Chapter 610: Chapter 0401: Fierce Battle (Bottom) Chapter 610: Chapter 0401: Fierce Battle (Bottom) Chapter 0401: A fierce battle (continued)

The barefoot male cultivator let out a roar. This roar, unlike the previous one he made when transforming, was orderly and rhythmic, much like a summoning call.

A chill ran down Qi Tian’s spine, and he increased both the speed and frequency of his attacks. He wasn’t sure if the barefoot male cultivator was summoning his companions, but he was already having a tough fight. If more enemies were to join the fray, he wouldn’t be able to hold on by himself.

The barefoot male cultivator picked up on Qi Tian’s shifting mindset from the rhythm of his attacks.

A sinister smile spread across the barefoot male cultivator’s face. He taunted, “Qi Tian, what good is your endurance and resistance? How can it help you against despair?”

“Die!” was Qi Tian’s only response, expressed through his fists.

This time the barefoot male cultivator didn’t meet Qi Tian’s punch head-on. His body shook and the ragged clothes covering him disintegrated into fragments floating in the air. Each fragment turned into a blood-red bat the size of a washbasin, shrouded in black smoke. They screeched as they fluttered their wings and lunged at Qi Tian, silently.

The spirit Qi fluctuations emitted by these Blood Bats were just as strong as a Foundation Establishment Peak, and there were dozens of them. When they attacked Qi Tian in unison, the scene was absolutely terrifying. Even the barefoot male cultivator himself wouldn’t want to resist such an attack head-on as it wouldn’t be a wise move.

Qi Tian remained calm. He swiped his hand over the Wuhang Ring and a Qimei Stick appeared. Qi Tian’s favourite weapon for battles was the Red Hoop Stick, but the barefoot male cultivator had knocked it out of his hands earlier, forcing him to use his spare.

Although the spare Qimei Stick was inferior in quality compared to the Red Hoop Stick, it was still a formidable weapon. Gripping the stick in both hands, Qi Tian aimed it at an oncoming Blood Bat, smashing it into pieces. Then he flicked the stick to one side, causing another bat to let out a shrill cry…

While Qi Tian was occupied battling the Blood Bats, the barefoot male cultivator took the opportunity to regain his strength. He retrieved a giant barrel from his Storage Bag and smashed it open, releasing a strong, nose-twisting smell of blood.

But to the barefoot male cultivator, the smell was fragrant as fine wine. He lifted the barrel, allowing the crimson liquid inside to flow out, which he guzzled down like a man drinking wine. The liquid was a mixture of cultivators’ fresh blood and flesh and fermented with precious natural treasures. It was the best restorative for a Corpse Cultivator like him. The barrel of blood potion required the lives of hundreds of cultivators.

With the fresh blood now in his stomach, the barefoot male cultivator quickly recovered from the physical and vital energy depletion caused by his fistfight with Qi Tian. By the time Qi Tian finished off the Blood Bats, the barefoot male cultivator had regained his peak condition.

The barefoot male cultivator casually discarded the empty barrel, licked the corner of his mouth smeared with blood, looked at Qi Tian, and then glanced at the horizon. Dust clouds were rising from the ground in the distance and more than a dozen dark spots were rapidly approaching in the sky.

“Ha! Ha! Qi Tian, I’ve regained my peak form, and my Zombie Demonic Beasts and Zombie Slaves have responded to my call. They’re all on their way here. I can’t wait to see how you’re going to escape from my grasp today!” the barefoot male cultivator laughed smugly.

Qi Tian looked in the direction of the advancing Zombie Demonic Beasts and Zombie Slaves. The number and types of creatures did not match the group the barefoot male cultivator had brought with him when he attacked Wangdu County, leading him to believe these must be reinforcements the barefoot male cultivator had in reserve and had now decided to reveal.

Qi Tian’s face turned grave. This was the biggest crisis and enemy he had ever faced in his life. A wrong move could result in dire consequences. Of course, if Qi Tian decided to make a run for it, there was a more than fifty percent chance he could escaped from the barefoot male cultivator. But as they say, you might escape the monk, but you cannot escape the temple. Unless he could turn his back on the people and things of the Great Zhao, simply fleeing wasn’t an option.

Swiftly, Qi Tian released a Transmission Talisman; it was time to call for backup.

The barefoot male cultivator allowed the Message Paper Crane to fly away. “Get some help if you want,” he taunted, “I’ll catch you and all your accomplices in one fell swoop.”

Seeing that Qi Tian had no response, the barefoot male cultivator continued to taunt, “Come on, Qi Tian. Weren’t you enjoying punching me earlier? Let’s continue.”

Just like the barefoot male cultivator, Qi Tian’s energy had also greatly depleted. However, the Heavenly Dao Engine was part of him and not only could it enhance his strength and speed, but it could also replenish his lost energy to a certain extent. This meant he could still hold up for a while during high-intensity battles.

However, even if Qi Tian could emerge victoriously through such a stalemate, it would be a Pyrrhic victory, hardly beneficial for him. Plus, he couldn’t be sure if the barefoot male cultivator had other tricks up his sleeve. For instance, if he were to regain his energy and vital blood with another barrel of blood potion after another round of fistfight, all of Qi Tian’s efforts would have been in vain.
