Chapter 1385: Chapter 0787: He’s Just a Traitor Chapter 1385: Chapter 0787: He’s Just a Traitor Chapter 0787: He Is But a Rebellious Minister and Traitor

The words of Emperor Daqian were sound. That was exactly what Qi Tian had thought too, hence his insistence on searching the Three Great Capital Cities of the Imperial Family Secret Territory, even if doing so incited the dissatisfaction of all the Princes. His determination was fueled by the hope of finding Zhao Haiying, Liao Chongru, and others through this method. However, to his surprise, neither in the Southern City nor in the North Capital did he find anyone, and today, having searched the last of them, Xidu, he still had not found anyone. His last hope was now pinned on the Grand Ancestor Temple in front of his eyes. Even though he was aware that the Grand Ancestor Temple was the spiritual sanctum of the Great Zhao Nation’s imperial family and not to be profaned by outsiders, Qi Tian had run out of options and had no choice but to rely on his formidable strength to forcibly search the Grand Ancestor Temple.

Qi Tian bowed towards Emperor Daqian and the other Princes, expressing his apology, “I’m sorry, Princes. This is the only place I have yet to search. Please allow me to enter and conduct a simple investigation. I can promise you all that I will absolutely not disturb the Grand Ancestor’s noble spirit.”

Emperor Daqian and the other Princes exchanged glances, communicating silently with their eyes. They were well aware that with their strength, facing Qi Tian alone was simply impossible and even if they joined forces, Qi Tian would likely defeat them. By rights, as descendants of the Grand Ancestor, they should not permit any outsider to desecrate the Grand Ancestor Temple. But given the overwhelming force of circumstances, they simply lacked the power to stop Qi Tian. He had once verbally promised to maintain due reverence towards the Grand Ancestor Temple, and having this promise, albeit superficial, seemed sufficient to justify themselves to the Grand Ancestor’s spiritual presence.

Emperor Daqian sighed and said, “Qi Tian, we hope you have not forgotten the promise you made to us. We agree to let you enter the Grand Ancestor Temple, but please remember your identity as a subject of the Great Zhao Nation, and maintain the due reverence towards the Grand Ancestor.”

Qi Tian nodded. He bore no grudge against the Grand Ancestor, and none of the Princes present had offended him. It was feasible for him to cooperate with them within his capabilities without incurring any loss or disrespect.

Seeing Qi Tian nod in agreement, the Princes all exhaled in relief. They then made way for Qi Tian to pass between them, inviting him to enter the Grand Ancestor Temple.

Qi Tian had no suspicions and walked up to the grand entrance of the Grand Ancestor Temple. The Princes lined up behind him, escorting him into the Grand Ancestor Temple.

The Grand Ancestor Temple was an expansive complex with a vast amount of land. Even using the Heavenly Dao Engine’s sensitivity feature for detecting Spirit Qi, Qi Tian could not cover the entire area at once, which was his main reason for insisting on entering the Grand Ancestor Temple to conduct a search.

There was a significant distance from the main temple’s gate, and after crossing the threshold, Qi Tian and the others walked silently towards the main temple. None felt inclined to speak; the Princes kept their silence. If it were anywhere else, they might have had the mood to interact with Qi Tian and attempt to build rapport, but here, they feared such actions might displease the Grand Ancestor’s noble spirit.

Despite traveling on foot, each of them possessed extraordinary abilities, and so they moved swiftly. Soon after, they arrived at the square before the main temple, which spanned over two hundred thousand square meters. Each year, during the tributes to the Grand Ancestor’s noble spirit, all the Princes of the Imperial Family Secret Territory and descendants with imperial lineage would gather here—the most bustling time for the Imperial Family Secret Territory.

As Qi Tian and the others reached the center of the square, suddenly, runes began to flash on the ground. With each flickering rune, a Prince was enveloped before they could react. The rune would then shimmer, immediately transporting the surrounded Princes outside, casting them away from the Grand Ancestor Temple.

In less than a second, including Emperor Daqian, all the Princes were transported outside, leaving Qi Tian alone in the square before the main temple.

Qi Tian had remained on guard, even keeping the exploration function of the Heavenly Dao Engine active before entering the Grand Ancestor Temple, surveying everything around to prevent himself from being trapped.

Qi Tian’s caution could not be faulted, but as he acted alone, the deeds he performed within the Imperial Family Secret Territory had been secretly recorded by others—those that had not been witnessed, at least. These actions had been picked apart, disassembled, and analyzed time and again, from which patterns were deduced and laid out as preparations for this day.

The Heavenly Dao Engine’s ability to sense Spirit Qi was mostly highly effective, but today, it was deceived once more. As Qi Tian entered the square before the main temple, he detected nothing amiss. By the time he realized something was wrong, it was too late. A binding array suddenly manifested on the square, with countless runes flashing into existence, preventing Qi Tian from escaping immediately. Subsequently, four thick chains inscribed with runes burst forth from the ground, each wrapping around Qi Tian’s arms and legs. Before he could react, his limbs were ensnared by the chains.
