Chapter 1240 - 1240 0715 Safety First_2

Chapter 1240: Chapter 0715: Safety First_2 Chapter 1240: Chapter 0715: Safety First_2 The Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider might use this time to return to a normal state, and it may become more troublesome to subdue it later, but Qi Tian had already faced the creature head-on, and the spider was no match for him. Facing it again, he would still have the upper hand; there was no need to worry about this. What he really needed to worry about was that the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider might have other tricks up its sleeve, tricks that could pose a greater threat than the four Ghost Faces combined. He had to guard against this possibility and avoid being too ambitious and reckless, opting instead for a more cautious approach.

Qi Tian calmed himself, first meditating to restore his magical power and mental energy to their peak. Afterward, he set about taming the four Ghost Faces he had just captured.

The taming process went smoothly for three of the Ghost Faces, but no matter how much Qi Tian threatened or enticed the fourth, it refused to submit. He had the already subdued Ghost Faces try to persuade and coax it; still, the stubborn Ghost Face refused to change its attitude.

Qi Tian didn’t want to waste too much time on this one Ghost Face, so he resorted to the most direct, simplest, and cruelest method: He picked up his flying sword and chopped the restrained Ghost Face into pieces.

As Qi Tian had anticipated, each piece of the shattered Ghost Face had its own will. He then began to persuade each of the Ghost Face fragments one by one.

This time it was somewhat easier. A portion of the Ghost Face fragments chose to submit to Qi Tian, while almost half of the fragments stubbornly refused to surrender. With no shred of sympathy for these pieces, and unwilling to offer them another chance, Qi Tian had the Heavenly Dao Engine absorb them, converting them into fuel for the engine.

This process unfolded in front of all the other subdued Ghost Faces, who were scared to the core, not daring to utter a single sound. Qi Tian was killing the chicken to warn the monkeys, giving them a lesson in loyalty to show them the price of betrayal. The Ghost Faces understood the message; they buried any lingering rebellious thoughts deep down, not daring to expose them, lest they bring disaster upon themselves.

The subdued fragments reassembled into a new Ghost Face, which Qi Tian named Ghost Face No. 9. All in all, Qi Tian had tamed nine Ghost Faces: four of them below the Nascent Soul Stage and five retaining the cultivation of the Nascent Soul Stage. Although all were merely at the First Level of the Nascent Soul Stage, at most at the peak of this level, none surpassing it, the collective strength of these five Nascent Soul Stage Ghost Faces was an impressive aid to Qi Tian, enabling him to accomplish many things.

After subduing all the Ghost Faces, Qi Tian opened his eyes and once again focused on the wall where the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider was hiding. The dense fog from the colored glaze sand had refilled every corner of the Inner Underground Palace. Although he couldn’t see the wall, Qi Tian still sensed that the spider might be clinging to the inside of the wall, perhaps sizing each other up just like he was.

While subduing the four Ghost Faces, Qi Tian had tried to communicate with all of them, hoping they could reveal any secrets about the walls or their connections with one another. He also inquired if the Ghost Faces could offer any useful advice.

However, to Qi Tian’s surprise, not one of the nine Ghost Faces could provide any useful information. After questioning them, he learned that the master of the Saint’s Tomb had used extremely ingenious methods to engrave an array within the walls, carving out a small space to provide a refuge for the Ghost Faces.

This space was also the only area in which the Ghost Faces could move. Usually confined to this space, they didn’t have the authority to leave the wall without external interaction, making them utterly oblivious to the outside world. They couldn’t even confirm whether only one array existed within their walls or whether other entities were present, let alone communicate with each other. Unable to provide Qi Tian with concrete answers, these Ghost Faces had little more insight than Qi Tian himself, who was already showing them great face by not questioning them further.

Qi Tian could only rely on himself; he had made all the necessary preparations and was ready to begin collecting the final five pieces of the wall.

Collecting so many walls at the same time was definitely unrealistic. Qi Tian hadn’t lost his mind, thinking himself invincible. He remained soberly aware and didn’t rashly reach out to all five walls at once.

Qi Tian took out the Nascent Soul Master’s flying sword and began to cut the final five pieces of the wall, whether or not this method was effective. Qi Tian chose to use this method to sever the connections between the five pieces of the wall.

Qi Tian was exceptionally cautious this time. He hadn’t forgotten how not long ago he had inadvertently triggered the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider to initiate the Illusionary Array. Some time had passed since the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider first launched the Illusionary Array, so theoretically, the spider should have recovered by now. At this point, launching the Illusionary Array again, attempting to control him, should be the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider’s preferred plan of action.

Moreover, the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider might adopt other tactics, perhaps mobilizing other beings within the walls that Qi Tian was unaware of, making them join forces to attack him.

These were not Qi Tian’s greatest concerns, however. What truly worried him was whether the master of the Saint’s Tomb had other contingencies beyond the walls. Was there a more powerful trump card laid out somewhere? If the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider had the ability to activate these deadliest tricks, then how would he respond?

All these questions forced Qi Tian to proceed with extreme caution, afraid of making a misstep that could bring trouble upon himself—especially the kind of trouble that he could not resolve.

After finishing the cutting of the final five walls, Qi Tian let out a slight sigh of relief. The entire cutting process went very smoothly; the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider didn’t cause any disturbances, nor did he trigger any other mechanisms. Everything seemed calm, as if all the danger had passed.

But Qi Tian dared not be misled by this illusion. He began to replenish the energy expended during the cutting. Once he was fully recovered, Qi Tian prepared again. He deployed every means at his disposal, encasing the wall where the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider was hidden with three layers inside and three outside, leaving no chance for the spider to escape.

Then, aside from the five Transporting Whirlwinds he set aside for protection, Qi Tian unleashed all other Transporting Whirlwinds towards the wall where the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider was hidden, planning to drag it by brute force into the storage chamber of the Heavenly Dao Engine.

He had already planned out that once dragged inside, he would immediately begin converting the walls and everything within them into fuel for the Heavenly Dao Engine, without considering anything else, let alone trying to subdue the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider. Even if such action seemed a regrettable waste, Qi Tian would not choose a different approach.

At this moment, safety came first.
