Chapter 1457: Chapter 0830: Shame Chapter 1457: Chapter 0830: Shame Chapter 0830: A Sense of Shame

Utilizing the dense fog continuously released by the glaze sand, Qi Tian took the opportunity to slip away from where he had just engaged with several Nascent Soul Masters. As for whether he had truly escaped Song He’s surveillance, Qi Tian dared not make any guarantees. He had exerted his utmost effort; if he were still discovered by Song He, he could only reluctantly accept that fact.

Qi Tian applied some treasures on himself that could hide his aura, and, still not reassured, he found several talismans with similar effects and slapped them onto his body. Then he began searching for Song He. His main direction of search was toward where the Nascent Soul Masters had come charging in, which was also the most likely place for Song He to be hiding.

Throughout the entire search process, Qi Tian constantly activated the search function of the Heavenly Dao Engine, conducting the most rigorous search of his surroundings. However, what baffled Qi Tian was that he had already searched more than two hundred li, but still had not found any trace of Song He, nor had he detected even a single suspicious cultivator.

Qi Tian couldn’t help scratching his head. The maximum distance one could see was ultimately limited; even for cultivators, despite their ability to see beyond ordinary people due to increases in their cultivation levels, this extended distance eventually had its limits. Having searched so far without finding any useful clues made him start to wonder several times if Song He had already detected his trail and slipped away.

As for not guessing if Song He had hidden, this was naturally because the sensing ability of the Heavenly Dao Engine towards Spirit Qi was exceedingly powerful. Up until now, nothing could avoid its scanning—even within the imperial family’s Saint’s Tomb, where walls made of special stones merely blocked the scanning functionality of the Heavenly Dao Engine rather than completely disappearing from its senses.

Qi Tian stopped this needle-in-a-haystack search method. It was not impossible to find Song He, but the likelihood was very slim. Besides the possibility of Song He having slipped away, there existed another possibility that Qi Tian could not find him: he might be searching in the wrong direction, or perhaps he was slightly off from Song He’s location, or his location was just outside the sensing range of the Heavenly Dao Engine. Whichever possibility it might be, it inevitably added much difficulty for Qi Tian.

Qi Tian simply returned to his constructed position and hid in the dense fog released by the glaze sand, then found those Nascent Soul Masters whose Purple Mansions he had sealed and who were bound hand and foot.

All in all, Qi Tian had captured nine Nascent Soul Masters. In this overall action, his achievements were certainly the most dazzling—provided he was willing to publicize his exploits.

Qi Tian randomly chose a Nascent Soul Master, woke him up, and grabbed him by the collar, making him look at him.

This Nascent Soul Master was still groggy, and his face had some injuries from when Qi Tian had smashed him with a large rock.

Qi Tian revealed a smile that he thought was very gentle and said, “Sir, are you happy to see me?”

The Nascent Soul Master shivered. He still clearly remembered how Qi Tian had knocked him out, especially now, with the burning pain on his face, which he dared not forget.

“What… what do you want to do?”

Out of the short sentence, the Nascent Soul Master inexplicably felt a deep sense of shame. When had he, a dignified and honest Nascent Soul Master, spoken in such a trembling and fearful voice to a Gold Core Stage cultivator? Was this something a Nascent Soul Master was supposed to do? If this spread out, wouldn’t he be ridiculed to death by all Nascent Soul cultivators in the world?

Qi Tian flipped his wrist, and a healing pill appeared in his palm. He pinched the pill between two fingers, and it immediately turned into a powder. Qi Tian then evenly applied the powder with spells all over the face of the Nascent Soul Master, instantly giving him a refreshing coolness that made him feel as if he had come back to life.

“Sorry, I was a bit too hard earlier. Please don’t take it to heart. If there’s a chance later on, I’ll set up a banquet and personally make amends to you,” Qi Tian said.

Before Qi Tian could finish speaking, the Nascent Soul Master hurriedly said, “No need, really no need, I am defeated by your hands, how dare I trouble you to apologize to me. If you really feel sorry, why not release me first and give me my freedom? If you could grant me that, I, Li Xinshuang, would remember your graciousness for a lifetime.”

Qi Tian smiled and said, “Letting you go is not difficult, but I have several questions that need to be answered truthfully by you to clear up my doubts.”

Li Xinshuang hurriedly said, “Ask whatever questions you have, I will surely tell you everything.”

Subsequently, Qi Tian began to interrogate Li Xinshuang. He had three main questions: the first was whether these Nascent Soul Masters were acting in an organized manner and if so, who the organizer was. The second was why, when he was fighting some of these Nascent Soul Masters, knowing they were no match, did they not crush the Teleportation Talisman to escape but instead chose to fight him to the death—what was their reason? The third question was, what was the purpose of these Nascent Soul Masters charging towards him—was it merely to drive them away? If so, why had he smelled blood on some of the last Nascent Soul Masters to arrive?

Li Xinshuang did not dare to conceal anything and answered all of Qi Tian’s questions completely. From him, Qi Tian obtained all the answers he sought.

The only issue for which Li Xinshuang could not provide a definite answer to Qi Tian was the third question; he truly did not know whether those Nascent Soul Masters who arrived after him had collectively agreed just to drive Qi Tian away as they had planned. This would require Qi Tian to further interrogate a few more Nascent Soul Masters.

Qi Tian did not delve deeper into this matter for the moment; he already had a basic assessment in his mind. Now, what interested him more was Song He. From Li Xinshuang’s account, Qi Tian learned just how formidable Song He was. According to Li Xinshuang, Song He had exceptionally long-range vision, reaching as far as three hundred li, and under extreme circumstances, it could even extend by about a hundred more li. It was no wonder Qi Tian had failed to find Song He.
