Chapter 308: Chapter 0245: It’s Too Late to Say Anything Chapter 308: Chapter 0245: It’s Too Late to Say Anything Chapter 0245: It’s Too Late Regardless
Swish! A cold gleam of light skimmed past Qi Tian’s neck. Every hair on Qi Tian’s body stood upright. He only felt a cold sensation at his neck as if something had grazed it. He knew he was in the gravest danger. One misstep and he would lose his life here. Not having any time to ponder, he activated the Soaring Cloud Talisman and flew into the distance.
In the midst of chaos, he glanced back and saw a frigid long sword chasing after him. Bloody splotches covered the blade. As it pierced through the air at a tremendous speed, the heated blood gave off an intense stench.
Damn, where did this flying sword come from?
Qi Tian was filled with consternation. He had been incredibly cautious, but the opponent was craftier than he had imagined. The opponent’s craftiness wasn’t just restricted to deceiving his sight, but even managed to circumvent the Heavenly Dao Engine’s detection of Spirit Qi.
Before Qi Tian had time to think further, the flying sword pursued once again. While the Soaring Cloud Talisman allowed Qi Tian to fly, it had a speed limit. In comparison to the flying sword, it was far slower.
Once the flying sword caught up to Qi Tian, it immediately lunged towards him. Qi Tian, with a flap of his wing, dodged to the side. But the flying sword relentlessly hounded him, initiating a mid-air chase and attack on Qi Tian.
The flying sword was swift and agile, and its attacks left Qi Tian’s heart pounding in terror several times, nearly bringing about his demise. Thankfully, Qi Tian was not one to easily surrender. Blessed with timely wisdom, he quickly managed to regain his composure after initially panicking. He pulled out the Red Hoop Stick and, as the flying sword lunged at him once again, made a calculated pre-emptive move and swung it out with all his might.
With a cracking sound, the flying sword, which had previously resembled a flying venomous snake, stumbled awkwardly in the air and finally plunged in a disarray towards the ground. Its former ferocity had vanished.
Qi Tian hovered in the air, the Red Hoop Stick in hand, panting heavily. Only now did he feel something warm trickle down his neck. Feeling his neck, it was blood. In its sneak attack, the flying sword had caused a cut on his neck. Had his reactions been slower by a moment, that one single strike could have ended his life.
Qi Tian took out a medicinal pill, crushed it and spread it on the wound on his neck. The bleeding ceased instantly. He cast a gloomy gaze towards the ground, searching for the master of the flying sword.
By now, the flying sword had fallen to the ground. Planted into the earth, the blade distorted. It was due to Qi Tian’s forceful swing with the Red Hoop Stick. Regardless, the flying sword would need considerable repair before it could return to its former state of chasing a beleaguered Qi Tian.
Today was Qi Tian’s first actual aerial battle. Before, he had been standing on the ground, fighting against cultivators who could fly. Relying on his skills, he had never suffered a defeat. But this time, having truly flown into the sky, he realized there was a lot he still needed to learn.
Qi Tian’s gaze swept across the ground, but apart from the Chi Di cultivator controlling the Soul Banner, he couldn’t see anybody else. His gaze landed on the Chi Di cultivator. Could this person actually have the ability to multitask, controlling the Soul Banner and such a formidable flying sword at the same time?
However, Qi Tian immediately shook his head. Though, it was not impossible for such skilled individuals to exist, the chances of one appearing here was virtually zero. Such a person would certainly be a remarkable genius. Why on earth would he get involved in the worldly warfare between Chi Di and Great Zhao? Currently, whilst being involved in deeply infiltrating the territory of Great Zhao and assassinating their reconnoiters, if this got back to Chi Di, would he even want to live on?
Qi Tian thought about the Chi Di cultivator, disguised as a Qi Cultivator, whom he had encountered in the small town. If that person hadn’t walked right next to Qi Tian and allowed the Heavenly Dao Engine to detect something amiss with him, he might already have stirred up chaos in the small town. This would have inhibited Huang Zhiwei from promptly leading everyone to the Tongmen West Pass. By now, Tongmen West Pass would have already fallen.
If someone has already managed to accomplish something like this, does it mean that there might also be a second or even a third person capable of such?
Qi Tian looked again at the situation below. Apart from the Chi Di cultivator who was remotely controlling the Soul Banner, he did not see any other Chi Di cultivators. If his conjecture was correct, to find other Chi Di cultivators who had hidden themselves using the “Heavenly Deception Skills”, he would likely need to close the distance between them to within a meter, just like in the small town. However, for him right now, that was somewhat risky.
After all, his opponent was lurking secretly and was also capable of handling a flying sword. The opponent had already caused him considerable trouble by using the flying sword. Although Qi Tian had successfully struck the flying sword with a forceful whack, he wasn’t confident about whether the flying sword was really unusable now. Besides, just because this flying sword was damaged didn’t mean the opponent wouldn’t have a second one. With just a meter’s distance, if the opponent made a sudden move, Qi Tian might not be able to dodge it in time.
Naturally, Qi Tian would not land back on the ground. He would take advantage of his position in the sky. After all, he was a part of the air force now. Why would he go to the ground to brawl with the ground force?
