Chapter 215: Chapter 0198: Can We Talk Again_2 Chapter 215: Chapter 0198: Can We Talk Again_2 Qi Tian picked up a few similar-looking bones and put them into a bag. Then he moved on to his second target, a long bone that was longer than a human’s arm, curved as if it were the rib bone of a certain demon beast. Afterward, he went after a third, then a fourth, and so on. By the time his bag was half full, the Heavenly Dao Engine had completely quieted down. Although there was some energy in these broken bones, the Heavenly Dao Engine had ceased its indiscriminate consumption and had begun to grow more selective, losing interest in anything with an energy quality that wasn’t high enough or with insufficient concentration.
Qi Tian descended from Broken Bone Mountain, handed the bag to the stall owner, who glanced at it casually before demanding two low-grade spirit stones from Qi Tian. Then he let Qi Tian take away the bag and the bones inside. Qi Tian immediately stored them in the Wuhang Ring. Then, he meandered over to the stall opposite which sold chunks of meat.
Just as before, Qi Tian jumped into the meat pool according to the Heavenly Dao Engine’s judgment, bearing the piercing stench of blood while selecting several pounds of meat chunks. He spent another two low-grade spirit stones.
Qi Tian grabbed the meat chunks without a fuss, then used a cleaning talisman to wash off the bloody smell from his body before heading into the heart of the Meat Market.
This meat market was huge, even larger than a stadium, and had hundreds of stalls selling various demonic beast corpses. Most of them sold the corpses of beasts from the Qi Cultivation Period and Foundation Establishment Stage, there were also a few that sold corpses of demonic beasts from the Gold Core Stage.
Qi Tian strolled aimlessly. There were thousands upon thousands of demon beast carcasses here; it was impossible for him to buy all of them. It wasn’t that the Heavenly Dao Engine couldn’t handle them, he just didn’t have the financial capacity to do so. He had to reserve enough resources for his own cultivation. Only then could he purchase these beast corpses.
Qi Tian’s first goal was to purchase more Tiger Demon corpses for making Tiger Roar Pills. He made his way toward the center of the meat market, where he knew he could find Golden Core Stage beast corpses. If he could buy the corpse of a Golden Core Stage Tiger Demon to refine into Tiger Roar Pills, it would definitely have incredible effects when cultivating Tiger Golden Body Skills in the future.
As Qi Tian was about to reach the middle stall, he suddenly stopped in his tracks. He spotted a vaguely familiar face in the alley between the other stalls; it was the female cultivator, Zhu Ziyan, with whom he had a few encounters in the Lianying Realm.
Qi Tian was stunned. How could Zhu Ziyan be here? Wasn’t she supposed to be in the Lianying Realm? How did she end up in Wanjie City? Did Zhu Ziyan know the way out of the Lianying Realm, or was she not a native cultivator of the Lianying Realm after all?
Qi Tian did not want to have too much interaction with Zhu Ziyan. He quickly lowered his head but soon realized he was wearing a mask that was not the same one he wore when he attended the auction at Lianying Trade Union. Since he did not recognize people by his real face, Zhu Ziyan should not be able to recognize him.
Moreover, Qi Tian wasn’t entirely sure the female cultivator was Zhu Ziyan. There were hundreds of millions of people, it wasn’t strange to find a few look-alikes. He could have been mistaken.
Qi Tian shook his head, no longer dwelling on the issue. He had no conflicts with Zhu Ziyan; there was no need to fear her. However, he also didn’t wish to entangle with her either. Zhu Ziyan was too mysterious, someone to observe from a distance but not approach.
Qi Tian continued his walk toward the middle stall. Soon, he was there but found there was already a long line up of people waiting. As soon as the stall owner supplied new stocks, they would start buying aggressively.
Most of the customers at the meat market were cultivators from the Foundation Establishment Stage. There were also a few from the Qi Cultivation Period, but none from the Gold Core Stage. For them, the meat of Gold Core Stage demonic beasts was highly attractive. Bought and cooked using secret methods, it could have an effect similar to consuming pills.
Looking at the situation, Qi Tian furrowed his brows. If he wanted to buy a Gold Core stage demonic beast’s meat, it might take him two or three days in line, which would be very time-consuming.
Qi Tian immediately dismissed the idea of buying Gold Core Stage beast meat. He needed to hasten up and purchase some cheaper meats that had lesser Spirit Qi in the meat market.
Soon, Qi Tian arrived at a stall selling the bodies of various demonic birds. The stall owner had rigged a pole, on which dozens of different demonic bird bodies were hung, with more on the ground.
These demonic birds had not undergone any processing, their feathers not even removed and their wounds not treated. They appeared to have been brought straight from the hunt for display.
Qi Tian had little interest in the demonic birds, as they had a lot of feathers and little meat, making them relatively expensive. With a limited number of spirit stones at hand, Qi Tian naturally hoped to maximize his benefits.
However, in front of this demonic bird stall, Qi Tian suddenly saw Zhu Ziyan coming from another alley. If he went further, he might bump into Zhu Ziyan. Almost reflexively, Qi Tian halted his steps.
The stall owner, thinking he had a potential customer, eagerly greeted him.
Qi Tian glanced at Zhu Ziyan’s direction, estimated the timing, and decided to linger in front of this demonic bird meat stall for a little while longer.
While pretending to look around, Qi Tian used the Heavenly Dao Engine to sense the energy intensity of the demonic bird carcasses around him. Suddenly, he sensed an unusual energy fluctuation from the corpse of a Demon Crane. He approached the hanged carcass, touched it a few times and found that the Heavenly Dao Engine reacted most strongly when his hand was close to the abdomen. At other times, the response was relatively mild.
Qi Tian immediately thought of the One-hoofed Mad Bull’s corpse. He had found a mineral that could evolve the Heavenly Dao Engine within the belly of the Mad Bull. Could there be something similar within this Demon Crane?
Qi Tian quickly called the stall owner over and purchased the Demon Crane’s carcass for the price of a middle-grade spirit stone. Then, he picked up the Demon Crane ready to leave the stall. At that moment, a woman’s voice came from behind him, asking him to stop.
Qi Tian froze. The female voice was familiar. It was Zhu Ziyan. Despite avoiding her, he still got caught.
Qi Tian turned around, feigning a smile, and looked at Zhu Ziyan and another woman standing in front of her. “Were you two calling me?”
“Of course.” Zhu Ziyan responded, “Could we take a look at the crane in your hand?”
Qi Tian passed the Demon Crane over without hesitation. Zhu Ziyan, along with the other woman observed the Demon Crane for a while. As Qi Tian felt confused about their intentions, Zhu Ziyan suddenly looked up and said, “Sir, could you sell us this Demon Crane? Whatever you paid for it, we’ll compensate double.”
Qi Tian shook his head decisively, “I’m sorry, I’m not interested.”
“Doubled price is not satisfying enough for you, sir? What would be a satisfying price? Name the price, as long as it’s reasonable, everything’s negotiable.” Zhu Ziyan proposed.
Qi Tian responded, “It’s not about money; it’s that I have no intention of selling.”
“Triple? Five times? You’re not expecting ten times the price, are you?” quipped the woman accompanying Zhu Ziyan.
“If you two are really interested, then give me five thousand middle-grade spirit stones. Otherwise, there’s no point in talking.” Qi Tian spouted out a hefty price.
Qi Tian’s intention was to scare Zhu Ziyan and her companion away by quoting a high price. To his surprise, Zhu Ziyan did not respond; instead, the woman accompanying her broke the silence, “The price is a bit high. Can we negotiate further?”
