Heavenly Dao Engine
Chapter 393 - 393 0287 Just Refusing to Explode_2

Chapter 393: Chapter 0287: Just Refusing to Explode_2 Chapter 393: Chapter 0287: Just Refusing to Explode_2 Hidden at the bottom of the river, Qi Tian felt the power of a palm strike executed by the barefooted male cultivator from miles away. He couldn’t help but be grateful for his speedy reaction that saved him from being the one struck by the formidable palm. Had he reacted just a few seconds later, he would have likely been the victim of the attack.

Qi Tian swam along the river towards the direction of the moat. As a cultivator, he was capable of holding his breath for an extended period. In addition, among the plenty of spoils seized, he had procured items that aided swimming underwater. This meant that even if he did not surface to breathe for several hours, he would remain unscathed.

To hasten his departure from the Chi Di Capital, Qi Tian activated the Heavenly Dao Engine, doubling his underwater swimming speed. Thus, in a matter of a few minutes, Qi Tian, swimming along the winding river, covered more than twenty miles, reaching the city walls.

A small fort was constructed at this location. The city walls extended over the river while the river flowing through the city trickled off from under the wall, eventually mingling with the city’s protective moat outside.

The Chi Di had outfitted this location with a specific army to forestall any security loopholes. Also, a heavy iron gate that securely barricaded the river was set up there. Although the iron bars of the gate had gaps, they were very narrow. The gaps were such that even children, let alone adults, could not squeeze through.

Moreover, they had inscribed talismans onto the iron gate, enhancing its stability to such an extent that even a Human Grade Spirit Treasure would struggle to destroy it.

However, this iron gate posed no challenge to Qi Tian. With his Innate Spirit Treasure Level Miner’s Shovel, he could easily destroy it. Even without the shovel, he could utilize the Heavenly Dao Engine to eliminate the inscribed talismans first, then any sharp Spirit Military could break the iron gate.

The iron gate had remained down since the start of the Chi Di Capital’s lockdown. Essentially, it had stayed down for an extended period; the patience of the guards was significantly exhausted. Consequently, only a very drowsy soldier was assigned to patrol the bank, while no boats navigated the river. This set up ideal conditions for Qi Tian to sneak underneath the iron gate.

Qi Tian swam underneath the iron gate intending to bore a hole through it, but to his surprise, he noticed that some bars on the gate had clearly been sawn off. Now, majority of the bars were disconnected from the main body of the gate, which any average adult, let alone a cultivator like Qi Tian, could easily bend; thereby creating an opening in the gate to pass through freely.

Qi Tian wondered to himself, “Who did this? Such a crafty individual.” They had the same smuggling idea and had acted ahead of him.

The iron gate held many engraved talismans and there were guards on the shore. It was indeed no ordinary feat to damage the gate to this extent without alarming the guards. In addition, ordinary people could freely enter and leave the Chi Di Capital through the city gates and thus had no need to think of altering the iron gate.

Suddenly, Qi Tian became deeply interested in the person who executed this deed. He immediately bent the iron bars and clambered through the gap. Upon reaching the other side, he restored the bars back to their original state then found a hiding spot nearby in the river using an Array Disk and Array flag that he had seized during the incident at the Tongmen West Pass. Back then, the Chi Di cultivator had used this Array Disk and Array Flag to cover his tracks while ambushing the Great Zhao’s scouts.

Qi Tian gave himself a deadline of approximately one hour. If nobody passed through this hole within that time, he would leave. An hour was adequate to satisfy curiosity without risking too much.

Much to his surprise, Qi Tian had not waited for half an hour before a person arrived at the iron gate. The person appeared familiar with the operation, bending the already manipulated bars and squeezing underneath the iron gate.

When the man came out from the gate and looked up, Qi Tian was taken aback. It was someone he recognized, one of the Six Demons of the Soul Snatching Sect, whom Prince Kang Ke had tasked to hunt down. Although uncertain which of the Six Demons he was, Qi Tian was convinced that the man was indeed a member of the group.

Prince Kang Ke was commanding hundreds of cultivators to scour the Chi Di capital for the Six Demons of the Soul-Stealing Sect. He didn’t expect to run into one of them there. The man appeared calm as if he hadn’t been alarmed. A daring idea emerged in Qi Tian’s mind: he would kill this member of the Six Demons.

The Soul-Stealing Six Demons had set up the ‘Wanhun Condensed Pill Array’. Qi Tian had almost been killed by it. For this reason alone, Qi Tian bore a deep grudge against the Six Demons. Besides, each of the Six Demons was either a Half-step Golden Core, or eighth or ninth level Foundation Establishment cultivators, all on the verge of reaching the Gold Core Stage. Each had many cultivation resources. If Qi Tian could kill one, he would be able to replenish his dwindling pouch.

Once the possibility struck him, Qi Tian didn’t hesitate. The location was sensitive. If he made too much noise, even if he managed to kill the Six Demon, Qi Tian would gain no real advantage. He had barely managed to escape the Chi Di capital. He did not want to attract unwanted attention to himself again.

He had to strike quickly and quietly.

Qi Tian quickly formed a battle plan in his mind. He took out the sticky mud capable of imprisoning Spirit Force and Spirit Qi. When the Six Demon passed him, Qi Tian threw the mud at him.

Although he hadn’t noticed Qi Tian before, when the mud was thrown outside the array, the Six Demon sensed it and turned his head.

Instantly, he saw Qi Tian rushing towards him with a mining shovel in his hand.

The Six Demon was prepared and drew a talisman, which he threw at Qi Tian. It was a Water Arrow Talisman, suited for use in water. Not only was it swift, it was powerful; even he would likely be injured if it hit him.

But, unexpectedly, the talisman failed to be activated and floated in the water, refusing to explode. The Six Demon hesitated, and in that moment, Qi Tian activated the Heavenly Dao Engine and rushed forth.

As the Six Demon hastily drew a weapon and attempted to pour True Essence into it to fight Qi Tian, he realized something was wrong. Though normally an easy task, he now found it impossible.

It was at this point that the Six Demon realized he was in serious trouble. But by then it was too late. Although Qi Tian was also affected by the mud and couldn’t release his True Essence, his physical body was robust, and the multiplying effect of the Heavenly Dao Engine was still active. It allowed him to maintain a swift speed in the water. In the blink of an eye, Qi Tian lunged at him with his shovel, swinging it at the Six Demon.

The Six Demon instinctively attempted to block the attack, but his physical form could not withstand the Innate Spiritual Treasure Level shovel. With one strike, he met the same fate as the Zombie Demonic Beast.

Qi Tian’s Transporting Whirlwind sucked in the corpse, not forgetting the river water stained red with blood, all absorbed into the black hole to prevent the blood from spreading and attracting unwanted attention.

Once all this was done, Qi Tian didn’t linger. After a brief clean-up, he swam along the moat heading towards the large river outside.
