Chapter 623 - 623 0407 Destroying the Royal Court (Part 3)_2
Chapter 623: Chapter 0407: Destroying the Royal Court (Part 3)_2 Chapter 623: Chapter 0407: Destroying the Royal Court (Part 3)_2 Gao Jinmei is an assassin from Wanxue Tower in Wanjie City. She normally doesn’t excel at direct combat. Master Helian, however, is merely at the Gold Core First Level, and not even a strong one at that. Coupled with the fact that he lacks good cultivation methods and magical tools, Gao Jinmei was able to take him down easily during their confrontation.
Gao Jinmei licked the blood from her dagger and said, “Listen to me, all the cultivators of Chi Huo City, especially you Gold Core Stage ones. I’m telling you, whoever dares to stand in our way again, I will send him off to accompany Master Helian, it would be a pity for him to be lonely on his way.”
Seeing Gao Jinmei like this, the Foundation Establishment Stage cultivators who were chasing her were frightened. They thought they could easily bully her as she seemed like an easy target. They never imagined Gao Jinmei could be so formidable. If she’d used the same tactics against them that she used against Master Helian, how many of their heads could she have taken?
“Don’t you think what you guys are doing is too much?” A disembodied voice suddenly echoed. The sound was elusive, coming from one side one moment and then switching to the other the next, making it impossible to pinpoint its source.
Gao Jinmei instantly became alert. In her past assassinations, she dreaded encountering targets who were hard to locate. It made her extremely passive and a single lapse could turn her from the hunter to the hunted.
Qi Tian had already ceased his attack. When Master Helian first appeared, the Foundation Establishment or Half-step Gold Core Chi Di cultivators stopped surrounding him. He too had heard the elusive voice. A faint smile appeared on his face; this technique might fool others, but there was no way it could deceive him. With the Heavenly Dao Engine’s ability to sense Spirit Qi, he had already identified the source of the voice.
Qi Tian communicated telepathically to Gao Jinmei. “Look to your right, the third courtyard, there’s a loft. Inside that loft is a short, fat man, he’s the one messing around.”
Gao Jinmei was unsure why Qi Tian was so confident, but she knew anyone could potentially deceive her, but Qi Tian had no reason to lie to her now. With a flash, she dashed towards the loft. At first, the loft stayed quiet, but just as Gao Jinmei was about to enter, a short, fat figure bolted out through a window, fleeing like a mouse spotted by a cat.
“Bold fellow, daring to trick me like that. Today I’ll peel off your skin!” Gao Jinmei was in hot pursuit. She despised guys who challenged her dignity. If the world were full of such people, how could she continue her career as an assassin?
The short and fat Chi Di cultivator was also a Gold Core power, skilled at not only controlling his voice but also surprisingly fast. Gao Jinmei found herself unable to catch up with him for a time.
The short and fat cultivator flew ahead while Gao Jinmei chased from behind. Just like that, they headed out of Chi Huo City. Their fleeing speed was so incredible that in a blink of an eye, they became two tiny dots in everyone’s view and then disappeared.
At first, the Chi Di cultivators were worried about the short fat cultivator being caught by Gao Jinmei. But then they realized, Gao Jinmei and Qi Tian were a duo. If Gao Jinmei had been led away, wouldn’t Qi Tian end up isolated?
They recognized Gao Jinmei was formidable, something they didn’t expect, but they didn’t believe Qi Tian could be just as formidable.
Three figures then flew out from Chi Huo City. The three of them surrounded Qi Tian, creating a triangular encirclement. As soon as these three appeared, a gasp of surprise went through Chi Huo City.
These three held big reputations among the Chi Di cultivators. They were all without exception Gold Core powerhouses. The most powerful among them was at the Gold Core Second Level, known as Master Ju, the only National Master of the Chi Di. The other two, Liu Mingkai and Wang Lidan, were both at the Gold Core First Level. They were also highly regarded figures among the Chi Di cultivators.
These three were like the anchors of the Chi Di. Their appearance caused an uproar among the Chi Di cultivators at the scene.
Master Ju stared at Qi Tian, saying, “If I’m not mistaken, you’re the Qi Tian who has turned the Great Zhao Nation upside down? You left Zhao behind, aiding Prince Zhao to seize the position of the Crown Prince, now you visit us Chi Di people to cause havoc and flaunt your violence. Don’t you think you’re going too far?”
Qi Tian snorted, saying, “Originally, I had no intention of causing a ruckus here in Chi Di, but what else could I do when all you people are as savage as rabid dogs? You actually hatched this ludicrous plan to take advantage of the gap in the defenses at the Tongmen West Pass to invade Great Zhao with a hundred-thousand-strong army, causing murder and arson, looting people and property. Aren’t you telling the common people of Great Zhao that all the suffering they endure is my fault, Qi Tian? I can’t possibly let you succeed.”
Listening to Qi Tian’s words, Master Ju could only offer a bitter smile. He was aware of the Royal Court’s decision to launch an attack on the Tongmen West Pass with a force of a hundred thousand soldiers. At the time, he didn’t see anything wrong with it – Chi Di and Zhao had always been enemies, wasn’t it just right to strike when the military strength at the Tongmen West Pass was at its weakest? He never imagined that such a strategically correct decision would bring about such a calamity for Chi Di.
“Sir Qi Tian, this is all just a misunderstanding. I will have the Khan issue an order to recall the army immediately. Is that acceptable?” asked Master Ju.
Qi Tian shook his head, “No need, it’s too late. The army of a hundred thousand bandits that invaded the borders of my Great Zhao nation, Gao Jinmei has already killed over fifty thousand for me, leaving no cultivator survivors from their ranks.”
The color drained from Master Ju’s face, and the other two Gold Core cultivators also pale in alarm. Many of the cultivators that accompanied the army were their own disciples and proteges, all ruthlessly killed by Gao Jinmei.
“Qi Tian, you truly are ruthless,” said Master Ju.
“No, I’m not ruthless enough, or rather, I haven’t been ruthless enough to make you fear me, to make you tremble at the mere mention of my name.” Qi Tian answered coldly, “This time, I’ve made up my mind. I’ll make you pay for the injustices endured by the souls of the Zhao people who died under the hooves of your Chi Di cavalry over the years. Since you can invade Zhao, kill and loot, then we people of Zhao can do the same.”
“Qi Tian, what are you planning to do?” Master Ju’s face subtly changed as he asked.
“To kill all the Chi Di’s Gold Core cultivators and wipe out the Royal Court,” Qi Tian answered casually.
The faces of Master Ju and the other Gold Core cultivators changed drastically. They had just witnessed the murderous intent in Qi Tian’s eyes. Now, he was not even trying to hide it anymore.
“Qi Tian, initially I planned to negotiate peacefully with you to resolve our personal grudges. But since you’re intent on annihilating us and the Royal Court, there can be only one outcome. Fellow cultivators, let’s do this together,” yelled Master Ju.
The two Gold Core cultivators standing with Master Ju pulled out an Array Flag each. A wave in the air and a golden barrier rose, encapsulating both them and Qi Tian.
Master Ju and his fellows worried that their combined force would scare Qi Tian away. A person like Qi Tian had to be killed; they absolutely couldn’t let him escape or leave injured. They had to do everything possible to kill him, giving him no chance to turn the tables. Otherwise, if Qi Tian managed to return in the future, the Chi Di cultivators would have to suffer significant losses again.
“Qi Tian, let’s settle this here and now,” said Master Ju.
