Through a series of questions, Qi Tian had already sensed that the guard seemed to know something. He dispersed the Spirit Qi sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine, covering the entire Four Seas Bank.

Soon, Qi Tian noticed something abnormal in a remote courtyard of the Four Seas Bank, where he sensed the presence of a few cultivators, all of whom were in the Qi Cultivation Period. What puzzled him wasn’t their identites, but the fact that these people didn’t join the commotion he had caused in the bank, where he had fought with Lu Chao and Wu Shenglian and nearly everyone in the bank had come to the scene. These people must have had their reasons for not coming. At this moment, such a reason is worth investigating.

Qi Tian gestured in that direction and said to one of the guards, “Let’s go and check it out.”

The guard’s expression changed slightly, and he said, “Sir, somebody had died there before. It’s inauspicious.”

“We are cultivators; why should we fear that? Let’s go and see.” Qi Tian grabbed the guard’s wrist, disregarding whether he agreed or not, and pulled him towards the corner.

Being in the Qi Cultivation Period, the guard had no way to resist Qi Tian’s powerful grip and could only reluctantly follow Qi Tian’s lead.

Soon, they arrived at an unnoticeable corner in the compound. From a distance, Qi Tian could see that there were about a dozen large boxes stacked up there. He pointed at the boxes and asked, “What’s in there?”

The guard replied, “They’re the property of a regular client stored here at the Four Seas Bank. We have promised that we will only guard them and will not let anyone else touch these items.”

A sneer appeared at the corner of Qi Tian’s mouth, and he asked the guard, “Has anyone ever told you that your heart beats faster when you lie? Tell me the truth, what is really going on with these boxes?”

The guard insisted, “Sir, I really didn’t lie to you.”

Qi Tian snorted coldly, flung the guard away and walked towards the large boxes. The guards in front of the boxes yelled in alarm as they saw Qi Tian approaching.

Qi Tian waved his hand, and suddenly a whirlwind rose up, sending the guards flying. He did not give them a second glance, walked right up to the boxes, stretched out his hand to smash the locks, and lifted the lids of the boxes. Immediately, silver streams of light flashed in the boxes, almost blinding him.

Silver ingots, each weighing fifty taels, filled one of the boxes.

Qi Tian glanced at the other boxes and had a hunch that they were also filled with silver. However, instead of opening them, he called out, “Sir Wu, could you please come here and have a look?”

Upon hearing Qi Tian’s summon, Wu Shenglian hurried over, even bringing Lu Chao with her. Gao Jinmei followed them.

When they arrived, Wu Shenglian immediately noticed the open box and the silver ingots inside. Her complexion changed, and she quickly opened the other boxes to find that they were all filled with silver, just as Qi Tian had guessed.

“Lu Chao, what is going on? Why is there so much silver here?” Wu Shenglian angrily asked.

Lu Chao replied, “These are the items stored by a client. They are not our Four Seas Bank’s reserve silver.”

“You’re talking nonsense. Lu Chao, do you think I’m a fool? Is there any client who would entrust us with almost ten million taels’ worth of silver? And what about these anchor silvers? Why do they bear the mark of our Four Seas Bank? Don’t tell me you thought I couldn’t recognize the anchor silver of the Four Seas Bank?”

An anchor silver is a large amount of silver, often several hundred pounds, melted down and solidified in various shapes that are usually difficult to move or lever, to prevent it from being stolen.

The Anchor Silver of each bank is definitely unique. The appearance of the Four Seas Bank’s Anchor Silver here could only mean one thing — the silver in these wooden boxes likely belonged to the silver reserve that had mysteriously disappeared.

Lu Chao lifted his head; where his eyes should have been were now two blood cavities, making him look somewhat terrifying. A sinister smile flickered at the corners of his mouth as he said, “Indeed, the silver here is the silver from our reserves. But so what? This silver cannot be touched by anyone. They have already been reserved by somebody.”

“Who?” Wu Shenglian demanded.

Lu Chao twisted his head, directing his face and the bloody cavities where his eyes should be towards Wu Shenglian. “Elder Zhang Weimeng.”

“Him?” Wu Shenglian gasped, “Nonsense! Elder Zhang and I are both cultivators at the third level of the Gold Core Realm. What would he want with so much silver? Lu Chao, don’t slander others in order to cover up your own crimes. Do you understand the consequences of such actions?”

Lu Chao retorted, “If you’re asking me for proof, I can’t provide any. But all I have spoken is the truth. Believe it or not, that’s up to you.”

Wu Shenglian’s expression kept changing. She knew all too well who Zhang Weimeng was — a formidable man just like herself, both serving as elders of Four Seas Bank. He was an incredibly aggressive character with substantial strength. Wu Shenglian did not wish to get entangled with such a formidable adversary.

“Lu Chao, there’s no way Elder Zhang would need so much silver. I think you’re just making up stories to cover your own mistakes,” Wu Shenglian questioned, her words loaded with both doubt and self-reassurance.

“I’ve said all that I needed to say. There’s nothing more to be said.” Lu Chao once again hung his head low, deciding to remain silent.

Qi Tian interjected, “Wu Sir, since this batch of silver indeed belongs to your Four Seas Bank’s reserves, can it be fully exchanged to me now? I still need to go back and rescue my Martial World. The reputation of your Four Seas Bank is illustrious. I hope you won’t dissapoint me.”

With a moment’s hesitation, Wu Shenglian responded, “Very well. If you really need it, our Four Seas Bank will exchange the silver with you in full. Someone, count the silver for the Sir.”

As soon as Wu Shenglian gave the order, people immediately came forward to count the silver and exchange it for silver notes for Qi Tian.

The silver here was plentiful, and there were enough personnel. In no time, nearly ten million tales of silver that Four Seas Bank ought to pay Qi Tian were all exchanged and taken away by him, including the anchor silvers, each several hundred pounds in weight.

Receiving the required amount of silver, Qi Tian was immensely satisfied. He gave when Wu Shenglian a polite bow and left with Gao Jinmei, Jin Jin, and Marquis Ma.

Watching as Qi Tian and the others left, Lu Chao turned to Wu Shenglian and said, “It was Elder Zhang who specifically wanted me to keep this silver. Wu Elder, you so lightly let Qi Tian take away everything. I wonder how you are going to explain it to Elder Zhang.”

Wu Shenglian grunted dismissively, retorting, “So you think I would be scared of Zhang Weimeng? Lu Chao, you should worry about yourself. You’ve used Four Seas Bank’s silver to gain favor with Elder Zhang. When the headquarters of Four Seas Bank finds out, I wonder how they will deal with you? Perhaps, considering your loyalty, they might even treat your eyes.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Chao’s face turned sullen.

Looking at Lu Chao, Wu Shenglian snorted coldly and angrily walked away. Once she reached a location where nobody else could see her, she released a Message Paper Crane recounting her encounter of the day. She was unsure and needed to consult someone enlightened.

Not long after Qi Tian’s departure, a mighty-looking man stepped into the courtyard of the Four Seas Bank. A thunderous voice erupted from him as soon as he crossed the threshold, bellowing, “Where’s my silver? Bring it to me, now.”
