Chapter 1328: Chapter 0758: Flying Swords Are Troublesome_2 Chapter 1328: Chapter 0758: Flying Swords Are Troublesome_2 Zhao Deyi soared into the sky, paying no attention to how others viewed him. With a flick of his sleeve, he flew towards Qi Tian’s direction. As he flew, he maneuvered his flying sword around the perimeter of the dense black fog that enveloped Qi Tian, seeking an opportune moment to attack.

Under Zhao Deyi’s control, the flying sword behaved like a venomous snake, its mouth agape, baring its fangs, ready to lunge and land a vicious bite at any moment.

Qi Tian hid within the black fog, using the sensing functionality of the Heavenly Dao Engine to monitor every movement of the flying sword, looking for the right chance to counter it.

After observing for a while, Qi Tian had to admit that, with the techniques he currently commanded, inflicting serious damage on the flying sword in a short time was extraordinarily difficult.

In the core area of the Imperial Family Secret Territory, Qi Tian had explored two Saint’s Tombs in succession and acquired quite a bounty, including numerous artifacts belonging to Nascent Soul Masters, some of which were of exceptional quality. If his opponents were ordinary Nascent Soul Stage cultivators, Qi Tian wouldn’t guarantee his victory, but he also wouldn’t feel any fear, believing he would stand a fair chance of winning.

However, Zhao Deyi was unlike any Nascent Soul Master Qi Tian had envisioned. Zhao Deyi was a Child Of Heavenly Selection, protected and elevated to Nascent Soul Master by the Heaven and Earth itself. This was not only evident during the later phases of his Nascent Soul Heavenly Tribulation—Zhao Deyi was virtually spared from being the focus of the Tribulation Thunder—but also demonstrated after his tribulation when the Heavenly Emperor willingly gifted Zhao Deyi two artifacts, one of which was this very flying sword.

Given the flying sword was a gift from Heaven and Earth, its quality was undoubtedly impeccable. Qi Tian had never laid eyes on top-grade Nascent Soul Level artifacts. However, it was unlikely any of them were more powerful than the flying sword wielded by Zhao Deyi.

Such a high-quality flying sword, under the active control of Zhao Deyi, could unleash tremendous power. If Qi Tian wanted to contend with Zhao Deyi, he couldn’t possibly ignore this flying sword.

The first thing that came to Qi Tian’s mind was to use the Transporting Whirlwind to emit more fog, further expanding the area covered by it, to draw the flying sword into the fog and thereby sever its connection with Zhao Deyi completely. With that, Qi Tian would have many techniques at his disposal. If he could snatch the flying sword from Zhao Deyi’s hands, even if he couldn’t wield it himself, he could suppress it in the storage chamber of the Heavenly Dao Engine—effectively defanging Zhao Deyi.

That was what Qi Tian thought, and that was what he proceeded to do. He immediately commanded the Transporting Whirlwind to release more fog and expand its dominion.

At this moment, Zhao Deyi had already arrived at Xidu’s city wall, where he halted and stood atop the roof of the City Gate Tower, gazing from afar towards Qi Tian.

The distance between the tower and Qi Tian was five miles—an interval neither close nor far. Utilizing his Divine Sense, Zhao Deyi could distinctly perceive everything occurring on Qi Tian’s end. He could even get a general view with his eyes. Ascending to the Nascent Soul Stage had significantly enhanced not only his power but also his eyesight.

Closing the distance between him and Qi Tian meant the connection between Zhao Deyi and his flying sword also became stronger due to the considerably reduced distance. Controlled by Zhao Deyi, the flying sword became more agile, like a venomous snake ready to strike.

As the black fog spread outward, Zhao Deyi quickly sensed Qi Tian’s intent and obviously would not simply stand by as Qi Tian implemented his plan.

Zhao Deyi formed a spirit rune with his hands, and through the connection between him and his flying sword, he issued an attack command. The amount of dark fog surrounding Qi Tian was not significant at the moment, so there was still a chance to cut him down on the spot. If he waited for the dark fog to spread ten or eight miles, it would become impossible to assassinate Qi Tian with the flying sword.

Although Zhao Deyi couldn’t see what was happening in the fog with his eyes or probe into it with his Divine Sense, as the Child of Heavenly Selection, his intuition was greatly enhanced. Even though he couldn’t see or feel with Divine Sense, his intuition directly told him where Qi Tian was most likely to be.

Zhao Deyi chose to trust his intuition. He released the spirit rune from his hands, and the flying sword, swift as a viper, shot out instantly, burrowing into the black fog.

Qi Tian’s face fell in shock, as the flying sword was indeed lunging straight for his heart. If the sword were to hit, despite wearing armor of the Nascent Soul Stage, he doubted it would withstand the strike, with very little chance of survival.

Curse this Child of Heavenly Selection!

Qi Tian cursed in his heart and then took immediate action to save himself. He quickly moved his body, avoiding the vital area, but the flying sword was too fast, and as he was too close to it, he had very little time to react. Although he managed to dodge the critical spot, the sword still grazed past his ribs, tearing a large hole through the armor on his body.

The armor on Qi Tian was actually a spiritual tool above the Half-step Nascent Soul level, but as the flying sword grazed him, this high-quality armor didn’t offer any protection at all. From this, it was clear that Zhao Deyi’s flying sword was even more formidable than Qi Tian had anticipated.

As the flying sword grazed past Qi Tian, it shot out of the dark fog in an instant, turned around outside the fog, and plunged back into it. This time, the sword still aimed for Qi Tian’s vitals. If hit in any of these spots, Qi Tian would undeniably die, leaving no second possibility.

Qi Tian moved with the fastest speed he could muster within the dark fog, desperately dodging the flying sword’s assaults, narrowly avoiding death each time by a hair’s breadth.

The flying sword, seemingly tireless under Zhao Deyi’s control, kept entering and exiting the dark fog relentlessly. Combined with Zhao Deyi’s extraordinary intuition, Qi Tian felt as if he were walking on a knife’s edge, at risk of losing his life with the slightest misstep.

Qi Tian knew this was no way to continue. He could feel that the flying sword’s frequency of entering and exiting the dark fog was increasing, and as time passed, each entry seemed to account for all the angles he might dodge to. If Qi Tian couldn’t think of a better solution soon, the next time the flying sword pierced through the fog, he might not be able to escape as he had been. It was highly probable that he would be struck and meet his end.

This was an outcome that Qi Tian could not accept under any circumstances.

After some thought, Qi Tian decided to deploy the Transporting Whirlwind, one of his usual trump cards, but this time, he had no confidence in succeeding. The reason was simple: the speed of Zhao Deyi’s flying sword was too fast, and he had no assurance that the Transporting Whirlwind could capture it. For the Transporting Whirlwind to be effective, it first needed to make contact with the target. If it couldn’t even achieve that, it would be unable to exert any influence on the flying sword.
