Chapter 689 - 689 0440 You Should Know_2

Chapter 689: Chapter 0440 You Should Know_2 Chapter 689: Chapter 0440 You Should Know_2 Gao Jinmei really had such a pill. Being an assassin, she had been in all sorts of scenarios and prepared a fair amount of limb-regrowth pills. She would not usually offer anyone such precious items, but she couldn’t refuse Qi Tian’s request, so she handed a pill to Marquis Ma, saying, “Ten low-grade spirit stones, Sir. If you have them, give them to me now. If you don’t, you can pay me back later.”

“Please, be at peace. I will certainly deliver ten low-grade spirit stones to you as swiftly as possible.” After expressing his gratitude towards Gao Jinmei, Marquis Ma received the pill from her and was ready to swallow it immediately.

Qi Tian said, “Hold on, keep the pill for now and not use it yet. We are going to get justice for you. If your arm grows back, how would we explain it? Take it when we get back.”

Marquis Ma had no choice but to tuck the pill away. Then, he followed Qi Tian and left Wangdu County to head towards Red Sand City.

Red Sand City is a county city. In the strictest sense, even Wangdu County is under Red Sand City’s jurisdiction. Since Qi Tian stationed in Wangdu County, tens of thousands of troops poured into the county, and numerous cultivators gathered here. Red Sand City was under enormous pressure and was heavily populated by those who were loyal to the Crown Prince, with battalions and assorted cultivators waiting to fight Prince Zhao’s troops.

Red Sand City has enhanced the scrutiny of individuals entering and exiting the city gates. When Marquis Ma entered the city, he circumvented the city gates and entered the city using the cultivators’ means.

Qi Tian’s visit was to get justice, not to conquer Red Sand City. He too came in avoiding the city gates which, for Qi Tian and his party, was pretty straightforward.

The Four Seas Bank, as one of the highly reputed banks of Great Zhao Nation, occupied an extended frontage on a busy commercial street in Red Sand City. Their establishment was opulent and thriving.

Qi Tian marched along, leading the group with Marquis Ma closely behind him. Following them were Gao Jinmei and Jin Jin.

Marquis Ma had just left the Four Seas Bank the previous day having built reputation there for his scam. The branches of Four Seas Bank may not be familiar with him, but everyone at the Red Sand City branch knew him well. They saw him as a con artist who tried to defraud the bank with counterfeit silver notes.

Seeing Marquis Ma show up there again, the guard at the entrance was immediately excited. In his eyes, Marquis Ma was a rush of achievement points. If he manages to capture Marquis Ma, the guard was sure of tremendous benefits.

The guard did not even rise to give notice; instead, he wielded his knife at Marquis Ma and said, “Audacious fraud, you dare to attempt to swindle the Four Seas Bank again! Today, I must capture you. There’s no place left for you to run.”

With that, the guard rushed over with his knife. There was no ordinary person serving as a guard in the Four Seas Bank. This one, in particular, was a body cultivator with power on par with the Late Stage of Qi Cultivation, which made him formidable.

Seeing the guard lunging at Qi Tian with his knife, Jin Mei gave a cold snort. As the guard approached, he stepped forward and kicked.

His kick landed straight on the guard, sending him flying like a ragged sack. The man flew straight into the entrance wall of the Four Seas Bank, collapsing it. He met his end then and there.

This incident infuriated the other guards at the Four Seas Bank. Someone had dared to cause trouble at their premises and killed their colleague had committed an unforgivable sin. Such a person could not be pardoned; he had to be seized and beaten to death to avenge their fallen associate.

Immediately after, dozens of guards rushed out, not even bothering to interrogate. Instead, they began attacking Qi Tian and his group.

Without exception, all these guards were low-level cultivators, either Qi Cultivators or its equivalent body cultivators. They all appeared fierce and murderous; it seemed as though each of them had killed before.

Qi Tian frowned slightly, he said, “Not a single one of them is respectable, they are all troublemakers, we can’t let them live, kill them all.”

With just a short sentence from Qi Tian, the fate of these guards was decided. Gao Jinmei didn’t even have to lift her hand. Jin Jin pulled out a magical artifact. She activated it with a spirit rune. The artifact released countless golden lights, each beam transformed into a flying sword. They rose and fell in the air, and with each rise and fall, a guard fell in a pool of blood, dead to the world.

In no time, the guards who had rushed towards Qi Tian’s group were all wiped out. Not a single one was left alive. The streets were filled with a pungent smell of blood, turning them into rivers of blood, painting a picture right out of hell itself.

“Stop, stop right now.” A voice filled with one third anger, and one third panic, echoed from within the Four Seas Bank.

Upon hearing this voice, a bone-deep hatred flashed in Marquis Ma’s eyes, “Master, that man is Lu Chao, the manager of the Red Sand City’s branch of the Four Seas Bank.”

Following Marquis Ma’s introduction, Lu Chao ran out from the Four Seas Bank. He looked to be in his forties, sporting a Squire’s cap and a small beard on his chin, appearing both genial and shrewd.

At first glance, Qi Tian could tell that Lu Chao was no ordinary man, but was, in fact, a cultivator at the half-step Golden Core stage. In the Great Zhao Nation, possessing such a cultivation level meant considerable strength. Qi Tian couldn’t help but wonder why such a strong cultivator would choose to be just a branch manager of the Four Seas Bank. This was rather unusual.

There were several cultivators behind Lu Chao, and their strengths seemed to be not weak, possibly at the mid to late Foundation Establishment stage.

Lu Chao glanced at the guards lying in pools of blood outside the Four Seas Bank and a hint of anger flashed deep in his eyes. However, being a rational person, he did not express his anger and shifted his gaze to Qi Tian’s group. His eyes paused on Marquis Ma and finally landed on the lethal Jin Jin.

“Sir, I am not sure how my men have offended you to deserve such a severe response?” Lu Chao did his best to appear calm, but with so many lives lost at once, his voice couldn’t possibly sound completely calm.

Jin Jin did not even spare Lu Chao a glance. Although she was only at the first level of the Golden Core Realm, which only seemed to be a half level higher than Lu Chao’s half-step Golden Core, only those who had truly crossed that boundary knew how difficult that small leap was. For most cultivators at the half-step Golden Core, the difficulty was greater than all the challenges they had faced in their cultivation before.

Unless a miracle happened, Lu Chao could forget about crossing that threshold in his lifetime. For such a person who had no potential, and had offended her master, why would she bother wasting time even glancing at him?

“Master, as you commanded, there were twenty-seven people who rushed at you, all have been killed.” Jin Jin reported.

Qi Tian nodded in acknowledgment.

It was only then that Lu Chao realized Qi Tian was the person in charge. He turned his head, taking a look at Qi Tian and deep within his eyes, a wave of extreme shock flashed. However, when he saw Marquis Ma, there was a flash of disdain in his eyes. But Lu Chao hid both expressions well. He saluted Qi Tian and asked, “May I ask your name, sir?”

Qi Tian smiled, pointing to Marquis Ma beside him, he said, “You should know who I am, of course, it doesn’t matter if you don’t. It won’t affect what I plan to do next. Lu Chao, tell me, you should know who this person is beside me, right?”

There was a flicker in Lu Chao’s eyes as he replied, “I know him. He came to me yesterday with silver notes worth five million taels, wanting to exchange them.”
