Chapter 322: Chapter 0252: Ape King Sun Xiaotian Chapter 322: Chapter 0252: Ape King Sun Xiaotian Chapter 0252: Ape King Sun Xiaotian

Just as Qi Tian was about to step into the tavern, he suddenly saw a bookstore not far away. Intrigued, he walked over. The bookstore owner had seen Qi Tian riding on a powerful and imposing Golden Flur Tiger. Knowing that this man was an immortal, he dare not neglect him. He quickly greeted Qi Tian with a flattering smile and an attitude of respect.

“Master, what would you like?”

Qi Tian understood the man’s question, but he couldn’t be bothered to respond. He walked straight to the bookshelf and began browsing. The bookstore owner did not dare to utter a word, but stood on guard at a short distance, ready to respond to any question that Qi Tian might ask.

It didn’t take long for Qi Tian to find the books he wanted. He immediately rolled up the selected volumes and tossed a nugget of gold he had squeezed into a ball to the bookstore owner. Without saying anything further, he turned and left.

The bookstore owner gratefully thanked Qi Tian’s departing figure, holding the nugget of gold weighing ten taels. He had thought Qi Tian would take the books without even paying, but instead, he was given a generous sum. It was as if he had encountered a rare benefactor.

Qi Tian arrived at the tavern with a few books of the Chi Di people about enlightenment. He ordered a room full of dishes and asked the tavern owner to leave the room. He was then free to eat and read the books at the same time. With a basic understanding of the Chi Di language, being a foundation establishment stage cultivator, and having been a top student in his previous life, reading these books was no challenge at all for Qi Tian. By the time he had finished his meal, he had also finished reading the books.

Qi Tian closed his eyes and silently contemplated. When he opened his eyes again, there was a newfound confidence in his gaze. He was confident that he could now communicate normally with the Chi Di people. Perhaps he might fall short in understanding some idioms, but he no longer needed to bluff his way through using the universal language of cultivators as he did before.

Qi Tian put the books into his storage bag. Just as he was about to stand up and leave, he suddenly heard a shout from outside.

“Listen to me, all the people of this town, whether you are ordinary people or cultivators, you have fifteen minutes to gather at the western intersection of the town. Those who dare not come will bear the consequences.”

At this shout, Qi Tian’s brow furrowed imperceptibly. He didn’t feel like heeding the call. However, at that moment, the busy tavern attendant rushed over and addressed Qi Tian, “Immortal master, did you hear the shout just now? It was given by a local cultivating family. They are very influential here, so nobody dares to provoke them. You better heed their call and check it out. If you don’t go, it might not end well. When you entered the town on a big tiger, many people saw. Others may hide, but you may not be able to.”

Qi Tian asked: “What are they trying to do?”

The tavern attendant replied: “Who knows? In the past, they often did this, either to collect taxes or to demand labor. There is never much good coming from it, but there are no particularly bad things either. Enduring it a bit usually resolves the issue.”

After a moment of contemplation, Qi Tian said, “Alright, I’ll go check it out.”

The tavern employee sighed with relief, fearing that Qi Tian would ignore his advice and walk away. He had no idea if Qi Tian could escape, but he knew their tavern would be in huge trouble if he did so.

Fearing that Qi Tian might only talk the talk, the tavern employee insisted on accompanying him. He also informed Qi Tian that the tavern owner had waived the fees for Qi Tian’s meal as a mark of respect for him.

Qi Tian shook his head secretly, believing that both the tavern attendant and the owner were underestimating the power of a cultivator. If he truly wanted to leave, a dozen attendants wouldn’t be able to stop him. However, Qi Tian didn’t want to take issue with ordinary people, so he allowed the tavern employee to accompany him to the western intersection of the town.

A few minutes later, Qi Tian arrived outside the town, where a crowd of at least five or six thousand people had already gathered. Most were ordinary people who had been ordered to line up in two rows and undergo some sort of inspection by a Chi Di cultivator. In contrast, there were only eleven or twelve cultivators, including Qi Tian.

Qi Tian and his group were taken to another side, where a tent with a silver top had been erected. In the Chi Di Kingdom, such a tent was only available to the most influential aristocrats.

Outside the tent, several sword-wielding warriors were training their qi. Their formidable aura would scare the hell out of an ordinary person with just one glance.

After bringing Qi Tian over, the tavern employee was sent to join the ordinary people in line while Qi Tian was invited to the front of the tent. Already, there were over a dozen cultivators seated. Each was offered a cup of tea with a heavy fishy smell. Merely smelling it made Qi Tian feel nauseous. Yet other Chi Di cultivators drank it joyously. Some were even closing their eyes savoring the drink as if it was a precious wine, not a cup of tea.
