Chapter 408: Chapter 0295: This Trick is Still Very Effective Chapter 408: Chapter 0295: This Trick is Still Very Effective Chapter 0295: This move is still very effective
Ape King Sun Xiaotian had a peculiarly distasteful day. First, he was pursued and almost killed by a dignitary from the Chi Di royal family, leaving him desperate with no choice but to consume a Pseudo-True Pill and ascend to the bleak Pseudo Core Realm. Later, he slaughtered the royal dignitary, releasing his resentment. He believed he could successfully finish off the Zombie Demonic Beast and reach fulfillment. Afterward, he planned to leave and search for a way to break through the Pseudo-True Pill’s limitation. If possible, he would willingly devote his entire life to achieving it; if not, he would establish a sect within the Chi Di territory to assert his dominance.
However, much to his surprise, Qi Tian suddenly appeared, not only obstructing his hunt for the Zombie Demonic Beast but also proving to be a formidable opponent, able to hold his own with Sun Xiaotian after several exchanges of blows. As time passed, Qi Tian seemed increasingly likely to overpower him. Sun Xiaotian, proud and stubborn, especially after the adverse psychological effects of the Pseudo-True Pill, couldn’t accept such a reality. With a furious roar, he gathered all the strength he could muster into a fist and launched a punch toward Qi Tian, akin to a mountain collapsing down upon him.
Qi Tian remained calm on the outside, but his mind was spinning like lightning. It appeared that he had gained the upper hand in their fist fight, but the reality was known only to himself. His overall strength was unquestionably inferior to that of Sun Xiaotian at the Pseudo Core Realm. His strategy was to exploit his strengths against Sun Xiaotian’s weaknesses. If Sun Xiaotian were to clear his head a bit and realize that his true essence flow was being obstructed, likely by Qi Tian’s doing, he might decide to disengage from the fight, escape from Qi Tian’s controlled battlefield, await the restoration of his true essence, and then deal with Qi Tian as he pleased.
Qi Tian didn’t know when Sun Xiaotian would come to realize this. He dared not gamble. If Sun Xiaotian should awaken to the truth in the next move, he would be left with only one chance to make a difference. He couldn’t hope that it would take Sun Xiaotian even more moves before understanding the situation. He had to treat this move as his last chance, his final opportunity to defeat Sun Xiaotian. If he missed this chance, he feared it would be his own doom looming.
Similarly bellowing, Qi Tian threw a punch against Sun Xiaotian’s incoming fist, just as he had done before. This time, though, there seemed to be no change in the action. However, just when their fists were about to collide, Qi Tian suddenly switched to an open palm in which a spade appeared. The pointy end of the spade jabbed toward Sun Xiaotian’s approaching fist.
Sun Xiaotian hadn’t expected Qi Tian to alter his tactics. Qi Tian had been trading punches with him — gradually gaining the upper hand — a strategy that he, himself, wouldn’t have abandoned. Surprisingly though, Qi Tian did change his strategy, using a somewhat sneaky move, so that by the time Sun Xiaotian realized the danger when the spade was almost upon his fist, it was too late to shift his course.
The spade was an Innate Spiritual Treasure, exceptionally sharp and sturdy. With a soft thud, it severed Sun Xiaotian’s right forearm, causing it to fall to the ground.
The nerves in one’s fingers are directly connected to the heart, even more so for an arm. Sun Xiaotian let out a heart-rending scream. He wished nothing more than to execute Qi Tian a thousand times over. But he also recognized, having sustained such a serious injury, that a decrease in his combat strength was inevitable. Sun Xiaotian’s physical strength was about the same as Qi Tian’s, but given his severe injury, it would undoubtedly decline, making it impossible to continue using brute force against Qi Tian. Moreover, who could guarantee that Qi Tian wouldn’t use that spade again?
“You’re despicable,” Sun Xiaotian reproached Qi Tian before turning to escape.
Qi Tian didn’t respond to Sun Xiaotian’s insult. Whether Sun Xiaotian deserved to die was a judgment he, alone, could make, immune to the influence of outsiders, let alone Sun Xiaotian. A cold glint flashed in his eyes. He must not allow Sun Xiaotian to escape his mud spell’s control range. Once out, even if Sun Xiaotian had lost half an arm, it would be uncertain whether he could win or kill him.
He instantly switched the Heavenly Dao Engine to Speed Multiplier Mode, maximizing his own speed. Holding the spade, he raced after Sun Xiaotian.
For a grandmaster at the Pseudo Core Realm, Sun Xiaotian wouldn’t be considered slow. However, he had only recently advanced to the Pseudo Core Realm and had been severely injured. Most importantly, his training in speed-related tactics was not particularly advanced, meaning his foundation in this area was seriously deficient. Even though the Pseudo Core Realm had considerably improved his speed, it was definitely not exceptional.
During this life-and-death chase, the slower party would undoubtedly be at a disadvantage. Qi Tian was naturally fast and had the Speed Multiplier Mode of the Heavenly Dao Engine activated. Within the blink of an eye, he caught up with Sun Xiaotian. Waving the spade, he stabbed Sun Xiaotian in his back, puncturing a hole that split his heart into two.
Sun Xiaotian fell to the ground with a thud, dead instantly.
Qi Tian sighed in relief. His risky venture had finally paid off. Glancing toward where the Zombie Demonic Beast and Chen Yuben had been, he found that the two half-step Golden Core Level entities had vanished without a trace. He wasn’t sure if they escaped while fighting, or got scared off by the commotion over here.
