Chapter 1314: Chapter 0751: Don’t Blame Me for Losing It_2 Chapter 1314: Chapter 0751: Don’t Blame Me for Losing It_2 Some ran toward the place where Emperor Chaoyang was in closed-door cultivation. The situation had come this far, and only Emperor Chaoyang could take charge now; everyone else was too scared, and furthermore, they did not carry enough weight. They didn’t even qualify to speak with Qi Tian.
Emperor Chaoyang was still in closed-door cultivation, unaware of everything happening outside the temple gates. But more and more people were gathering there, and those who arrived first did not dare to disturb Emperor Chaoyang lightly. Those who came later had fewer scruples. It was not that they weren’t afraid of Emperor Chaoyang, but rather, they feared Qi Tian even more. They hoped to summon their Prince to make the decision: what should they do next? Should they continue to stand against Qi Tian, or should they seek reconciliation? Neither was a decision they could make.
The later arrivals didn’t have the courage to keep waiting. Ignoring the attempts of the earlier ones to stop them, they directly initiated the urgent communication methods Emperor Chaoyang had left outside, beseeching him to come out from his seclusion as soon as possible to take command.
Though Emperor Chaoyang was supposedly in seclusion for cultivation, he actually wasn’t in the mood for that at all. He had been racking his brains on how to break the deadlock he was facing. He had thought of a multitude of strategies, but couldn’t find one that was truly effective. It was at this moment that Emperor Chaoyang received the news from outside, and his expression drastically changed when he learned that Yang Yongqi, the Commander of the Imperial Guard whom he trusted most, had been killed in battle, and that Qi Tian had used some unknown technique to eliminate more than a hundred of his men within a minute. He knew Qi Tian was formidable but had not imagined him to be this monstrously powerful. In the entire Imperial Family Secret Territory, there was no second person with Qi Tian’s skills.
Emperor Chaoyang realized that Qi Tian was now untouchable, and at this point, a direct confrontation would surely be detrimental to Chaoyang Palace; it was highly likely that Qi Tian would not suffer any harm.
The various strategies that Emperor Chaoyang had originally considered included capturing Qi Tian himself, but now, Emperor Chaoyang discarded these thoughts without a second glance. He wouldn’t admit that he would surely lose to Qi Tian in a fight. Being a Prince of such noble status, he simply did not want to take the risk, and even more so if victory was not assured.
Emperor Chaoyang quickly issued orders, requiring everyone in Chaoyang Palace to enter battle readiness, at the same time raising the Mountain Protection Array’s defense level to its highest. At any cost, they must keep Qi Tian outside the Mountain Protection Array. At the same time, Emperor Chaoyang also issued a command for external assistance, attempting to contact the Princes of Xidu and North Capital to see if they were willing to intervene. If so, he was prepared to pay any price to have them come.
As Emperor Chaoyang issued his commands one by one, the entire Chaoyang Palace sprang into action. Though they didn’t approach the temple gates, their busy figures could not escape the watchful eyes of the Heavenly Dao Engine.
Qi Tian, standing outside the Mountain Protection Array, was clearly aware that the array was steadily becoming more robust.
Qi Tian realized that Emperor Chaoyang had no intention of coming out to meet him. His plan to have a face-to-face meeting with Emperor Chaoyang seemed increasingly unlikely to succeed, but Qi Tian still wanted to try. Once again, he shouted loudly, “Emperor Chaoyang, come out and see me right away. Whatever the issue, we can clarify it in person. As long as things are clear, we can resolve all our misunderstandings and everyone can be at ease.”
Qi Tian’s words reached Emperor Chaoyang’s ears without missing a syllable, but Emperor Chaoyang turned a deaf ear, regarding Qi Tian’s words as nothing but a stalling tactic. He was not about to fall for Qi Tian’s tricks.
Qi Tian quietly calculated the time. Though he could not probe the central region of Mount Wangsheng to see exactly what was happening, he could estimate how long it might take for Emperor Chaoyang to emerge from that location. With this timing, he could gauge Emperor Chaoyang’s sincerity.
Qi Tian waited patiently for Emperor Chaoyang to make a choice. If Emperor Chaoyang did manage to come out, even if it wasn’t to the exterior of the Mountain Protection Array, Qi Tian truly wouldn’t mind having a proper talk with him. If they could come to an understanding, and Emperor Chaoyang was willing to apologize and cooperate with his actions, Qi Tian could consider sparing him.
However, to Qi Tian’s disappointment, the time he had estimated for Emperor Chaoyang to appear had passed, yet there was not a trace of him. All Qi Tian saw was that within the Mountain Protection Array, the defenses had been strengthened. Everyone inside the array watched him with wary eyes, treating him as if he were a deadly enemy.
Qi Tian shook his head; he had already given Emperor Chaoyang a chance, but the emperor simply did not appreciate it. Since that was the case, there was nothing more to say. Qi Tian raised the Yonghe Stick again, pointing it from a distance at the Mountain Protection Array, and said, “I’ll give you one last chance. I’ll count to ten, Emperor Chaoyang. If you come out to see me, we can still negotiate. But if you continue to hide like a turtle in its shell, don’t blame me for not being courteous. Once I break through your shell, prepare to clean your neck and wait for me.”
Nobody in Chaoyang Palace took Qi Tian’s words seriously. The Mountain Protection Array that Emperor Chaoyang had set up all over Mount Wangsheng was a formation of at least a Half-step Nascent Soul level, exceptionally powerful in might. Even if a Nascent Soul Stage cultivator were to attack, Emperor Chaoyang was confident that he could hold them off for a while. He could not believe that Qi Tian, merely at the fourth level of the Gold Core Realm, could break through the Mountain Protection Array, even with the non-ordinary Yonghe Stick in his possession. If Emperor Chaoyang didn’t have this bit of confidence, he wouldn’t have dared to hole up here in Mount Wangsheng.
Qi Tian quickly finished counting to ten. At this point, he could be absolutely certain that Emperor Chaoyang had no intention of reconciling; he was determined to resist to the end, never bowing his head to him. Thus, there was nothing more to discuss.
Qi Tian leaped into the air, soaring upwards. He lifted the Yonghe Stick high and struck down mightily upon the Mountain Protection Array.
Had Qi Tian wished, he had a hundred ways to breach the Mountain Protection Array. He could use a Nascent Soul Master’s flying sword, or have Glaze Sand or Ghost Face take action; all could easily open the Mountain Protection Array. However, Qi Tian used none of these methods. He chose a simple and crude approach that was nevertheless terrifying.
During his fight with Yang Yongqi, Qi Tian discovered that the Mountain Protection Array was incomplete. It seems that in setting up the array, either Yang Yongqi or Emperor Chaoyang wanted to achieve an element of surprise, tampering extensively with the array and leaving many secret passages.
These passageways could indeed be effective when needed, but their existence compromised the integrity of the Mountain Protection Array, diminishing its strength. Where others might not be able to detect these hidden paths, Qi Tian was able to pinpoint each one’s location clearly, thanks to the Heavenly Dao Engine’s ability to sense Spirit Qi. He could even discern which secret passage was surrounded by the weakest part of the Mountain Protection Array and strike precisely there, without fail.
That was precisely what Qi Tian was doing now: striking with the Yonghe Stick where the Mountain Protection Array was weakest around the secret passageways. The grade of the Mountain Protection Array was just above a Half-step Nascent Soul level, not yet reaching the Nascent Soul Stage. Around these passageways, their stability had decreased, unable to maintain the level above Half-step Nascent Soul, with some areas even falling short of this level.
Qi Tian’s Yonghe Stick was a magical artifact above the Half-step Nascent Soul level, and with his current strength, he could exploit the full potential of such a grade of artifact, even without utilizing the Heavenly Dao Engine’s boosting function. If he were to employ it as well, then the power would become overwhelmingly strong.
