Chapter 1279 - 1279 0735 Expect the Unexpected
Chapter 1279: Chapter 0735: Expect the Unexpected Chapter 1279: Chapter 0735: Expect the Unexpected Chapter 0735: Surprised or Not?
Besides the eyeballs, brain matter, and the tongue inside the oral cavity, all other flesh on Manager Chen’s head had vanished without a trace. Accompanied by his laughter, Qi Tian could clearly see how the tongue in Manager Chen’s mouth moved.
“Kid,” said Manager Chen with a grin, “I bet you didn’t expect to have so many helpers by your side. Yet it doesn’t matter, none of them can harm me. I’ll give you another chance now. You may summon even more helpers to see if they can reverse your fate. Maybe, without self-destructing, you might turn defeat into victory, and who knows, defeat me. Then you would indeed be impressive.”
While speaking, Manager Chen continued to press forward step by step. His footfalls never ceased, drawing ever closer to Qi Tian, although his pace had slowed. Each step landed with exceptional heaviness, the sound of his foot striking the ground dull and thudding, like hammer blows striking Qi Tian’s heart.
In Manager Chen’s eyes, Qi Tian was like a turtle in a jar, with absolutely no chance of escape. Since he couldn’t flee, Manager Chen naturally wanted to toy with Qi Tian a bit. Otherwise, how could Qi Tian taste the flavor of impending death?
In Qi Tian’s eyes, there was still no submission. His gaze remained bright and steady, unwavering as he locked eyes with Manager Chen, showing not the slightest hint of retreat.
“Manager Chen,” said Qi Tian, his voice weary but his will crystal clear, “I warn you, do not proceed any further. If you do, you will be walking a path to your demise— not even a deity could save you.”
Manager Chen laughed heartily, completely dismissing Qi Tian’s warning. In his eyes, Qi Tian was like a cooked duck — all talk. If Qi Tian truly possessed a means that could kill him, why would he have waited until now? He would have used it at the start of the battle. Clearly, Qi Tian was just bluffing, thinking such a childish tactic could frighten him; it was nothing but delusional and a sign of madness.
“It doesn’t matter, Qi Tian, use whatever means you have and see if I am afraid of them,” Manager Chen taunted.
Not intending to halt his advance in the slightest, Manager Chen kept pressing step by step, incessantly closing in on Qi Tian.
A cold smirk emerged on Qi Tian’s lips, and he spread his palm open, revealing a black void. A massive stone emerged from within the void, dragged by Transporting Whirlwind, and was flung straight towards Manager Chen.
This stone was one that Qi Tian had excavated from a wall of Saint’s Tomb previously; it was already riddled with holes and of little value.
Having merged with the tomb’s former owner, Manager Chen inherited his knowledge and experiences. He instantly recognized the nature of the wall, his eyes widening as if he had witnessed the most inconceivable thing.
Manager Chen knew how formidable such a stone was. The tomb’s owner had once exerted tremendous effort to find a piece like this, having managed to obtain only a small piece after much trouble. And now, here was Qi Tian, using such a large stone as if it were a brick, hurling it at him.
Manager Chen wanted to dodge, but time was short; his intent to intimidate Qi Tian had kept him within close proximity. The distance had become so short that evasion was simply not possible.
All Manager Chen could do was brace for impact and do so with his flesh, as there was no time to cast spells at such a close range.
Manager Chen raised his right hand high, clenched it into a fist, and punched fiercely at the stone. Having reached the Second Level of the Nascent Soul Stage, his physical strength had been enhanced by merging with the tomb’s owner, rising to the level of a Nascent Soul.
But his punch, although powerful, did not shatter the stone. Despite its great strength, the force spread across his fist was just shy of breaking the stone, only managing to fissure it.
Manager Chen didn’t expect his punch to bust the stone. He knew its properties all too well. His punch was merely to stall it from smashing his head. He had further plans in mind, and his fists moved like lightning. In a brief moment, he threw over a dozen punches, which finally shattered the stone, rendering it unable to pose any more threat to him.
If Manager Chen still needed to breathe, he would certainly be gasping for air. Each punch had gathered his full strength; he couldn’t afford the slightest laziness, for his very life was at risk, how could he be careless?
Fortunately, Manager Chen, now an undead, didn’t need breath. After smashing the stone, he prepared to serenely show Qi Tian just how strong he had become. Maybe then Qi Tian would lose all hope, plunging into true despair. Only then would tormenting Qi Tian become truly enjoyable.
