Chapter 1505: Chapter 865: Backdrop Board Chapter 1505: Chapter 865: Backdrop Board Chapter 0865: In the Background
Although it was Qi Tian and Huang Feixu’s first meeting, the two hit it off, with one admiring the other’s extraordinary insight in Tool Refining, taking an unconventional approach, and the other appreciating that someone so young had been able to reach the peak of the Gold Core Realm, promising an unlimited future.
Of course, their conversation wouldn’t have lasted long if it were just for these reasons. However, Qi Tian’s perspective, which transcended that of the typical cultivator, enabled him to present ideas that really shone in front of Huang Feixu’s eyes. Whenever Huang Feixu tried to delve deeper into these ideas, Qi Tian always made sure his points were substantive and logical, not just spouting nonsense. This made Huang Feixu increasingly admire Qi Tian, even to the point of considering recruiting him to become an Artifact Refiner. But after considering the reality of Qi Tian’s situation, he dismissed the idea.
With a touch of emotion, Huang Feixu said, “People talk about hitting it off right from the start—before today, I never believed in that, but meeting the Great Elder has made me realize there’s truth to it. My connection with the Great Elder is not only a case of mutual understanding from the first meeting but also a feeling of regret for not having met sooner. Great Elder, I know you’re about to head off to the tournament. I happen to know a thing or two about it—would you mind if I shared some advice?”
Qi Tian hurriedly said, “Master, did you also participate in the tournament in your younger days?”
Huang Feixu hastened to clarify, “When I reached the peak of the Gold Core Realm, I was already in my forties, so I wasn’t qualified to participate. However, I was invited to watch it several times and even took part in some of the associated events. I know a bit more about the tournament than most.”
Qi Tian immediately said, “In that case, please, Master, teach me.”
Huang Feixu nodded and began to share his knowledge with Qi Tian. He spoke of many things related to the tournament, some of which had been previously mentioned by Yi Xuwen and Lu Songsheng, but more than half were exclusive insights from Huang Feixu that he hadn’t shared in Qi Tian’s presence before.
Qi Tian diligently memorized all of it. Many of the details Huang Feixu shared could prove unexpectedly valuable in the tournament, so Qi Tian took them seriously.
After Huang Feixu finished sharing, more than an hour had passed, and he had been the one speaking the whole time. One could imagine just how much he had told Qi Tian—almost all of it was solid material without much filler.
Qi Tian repeatedly thanked Huang Feixu for he owed him a great favor. He said, “Master, you know so much more about the tournament than I do. I have a bold request. Could you help me put together a list of magical tools that would be helpful for me? I’d like to purchase them from your collection.”
Huang Feixu chuckled and said, “Since the Great Elder trusts me so much, I’ll put something together for you. I know you wouldn’t want me to give it for free, so we’ll go with cost price.”
Quickly, Huang Feixu compiled a list of tools for Qi Tian to review. Unlike the typical weapons and armor that cultivators commonly used, the list consisted mostly of auxiliary tools like the Thousand Miles Mirror. These were the kind of tools Huang Feixu excelled at making; some were even his unique inventions and couldn’t be found elsewhere. Like the Thousand Miles Mirror, one wouldn’t be able to find a second person capable of crafting such tools not just in Wanjie City, but even if they included the nearby Sacred Cultivation Places. It was precisely because of items like these that Huang Feixu maintained a prestigious position in Wanjie City.
Qi Tian did not own any tools like these. Despite his experiences and rummaging through hundreds of Storage Bags, he had never come across such tools.
These tools might not seem significant on a regular basis, but at critical moments, they could have a huge impact, doubling the effectiveness of an effort or even determining the outcome at a stroke.
Qi Tian didn’t waste any words and decided to buy the entire list as is. As for the price Huang Feixu offered, Qi Tian did not haggle but paid the full amount readily. It was fortunate that Wanjie Commerce had recently given him a substantial amount of cultivation resources under the guise of compensating for the past three years’ benefits from the Fiery Cloud Secret Realm, including a good number of spirit stones, allowing him to complete the transaction.
Afterward, Qi Tian bid farewell to Huang Feixu. He couldn’t stay there indefinitely, as he had things to do, and Huang Feixu was also busy. Just spending so much individual time with Qi Tian was already quite an honor.
Huang Feixu personally escorted Qi Tian out of his shop, and before Qi Tian left, he called over his apprentice so Qi Tian could directly contact them in the future.
Qi Tian and Huang Feixu’s disciple exchanged voice transmission marks and then bid Huang Feixu farewell with a formal bow. Qi Tian intended to continue visiting other shops under the Nascent Soul Masters. His significant gains at Huang Feixu’s place affirmed his decision, and he felt he might likewise obtain substantial benefits with other Nascent Soul Masters.
Qi Tian knew of another Nascent Soul Master in Wanjie City famous for alchemy, and he planned to visit to see if he could find elixirs suitable for his use. As he was about to reach his destination, someone suddenly rushed out from a nearby alley, apparently in a hurry and collided head-on with Qi Tian.
Cultivators habitually protect themselves with Spirit Qi, and Qi Tian was no exception. As the person collided with him, Qi Tian’s protective Spirit Qi reacted automatically, as did the other’s. The two collided and although they weren’t dazed by the impact, the person who had bumped into Qi Tian staggered back several steps, struggled to find their footing, and ended up sitting on the ground.
Exclaiming, “What’s wrong with you? Can’t you watch where you’re going…” the person started to say, then looked up, their gaze landing on Qi Tian, and their eyes immediately lit up. They quickly scrambled up and apologized profusely with a bow, “Great Elder, I am so sorry, I had no idea it was you. Did I hit you? It’s all my fault for not looking where I was going. Please don’t take it to heart.”
Qi Tian glanced at the person, thinking they looked somewhat familiar. After a moment, he recognized who it was. He said, “So it’s Chen Huai, what a coincidence to meet here.”
Chen Huai had, three years earlier, come to the National Master Manor in Wanjie City from Sui’an City along with his cousin Chen Tian, to seek Qi Tian’s help just before he entered closed-door cultivation. They had exchanged a top-ninth grade healing pill from Qi Tian. It was the only time they had met, and at that time, it was mostly Chen Tian who spoke with Qi Tian, with Chen Huai being more like a bystander in the background.
