Chapter 1222 - 1222 706 Nine-Wall Interaction_2
Chapter 1222: Chapter 706: Nine-Wall Interaction_2 Chapter 1222: Chapter 706: Nine-Wall Interaction_2 Clearly, this was an exceedingly dangerous affair, and Qi Tian had no desire to act rashly. Knowing very well the potential hazards lurking within the walls, if he insisted on heedlessly making contact, he would truly be seeking discomfort for himself.
Qi Tian made a simple mark on this wall and then shifted his attention to the next one. However, the reaction of this wall was essentially identical to that of the previous one. As the sand wheel was about to touch the wall, ripples would appear, seemingly issuing a warning to Qi Tian.
Every time Qi Tian encountered this situation, he would withdraw the sand wheel, avoiding a direct confrontation. Using this method, Qi Tian conducted a thorough examination of all the remaining walls. Ultimately, he discovered that there were precisely nine walls that exhibited almost the same reaction; they would ripple when Qi Tian attempted to destroy them, but as soon as he retreated with no intention of continuing the destruction, the ripples would vanish, as though they had never appeared at all.
Apart from these nine walls, the rest were silent and motionless, showing no reaction whatsoever.
Qi Tian had no interest in dealing with these unresponsive walls; his focus was entirely on the nine he had specifically identified.
These nine walls were remarkably peculiar; their angles of distribution were quite intriguing, as if they were deliberately chosen and arranged by someone.
Although Qi Tian had yet to discover what exactly was going on with these nine walls, he now had some speculations. Whether these speculations matched the reality or were far from the truth would require verification by Qi Tian himself.
Intuition told Qi Tian that if he wanted to truly seize the opportunities within the Inner Underground Palace, then these nine walls must be handled with utmost care, without the slightest mishap.
If he were faced with just one of the nine walls, Qi Tian would not be as deeply worried as he was now. His greatest concern was that the nine walls had an interlocking function, meaning that if he tampered with one, the others would sense it and erupt in unison, inflicting effective harm on everyone nearby. In that case, Qi Tian simply would not be able to withstand it.
However, even with such worries, he had already encountered the situation and could not avoid it, nor did he have any reason to do so.
Qi Tian ceased his investigation of the walls, then ordered the Lustrous Sand to dispel a portion of the dense fog that filled the chamber, revealing an area not encroached upon by the mist. He then called over Emperor Jianwu, Emperor Bahuang, and the other three Princes to discuss using the Sound Transmission Skill. Qi Tian shared with them the results of his investigation and asked if they could discern anything from his findings.
The five Princes looked at each other in dismay. The information Qi Tian had relayed to them was far beyond their understanding. They had never encountered such a scenario before, and what Qi Tian told them was too vague. Even Qi Tian had not yet grasped many of the details, so the notion that they could make an accurate judgment based solely on this information was utterly impossible.
Even after Qi Tian expressed his concerns, fearing the walls might implement a joint strike mechanism—attacking one would provoke retaliation from the other eight—the Princes were utterly helpless.
There were many possible ways to achieve such interconnectivity: through an Array, by means of magical instruments, or perhaps some other method. The master of the Saint’s Tomb had undoubtedly possessed strength far surpassing their own during his lifetime. The means at his disposal were certainly beyond the Princes’ ability to conjecture.
Emperor Jianwu and the others could only offer Qi Tian some suggestions based on their personal experience, but of course, they dared not guarantee the effectiveness of these suggestions once applied.
Qi Tian had no other options. The five Princes were unreliable, and the team members who had entered with him were even less knowledgeable than the Princes and could not provide Qi Tian with any useful advice or assistance.
Qi Tian could only ask the Princes to regroup and allow the Lustrous Sand to encase the entire Inner Underground Palace in thick fog once again. Then he stood in front of the first wall that he had found to ripple and prepared to start from there to resolve the issue.
It was easier said than done, for without more information, Qi Tian didn’t even know where to begin. As for using the Lustrous Sand to drill into the wall, he put that idea aside for the time being. If the nine walls really were interconnected, then he couldn’t entertain the idea of drilling into them until he figured out a way to sever that interconnection.
After some thought, Qi Tian once again took out the Nascent Soul Master’s flying sword and began to try to explore the boundary of the wall in front of him, exactly where it was. From the outside, the walls of the Inner Underground Palace seemed to be of one piece, but after several previous explorations, Qi Tian was certain that the seemingly unified walls were just superficial; in fact, each of the twelve walls was independent and not completely fused together.
Of course, what Qi Tian referred to was not the walls themselves, but whatever lay hidden within or behind the walls. They were not fused together, or more precisely, they were likely relying on the walls as a support and connected in some way. If he could separate the walls serving as the medium, he might be able to break that connection.
Qi Tian once again manipulated the Lustrous Sand into a rotating disc and began to approach the wall from different directions and angles. Whenever he did this, ripples would surface on the wall continuously, but sometimes, even when the rotating disc nearly touched the wall, no ripples would appear. At these moments, Qi Tian could be sure that he had found the edge of the wall. By this method, he gradually figured out the border of the wall in front of him, which was an irregular curve, perhaps bulging out or caving in at any point.
After determining this line, Qi Tian took the flying sword and inserted it along the curve, then he began to forcibly cut through the wall along this line. He aimed to completely separate this entire section from the adjoining walls to prevent any further connection between them.
He took this course of action because of the results from his exploration of the previous walls. He realized that the thickness of these walls was the same. His flying sword penetrated to the hilt, just enough to go through the wall. When he held the sword and moved along this line on the wall, he could cut the wall away perfectly.
This was a very arduous process since the wall was extremely sturdy and not easily cut through.
Qi Tian chose not to use the Lustrous Sand for this task. Using the sand would have been much faster than the flying sword, but if he used the sand, it would not be able to fulfill its defensive role. Unable to be certain of what dangers lay hidden within the nine walls, Qi Tian had to maintain the Lustrous Sand as his guard. Should any powerful entity attack, the Lustrous Sand could carry the Nascent Soul Stage sand grains and snipe at the attacker, preventing any harm to Qi Tian.
In dire circumstances, Qi Tian was forced to proceed with utmost caution and could not afford even the slightest negligence.
His method was perhaps the most laborious and the most foolish, but in his current situation where he could rely on no one else, this method was the safest one available to him.
After much effort and a considerable amount of time, not to mention countless doses of Spirit Milk Ointment, Qi Tian finally managed to separate this wall from the others.
