Chapter 1347: Chapter 768: War of Attrition Chapter 1347: Chapter 768: War of Attrition Chapter 0768: War of Attrition

Qi Tian had once entered two Saint’s Tombs, and through exploration there, he obtained a considerable number of treasures, making for quite a satisfactory harvest. However, satisfactory is relative and depends on the context and who is being compared. The fellow who had just climbed out of the coffin was the original owner of this Saint’s Tomb beneath their feet; the real treasures would be placed within his own coffin, carried close to his body. Whatever was placed outside the coffin would generally be of a lower grade. Qi Tian thought to use these relatively inferior artifacts to compete with Zhao Deyi and his group, but he stood hardly any chance of winning. As for the treasures he obtained in the second Saint’s Tomb, their quality was even worse, and now, using them proved to be incapable of stopping Zhao Deyi and his group.

Qi Tian’s Divine Sense swiftly scanned over these items without lingering on them for even a moment. He had to find treasures that could decisively determine the outcome of the situation. Only with such treasures could he possibly turn around the highly unfavorable situation he was facing.

However, finding such treasures was not an easy task. The two individuals he was now facing were one in ten thousand: one was a Child Of Heavenly Selection, and the other possessed the cultivation realm of the advanced Nascent Soul Stage. They were not opponents he could deal with easily.

Qi Tian’s Divine Sense searched through the storage chamber and the spare warehouse compartments within the Heavenly Dao Engine. Eventually, his gaze settled on an item. If he had a choice, Qi Tian would never opt to use this item, but now, other than this, he couldn’t think of any other treasures that could help him out of his current predicament. After consideration and finding no other option, Qi Tian reluctantly took the item out.

This item was very special; strictly speaking, it wasn’t an artifact. It was just a human head. When Qi Tian entered the second Saint’s Tomb, he had fought a fierce battle with Manager Chen, who had arrived there before him. By that time, Manager Chen had merged with the owner of the tomb, and his cultivation level had jumped directly from the Half-step Nascent Soul Period to the Nascent Soul Stage. It had taken a great deal of effort for Qi Tian to finally behead Manager Chen.

However, at that time, Qi Tian had only destroyed Manager Chen’s body; his head was not destroyed. Qi Tian didn’t grasp exactly how to utterly destroy Manager Chen’s head; he knew too little about the heritage of the living dead.

Qi Tian could be certain that Manager Chen’s head hadn’t died off completely; it had always been sealed within the storage chamber of the Heavenly Dao Engine. His original plan had been to find an appropriate opportunity and, upon discovering the correct method, to completely kill Manager Chen. Now, it seemed fortunate that he hadn’t completely killed Manager Chen at that time; otherwise, he really wouldn’t know how to resolve the current dilemma.

Of course, relying solely on Manager Chen’s head was not enough to completely resolve the problem. Qi Tian took some other items out of the Heavenly Dao Engine’s storage chamber. These items were all quite large; they were rocks that Qi Tian had excavated from the Saint’s Tomb beneath his feet. All of them were massive stones, extremely heavy and robust, not the kind that could be easily destroyed. They required a Nascent Soul Stage flying sword or another artifact of equivalent rank to even make a slight cut.

These were the best treasures Qi Tian could select; the rest could only serve as backups, reserved for use in emergencies. He had no great expectations for how effective they would be when the time came; he only hoped that they could buy him a second or two, which would be quite good enough.

After preparing, Qi Tian began to create noise within the Outer Palaces, attempting to lure Zhao Deyi out from the Inner Underground Palace and separate him from the individual who had crawled out of the coffin, to prevent them from joining forces.

However, Qi Tian’s plan was not successful. Neither Zhao Deyi nor his companion was willing to fall for Qi Tian’s ruse; both stayed within the Inner Underground Palace and refused to move.

When Zhao Deyi first reached the Nascent Soul Stage, he seemed somewhat impatient. At that time, deeply provoked by Qi Tian, all he wanted was to kill Qi Tian as soon as possible to wipe off the shame Qi Tian had brought upon their Longqing Palace lineage. However, after a series of confrontations, Qi Tian had almost driven him to despair, which made his mind much clearer. Although he still maintained the belief that he must kill Qi Tian, he was no longer seeking quick success. He planned to take some time to refine and assimilate the Nascent Soul Stage artifacts he had obtained recently, familiarize himself with their uses, and make them a part of his body. That way, he could control them easily, unleashing their full combat potential without giving Qi Tian any chance.

As for the one who had climbed out of the coffin, he was in even less of a hurry. Having spent hundreds of years inside the coffin, patience had become ingrained in his bones. In order to fulfill his subsequent plans, he could wait; whether it was three to five days, three to five months, or even three to five years, it didn’t matter to him.

Through the sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine for Spirit Qi, Qi Tian closely monitored everything within the Inner Underground Palace and could observe Zhao Deyi and their every move in real-time. Seeing that these two were immovable like mountains, seemingly prepared to endure a prolonged stand-off, Qi Tian couldn’t help but grow anxious. Zhao Deyi and his companion could afford to wait; however, he could not.
