Chapter 377: Chapter 0279: Soul Splitting Sound_2 Chapter 377: Chapter 0279: Soul Splitting Sound_2 Just as he was about to sit down for a rest, Qi Tian suddenly heard a roar of anger. It was as furious as if someone had just been digging up a grave site.
Before Qi Tian could figure out what was going on, he received a warning from the Heavenly Dao Engine that a few extremely powerful energies were approaching his location at high speed.
Feeling alarmed, Qi Tian didn’t know what this meant, but knew that he had no friends here and if those powerful energies got close, his chances of survival would be slim.
Without wasting a moment, Qi Tian pulled out an Innate Spirit Treasure Level mining shovel, swung it like the wind and started digging upward. The overhead area of this burrow was filled with hard rocks, but without the reinforcement of runes, they were just ordinary stones, which became like tofu before the Innate Spiritual Treasure.
Standing on a flying sword, a varying size of stones fell from above Qi Tian’s head, and soon, a passage appeared above Qi Tian.
Qi Tian dived headfirst into the hole, constantly ascending and digging. In a matter of a few minutes, Qi Tian had penetrated the rocks above his head, returning to the surface of the valley basin where the Six Demons of Soul-Stealing Sect had set up the Wanhun Condensed Pill Array.
The scene was still chaotic, and the place was not deserted. Many cultivators who had heard the news had arrived and were conducting searches, looking for various cultivation resources left behind by their predecessors. Some of them, like Qi Tian, had also entered the underground.
Seeing Qi Tian emerge from the ground, some people immediately flew towards Qi Tian, intending to seize and question him.
There was no way Qi Tian would waste time here. He immediately activated the flying sword under his feet to escape the basin at the fastest speed.
Aaaaargh…
Another roar of anger came from the ground. Even many cultivators on the surface heard the roar. Some of the more faint-hearted immediately took out their flying devices and fled with all their might. Those who didn’t have flying devices used whatever means they could to flee desperately.
But the vast majority of cultivators were not cowards. Many cultivators in the Cultivation World would risk their lives for cultivation resources without caring whether that roaring entity was powerful or not. There were so many of them, they could use sheer numbers to bring down the enemy.
Some others believed that it wouldn’t be wise to provoke the being that roared, but they noticed an easy target – Qi Tian. They noticed that the flying sword under his feet, the clothes on his body, and the momentarily shimmering shovel in his hand, were all extraordinary. If they killed him, they would surely be rewarded handsomely.
In an instant, the cultivators in the basin divided into three factions; those who fled, those who pursued Qi Tian, and those who did not flee but instead planned to confront the roarer.
Just then, some cultivators ran out from the underground as if their backsides were on fire. The moment they got out of the hole, they began to scatter in all directions.
Before the cultivators on the surface could decide to chase them, several beasts leapt out from the hole Qi Tian had dug and the original hole. Without exception, all of them had red eyes, black skin, and white hair. They looked extremely terrifying. The Demonic Tiger that Qi Tian had seen underground before, was among them.
Each of these beasts was engulfed in raging flames and their imposing manner stunned everyone. The sheer number of them was enough to terrify the cultivators present.
Some of the courageous and quick-reacting cultivators immediately realized big trouble was just around the corner. They didn’t care about anything else anymore, and turned to flee out of the basin.
The demonic beasts watched the cultivators with varying reactions, none of them making any movements, only looking at them with eyes full of despise and pity.
Those cultivators who hadn’t reacted initially had all snapped back to reality and began to flee.
At this moment, a roar that shook the heavens reverberated from within the underground cave. Subsequently, a tall, shadowy figure flew out from the cave. He held his hands by his sides, his clothes fluttering and his presence extraordinarily enchanting.
All of the beasts that had leaped out from the cave fell to their knees, offering up their reverence to this admirable man.
The man swept his gaze over the hundreds of fleeing cultivators. Suddenly, he opened his mouth and let out a roar. This roar was almost identical to the Soul Splitting Sound that the black smoke had launched at Qi Tian. If there was any difference, it was that this Soul Splitting Sound was even more robust, enduring, and had a stronger penetrating power. If Qi Tian were to hear it once, he would likely have his soul torn asunder.
The flight of the Soul Splitting Sound turned the fleeing cultivators into wheat stalks that had their roots cut off, one by one, they fell. Those weak cultivators immediately started to bleed from their seven orifices, dying on the spot. Some barely better off also had their souls torn apart, leaving a breathing body.
The man didn’t spare a glance at the hellish scene his roar had created, instead, with a wave of his hand, he gave a raspy order: “Chase.”
The bowing demonic beasts all stood up, launching their pursuit towards cultivators.
The man reached out his hand and caught a cultivator closest to him from the air, clutching him in his grip. He then opened his mouth wide, like a fish swallowing its prey, swallowing the cultivator whole. A wisp of fresh blood trickled down from the corner of his mouth. Against his black skin, the deep red blood was particularly striking.
Qi Tian put in all of his effort, once the beasts sprang out from the cave, he managed to fly out of the depression. But then he heard another roar that frightened him, knowing that man was going to catch up. Not bothering to conceal himself anymore, he drew the Immortal Crane statue and placed a mid-grade spirit stone on the crane’s head. Instantly, the crane statue grew larger, where Qi Tian hopped on hurriedly, activating the Immortal Crane statue.
The Immortal Crane increased its speed to the maximum, carrying Qi Tian far away from the depression.
Qi Tian’s reaction was swift, but when the man issued that Soul Splitting Sound, Qi Tian felt it. He had been standing on the back of the Immortal Crane statue. The moment the Soul Splitting Sound resounded, his vision went black, his knees wobbly, and he almost fell off the Immortal Crane statue.
Qi Tian barely managed to stabilise his collapsing soul, not daring to dawdle on the Immortal Crane’s back. He urged the Immortal Crane to fly quicker. He would have replaced the mid-grade spirit stone on the crane’s head with a top-grade one if it didn’t waste too much time.
Under Qi Tian’s indifferent consumption of spirit Qi from a mid-grade spirit stone, the speed of the Immortal Crane reached a shocking three hundred kilometers per hour. However, at this speed, the mid-grade spirit stone wouldn’t last long. In a maximum hour, the spirit stone would need replacement.
Qi Tian initially thought his speed was already fast enough. Yet, he soon realised his mistake when, after piloting the Immortal Crane for about five minutes, he looked back to see a Demonic Tiger chasing him with a gust of wind. Taking a closer look, the Demonic Tiger seemed familiar.
Qi Tian panicked and desperately urged the Immortal Crane to fly further. He refused to believe that, with a mid-grade spirit stone as support, the Demonic Tiger could catch up to him.
The man and tiger pursued relentlessly, and within moments, half an hour had passed. By this point, Qi Tian had managed to escape to a place two hundred kilometers away from the basin. However, the distance between himself and the Demonic Tiger was not reduced, but instead, they seemed to be drawing closer.
