Qi Tian’s gaze swept over the flag of Wanjie Commerce. Although the flag of Wanjie Commerce looked luxurious and exquisite, Qi Tian absolutely did not think it was the best among the dozen or so flags fluttering in the sky. Almost instinctively, he used the Heavenly Dao Engine to sense the Spirit Qi of these flags, and quickly found that at least two of the flags were not weaker than that of Wanjie Commerce. In addition, one seemingly unremarkable flag contained a Spirit Qi that was decidedly superior to all other flags.
It was a dull gray flag that looked as if it hadn’t been washed for many years. It was embroidered with a black flood dragon that looked listless and lacked spirit. Yet, this inglorious flag fluttered in the center of all the other flags, signifying that the power it represented occupied the very center of the platform. It was likely the most formidable force in Wanjie Commerce.
Although Qi Tian had been in and out of Wanjie City many times, his activities there were limited, so he was unaware of many things about Wanjie City. For example, he did not know what factions these flags represented. He was even ignorant of the larger, powerful factions in Wanjie City that could not be trifled with.
Qi Tian mentally cataloged each flag, then flew down to Wanjie Commerce’s camp, following Lin Youbi. They weren’t the first explorers to arrive here. Before them, passengers from several flying ships had already arrived. While Qi Tian was in the sky, he realized that it was tough to find a decent place to settle, and so he just picked a spot and landed.
“Stay here and wait patiently. When the moon is full at night, you can enter the secret realm. Until then, behave yourselves, don’t cause trouble, and don’t invite trouble for yourselves.” After reminding Qi Tian and the others, Lin Youbi left. As a Gold Core cultivator, he could not enter the secret realm. However, for the safety of the explorers, he would stay until night, waiting until Qi Tian and the others entered the secret realm before leaving.
Although the explorers couldn’t leave the camp, there was still plenty to do. Those who were part of a team needed to assemble their members; those without a team took this last chance before entering the secret realm to see if they could form a team.
Qi Tian initially had some inclination to form a team, but after the series of events on the flying ship, he dismissed the idea. Given the unpredictable nature of people’s hearts, it was more convenient to act alone.
Hu Niu lay down, and Qi Tian sat down with his back against her. It was noisy here and unsuitable for anything, so he lifted his head and watched the flags in the sky.
Just then, a cultivator walked over, a happy smile on his face. “Sir,” he said, “we meet again. I was worried just now that I wouldn’t be able to find you.”
Qi Tian turned his head and saw that the person who came over was Che Long’an. When their flying ship was ambushed by a demonic bird, Che Long’an answered the captain’s call to fight and was saved by Qi Tian from the claws of the demonic bird.
“Sit.” Qi Tian casually pointed to the empty ground next to him.
Che Long’an sat down without leaning against Hu Niu like Qi Tian. He knew that many pets were quite wary of strangers. They recognized no one except their master. “Sir,” he asked, “why are you so leisurely? Didn’t you see everyone forming teams? Why aren’t you moving? Are you planning to go it alone?”
Qi Tian smiled and said, “I have my own plan. What about you, where are your teammates?”
Che Long’an pointed in a direction. “My teammates are over there. I saw you here, sir, and thought I would come and say hello.”
“That’s thoughtful of you.” Qi Tian pointed to the flags in the sky. “I’m not very familiar with these flags. You know which faction each of them represents, right? Could you tell me about them?”
Che Long’an replied: “Sir, you are not a local cultivator from Wanjie City, are you? Otherwise, you wouldn’t be unaware of the most powerful factions in our Wanjie City. Fortunately, I have some free time, so let me explain. We don’t need to talk about the flag above our heads, which represents Wanjie Commerce. The gray flag embroidered with a flood dragon represents the most powerful force in Wanjie City, the Ink Flood Dragon Association. They have over a hundred thousand cultivators under their command, including at least three Nascent Soul Masters. It is said that the association has tamed a divine beast, the flood dragon depicted on the flag. But whether this is true or not, nobody knows. At least since my great grandfather’s generation, no one has seen the divine beast of the Ink Flood Dragon Association. Regardless, even without the flood dragon, the association’s three Nascent Soul Masters alone make it dominant in the entire Wanjie City.”
After introducing the Ink Flood Dragon Association, Che Long’an continued to explain the other factions to Qi Tian.
There were countless factions in Wanjie City, both big and small, but only a few were notable. These factions were divided into four grades. The Ink Flood Dragon Association was a superior first-grade faction, the overlord of Wanjie City. The second-grade factions were Wanjie Commerce, Bear Paw Group, and Ghost God Temple. On the surface, each of these three factions had two Nascent Soul Masters in charge. Whether they had a third one in secret was unknown. The third-grade factions only have one Nascent Soul Master at the helm.
