Chapter 619 - 619 0405 Destroying the Royal Court (Part 2)
Chapter 619: Chapter 0405: Destroying the Royal Court (Part 2) Chapter 619: Chapter 0405: Destroying the Royal Court (Part 2) This time, Qi Tian did not deliberately slow down. Once the bronze crane statue was given full rein, it still moved fast. After less than half a day, Qi Tian was able to look down from above and easily spot the retreating Chi Di army. They were attacked last night and even now, after about a dozen hours, the majority of which were in darkness, how far could they run with their own two legs and a horse at most?
“Master, shall we take care of them?” Gao Jinmei, looking at the disorderly Chi Di people, asked, eager to take action.
Qi Tian shook his head, saying, “They’re all small fries. Killing them won’t change the overall situation. This time, we’re going after something bigger.”
Gao Jinmei thought that Qi Tian was planning to slaughter a city, and she instantly became excited. In the past, as a powerful cultivator at the Gold Core Third Level, she didn’t mind killing mortals who offended her. However, she would never have considered mass murder or city slaughtering; it didn’t bring any benefits. But now the situation was different. Killing mortals might possibly earn her a reduction in punishment from Qi Tian, so she was naturally eager to seize any chance she could get, hence the unusual enthusiasm.
Qi Tian glanced at Gao Jinmei, shaking his head internally. He could guess part of what Gao Jinmei was thinking, but she was oversimplifying things. A “reduction in punishment”, especially one that was agreed upon so easily, wasn’t necessarily forthcoming. Even if Qi Tian were to reduce her punishment, he wouldn’t do so lightly, and he certainly wouldn’t reduce it by much each time. He wouldn’t let her off the hook so easily and reduce her servitude to nothing. After all, Gao Jinmei now was Qi Tian’s best card, and he wouldn’t let her go easily until he found a replacement or an alternative plan.
As he flew over the heads of the fleeing Chi Di soldiers, Qi Tian followed the river upstream. After flying for nearly half a day and covering probably more than 1,500 kilometers, Qi Tian saw that something was different up ahead.
It was a city, or rather, the first city established in Chi Di history. The Chi Di people were traditionally nomadic, roaming from place to place. However, they had recently begun trying to settle down, and this city was constructed after a great deal of time and money investment as an endeavor toward that goal. It was also where the Chi Di’s Royal Court was located, and their king, or emperor, resided within this city.
The Chi Di people named this city Chi Huo City. Though it couldn’t be compared to cities within Great Zhao in terms of scale, it still boasted a population of over a million, making it the most densely populated area in Chi Di territory.
Upon arrival, Qi Tian rode the bronze crane statue lower and arrogantly stood on its back, flying in circles over Chi Huo City.
Qi Tian’s behavior could be considered incredibly disrespectful. This was the residence of the highest-ranking Chi Di people, and yet here he was, flying over their heads, a blatant provocation of their dignity.
Someone couldn’t stand it any longer. As Qi Tian neared a section of the city wall, the Chi Di soldiers on the wall fired arrows at him, hoping to shoot him out of the sky.
“Gao Jinmei, I leave this to you.” Qi Tian calmly stated.
“Alright.” Losing patience, Gao Jinmei had been itching to take action. The moment she got Qi Tian’s approval, she threw a fireball at the Chi Di soldiers on the city wall without hesitation.
This wasn’t an ordinary fireball but one created by a Gold Core powerhouse. When the fireball reached above the heads of the Chi Di soldiers, it exploded into a rain of fire, setting all the soldiers’ clothes alight. Suddenly, those archers who were just shooting their arrows at Qi Tian and Gao Jinmei started screaming in agony as they fell to the ground. Some of their comrades rushed to help, only to be caught up in the fire rain and end up agonizingly writhing on the ground as well.
“You two, who are you? How dare you set fire and hurt people in Chi Huo City?! Do you truly believe we Chi Di people are a deserted wasteland for cultivators, where you Great Zhao’s cultivators can swagger about unchallenged?”
The speaker was a cultivator in the late stages of Foundation Establishment. Although he looked young, a closer look would reveal his true age. In other words, he was an old cultivator who appeared young.
“Master, do you want to take action, or should I?” Gao Jinmei asked.
“You go ahead. I won’t bother until we encounter someone of the Gold Core Stage.” Qi Tian responded with a faint smile.
Gao Jinmei immediately rushed towards the cultivator blocking their way, who was in the late Foundation Establishment stage – a high level in this sky. Before Luo Xia and others had broken through to the Pseudo Core Realm, their cultivation realm was probably the same. This stage is quite common among the masters of the Foundation Establishment Stage; they were in a very awkward position, neither advancing nor retreating.
The cultivator at the Foundation Establishment stage looked at Gao Jinmei flying towards him with a touch of disdain, saying: “Let that man come, I want to talk to him.”
“All right, I’ll send you to him.” Gao Jinmei reached out towards the cultivator at the Foundation Establishment stage. She did not make any more movements, yet she effortlessly caught him in her hand. In the hands of Qi Tian, he was merely a chick, a newly hatched one at that, completely unable to resist.
Gao Jinmei did not just arbitrarily catch him, she not only easily caught him, but also imposed countless restrictions inside his body. At this time, this cultivator of the Foundation Establishment stage no longer had any power of a cultivator.
“Master. He is looking for you.” Holding the cultivator of the Foundation Establishment stage, Gao Jinmei said: “He wants to talk to you, I will bring him to see you.”
Qi Tian waved his hand and said: “I don’t have time to see any small potato, kill him and spare us the trouble.”
“You can’t kill me, I am …”
“Before he could say who he was, Gao Jinmei tightened her grip, effortlessly turning him into a puff of blood mist in silence, a sight really intimidating.”
“Cultivators of Chi Huo City, hear me, if you don’t want to die, stay in your homes and play dead. If anyone refuses to listen and insists on coming out, don’t blame us for carving a bloody path.” Qi Tian declared loudly.
Qi Tian’s words indicated that he didn’t regard the cultivators of Chi Di at all. Gao Jinmei, standing next to Qi Tian, had shown her hand, which was visually shocking. But this did not scare the cultivators, especially the proud ones who considered themselves invincible among the Chi Di, thought they shouldn’t be cowards at this time.
Thus, after Qi Tian’s warning was issued, the number of cultivators blocking the way did not decrease, instead it increased. In the blink of an eye, more than a hundred cultivators from Chi Di appeared in the sky. Most of them were quite close in their level of cultivation, either in the late stage of Foundation Establishment or at the Foundation Establishment Peak.
Such a large number of cultivators at the Foundation Establishment stage gathering together was quite a terrifying thing. Not everyone can face hundreds of cultivators at the Foundation Establishment stage, especially when most of them were in the late stage of Foundation Establishment or at the peak. Even a typical Gold Core powerhouse would avoid confronting them directly.
But these Chi Di cultivators surely made a mistake this time. Neither Qi Tian nor Gao Jinmei were ordinary cultivators. The latter was formally at the third level of the Gold Core stage and the former was even more powerful, surpassing Gao Jinmei. If these hundred Chi Di’s cultivators thought that they could scare Qi Tian, they were truly wishful thinking.
