merit, not to lose their lives on this battlefield reserved for mortals. Thus, after a period of thought, the dozen or so Gold Core Realm strongmen agreed to Gao Shen’s method.

Gao Shen immediately had a box brought over. He took out some slips of paper and wrote the names of Qi Tian and Prince Zhao on them. After rolling them into balls and dropping them into the box, he held the box himself, allowing the Gold Core Realm strongmen present to draw lots.

Though such a method was somewhat childish, no better system that could win over the crowd was found at the moment.

Very soon, the several dozen Gold Core Realm strongmen finished drawing lots. Each one had their own target. Among them, Zhao Haiying drew the lot to deal with Prince Zhao, while three other Gold Core Realm strongmen: Liao Chongru, Zhu Haijun, and Chen Yanting, were assigned to deal with Qi Tian. The rest drew the assignment to deal with Gao Jinmei, Jin Jin, and Wang Youjun. Among these assignments, the one with the most people assigned to it was Gao Jinmei, boasting a total of five people. Jin Jin and Wang Youjun both had two assignees. Furthermore, there was one Gold Core Realm strongman who drew the lot to suppress the formation.

With the tasks for the fourteen Gold Core Realm strongmen allocated, Gao Shen heaved a sigh of relief. He bowed to Zhao Haiying and the others. “Elder members, from this moment on, the fate of the Great Zhao Nation, as well as the safety of the Crown prince, rests on your shoulders. I wish you success in your endeavors. After Qi Tian and Prince Zhao have been assassinated, I will write to the Crown prince, announcing your contributions.”

Zhao Haiying didn’t want to listen to Gao Shen’s drivel. Drawing the task to deal with Prince Zhao had him in a rush. In his eyes, the mission to assassinate Prince Zhao was the simplest. He planned to assassinate Prince Zhao first, then join forces to surround Qi Tian. Only by having both of them die by his hand, could he secure the top spot on the merit list.

Zhao Haiying stomped his foot, and a gust of wind rushed up from beneath. He flew into the sky, headed straight for the frontline of both armies. “Where’s Prince Zhao? I’m here to kill you.”

Following Zhao Haiying, the other thirteen Gold Core Realm strongmen also took flight, heading for the Northern Expedition Army side.

A dozen or so Gold Core Realm strongmen attacking simultaneously was rather shocking. Qi Tian felt his scalp tingle. He had been in big fights before, and had encountered numerous Gold Core Realm strongmen during his battles against the Chi Di. But those had always come piecemeal, not like this mass attack. This was literally life-threatening.

But at this moment, Qi Tian couldn’t retreat. If he did, the Northern Expedition Army would be doomed, as would Prince Zhao. Even the Imperial Master Mansion might suffer. He had put great effort into raising the Northern Expedition Army. It wasn’t for show like becoming ghosts under the blades of the royal army without even fighting a real battle.

“Attack together. Until I order a retreat, stick together and fight to the death.” Without a backward glance, Qi Tian charged into the sky.

Gao Jinmei, Jin Jin, and Wang Youjun also took to the skies, flying towards Zhao Haiying and the others.

Qi Tian headed directly for Zhao Haiying. With his fast flight and formidable strength, Qi Tian couldn’t let him get away.

But Zhao Haiying wasn’t interested in a direct confrontation with Qi Tian at all. He flew around Qi Tian, “Qi Tian, you’re not my opponent. Don’t worry about not having a foe. Your enemy is coming soon.”

Before Qi Tian could figure out what was happening, three Gold Core Realm powerhouses were flying towards him—two males and one female. Coincidentally, all three were at the Third Level of the Gold Core Realm.

“Qi Tian, your opponent is us. If you know what’s good for you, let us kill you quietly, so you won’t suffer later.” The only female cultivator speaking was Liao Chongru, who was at the Third Level of the Gold Core Realm.

At that moment, other Gold Core Realm powerhouses flew in from this area to face Gao Jinmei, Jin Jin, and Wang Youjun respectively.

Qi Tian instantly understood what was happening. He didn’t know who came up with this idea, but he had to admire them. This tactic targeted their weak point — the lack of manpower. It aimed to crush them with numerical advantage. Additionally, Zhao Haiying’s side not only held an advantage in numbers but also in quality. Using the Heavenly Dao Engine’s Spirit Qi sensing function, Qi Tian scanned these Gold Core Realm powerhouses and found that three of them were at the Fourth Level of the Gold Core Realm, and five were at the Third Level.

Among them, Zhao Haiying went to take on Prince Zhao, leaving the other two Fourth Level Gold Core Realm powerhouses; one went to support the formation, the other faced Gao Jinmei. As for the five Third Level Gold Core Realms, three were confronting him, and the remaining two went to deal with Jin Jin and Wang Youjun respectively. They each had their own assistance, none were fighting alone.

In this battle, Qi Tian was well aware of the danger their side was in. One slip could spell doom. He couldn’t help but feel somewhat relieved that he had prepared some lifesaving measures for Gao Jinmei and the others from the get-go, hoping they could hold on a little longer with these measures.

Qi Tian didn’t dare to waste even a second. From the start, he activated the Heavenly Dao Engine to its max. His Linked-Chain Armor was also activated, brandishing the Red Hoop Stick he charged at Liao Chongru and the others.

“Here he comes.” Said Zhu Haijun, who was heading towards Qi Tian’s direction. A bronze mirror appeared in his hand, which burst out into a myriad of piercing beams. Each beam transformed into a steel needle, shooting at Qi Tian like countless arrows fired simultaneously.

These needles were condensed from spirit force, seemingly harmless, but each one packed a sizeable punch, comparable to a full force attack from a late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator. Each needle represented a strike from a late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator. How many of them would the beams equate to?

However numerous the ants, they can kill an elephant. Even a late-stage Gold Core cultivator would have to evade temporarily. This could undermine Qi Tian’s momentum and slow his movements, which would give Zhu Haijun and his team the advantage.

Qi Tian huffed coldly. This trick might work well against others, but not against him.

Qi Tian opened his hand and grabbed at the myriad of incoming beams, immediately releasing a Transporting Whirlwind from an area unseen by Zhu and his companions. It swept up all the rays, which vanished into Qi Tian’s palm.

All this happened in a split second. Zhu Haijun’s carefully planned attack was thwarted by Qi Tian in the blink of an eye.

Before Zhu Haijun could figure out what had happened, Qi Tian, dragging his Red Hoop Stick, was already upon him. Qi Tian swung his stick, knocking the bronze mirror away and following that up with a strike targeted at Zhu Haijun’s chest.

Zhu Haijun’s soul nearly left his body. He tried to retreat, but how could his speed match Qi Tian’s, who had the Heavenly Dao Engine on full throttle? Zhu Haijun was hit by the Red Hoop Stick, half of his chest caved in. He fell from the sky, spraying blood which filled the air like a bloody firework.
