Chapter 1220 - 1220 0705 Spiritual Light_2
Chapter 1220: Chapter 0705: Spiritual Light_2 Chapter 1220: Chapter 0705: Spiritual Light_2 Qi Tian was somewhat unwilling to give up, repeatedly probing the chamber behind the second wall numerous times, but still came up empty-handed. He wondered if maybe he was applying the wrong opening method and commanded the Liuli Sand to form a grinding wheel, boring into the wall from different positions. The result, however, after each penetration of the wall, was entry into the same chamber, without any further discoveries, and there were also no abnormalities on the wall that caught his attention.
Qi Tian sighed, his only option was to shift his gaze onto the third wall. After making the necessary preparations, he once again manipulated the Liuli Sand to transform into a grinding wheel and began to drill into the wall, ready to penetrate it.
By this time, Qi Tian had become extremely cautious and careful. Having avoided danger twice in a row meant the possibility of encountering danger was increasing, so he must not let his guard down under any circumstances.
Just as the third wall was about to be breached, Qi Tian suddenly had an intuition. He recalled a saying, which is that it was just like a piece of paper separated the inside from the outside, and right now, he might be separated from danger by just a paper-thin threshold. So, could it be that in other places, he was only separated by a paper-thin barrier as well?
Qi Tian’s gaze fell on the wall in front of his eyes. The wall he was facing had a certain thickness, not only this wall, but also when he faced the Outer Tomb Door and Inner Underground Palace Door, they both had thickness as well.
Now, Qi Tian could be certain of one thing: the material used for both tomb doors, as well as the wall before him, was the same. They shared a common feature, which was the ability to block Qi Tian’s Divine Sense and cause the sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine to fail, rendering it unable to detect what lay beyond the wall.
Now, Qi Tian pondered in his mind; the material that constituted the Inner Underground Palace Door, Outer Tomb Door, and this wall – what was it that determined its ability to block Divine Sense and cause the Heavenly Dao Engine’s sensing function to fail? Was this property inherent to the material itself, or did it require a certain amount of the material to accumulate for this effect to manifest?
If the material itself possessed this property, metaphorically speaking, no matter the amount or whether its accumulated thickness was substantial or thin, it wouldn’t affect its performance. However, if it inherently had this property but required a large amount of accumulation to demonstrate its full potential, then there would be room for Qi Tian to manipulate.
Qi Tian decided to make some attempts in this regard. If his experiment was successful, it would greatly ease the subsequent explorations behind the wall. It would also significantly reduce the dangers he might face, at least allowing him some level of preparedness in advance.
This attempt was not something an ordinary person could undertake — even wielding a Nascent Soul Master’s flying sword might not suffice for such a trial. But now, Qi Tian had a powerful tool at his disposal, which was the Liuli Sand transformed into a grinding wheel. Relying on it, Qi Tian could perform some rather precise operations, laying the groundwork for his subsequent experiments.
Qi Tian stopped the grinding wheel from further drilling into the wall and let the Liuli Sand soak back into a jar, allowing it to absorb the Spirit Liquid within and replenish its spent energy.
Once the Liuli Sand had returned to its peak state, Qi Tian transformed it again into a grinding wheel, peeling off the wall layer by layer, much like peeling an onion.
After each layer was stripped away, Qi Tian had the Liuli Sand pause temporarily, and then he would try to use the sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine on the polished area, attempting to sense what lay behind the wall. Yet, every time, it was to no avail.
Qi Tian did not lose heart and continued to repeat the process.
The wall, under the polishing of the liuli sand, became thinner and thinner, and by the end, it was as thin as a cicada’s wing. The barrier between Qi Tian and the space beyond the wall was like a layer of paper on a window, incredibly thin, a very slight distance.
Qi Tian once again halted the sand wheel and then, using the sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine, he approached the wall in an attempt to perceive the world beyond.
After multiple repetitions, Qi Tian’s action had become almost subconscious, mechanical, and he did not expect it to be successful this time. However, to his surprise, the sensation function of the Heavenly Dao Engine did penetrate the barrier, albeit not as smoothly as in other places, like mercury spilling to the ground, but it still made it through, even though it was exceedingly slow.
Moments later, the Heavenly Dao Engine relayed back some fuzzy three-dimensional images to Qi Tian. These images were not sharp enough to precisely reveal what lay behind the wall, but they were sufficient for Qi Tian to surmise the general presence there and whether it posed danger or safety.
Qi Tian was overjoyed beyond expectation; a casual thought that had flashed through his mind had turned into reality. This success could be said to have solved a big problem for him, preventing him from being as passive as he had been just before.
However, Qi Tian’s joy did not last long, as he soon broke out in a cold sweat. When he glanced at the three-dimensional images that the Heavenly Dao Engine had sent him, he discovered that behind the wall was another sizeable secret chamber, not empty like the second chamber, but completely filled with a liquid.
Qi Tian had just experienced the power of this liquid not long before; it was Millennium Corpse Water.
The secret chamber beyond the wall was wholly filled with Millennium Corpse Water, in an immense quantity. If Qi Tian had carelessly breached the entire wall, all of the Millennium Corpse Water would have flowed out. Even if he had made just a tiny hole when breaching the wall, there would have been no way for Qi Tian to seal it. Once that water started to flow out, the Inner Underground Palace would turn into a death zone where there was no place for Qi Tian and his companions to stand; they would have to hastily retreat from the palace, abandoning all else.
Now, thankfully, a mere thin layer prevented the wall from being breached and kept the Millennium Corpse Water at bay, preventing a disaster in the Inner Underground Palace; this was indeed a close escape for Qi Tian and Emperor Jianwu.
Qi Tian took a long breath of relief, feeling immensely grateful for the stroke of inspiration he had just had, which had saved him from great misfortune. He quickly filled the small hole that the liuli sand had made with powder. This powder was the residue from the wall and was refilled by Qi Tian back to its original place. Afterwards, he used his flying sword to slice a piece of rock from the second wall, shaped it to the right size, and plugged it in the hole, then affixed a top-grade reinforcement charm on the outside to completely seal it off.
This was the most reliable method Qi Tian could think of to permanently prevent the Millennium Corpse Water from leaking out; he had to approach the task with care and seriousness, since besides this, he had no suitable means to deal with the Millennium Corpse Water.
After sealing the hole, Qi Tian turned his attention to the first and second walls he had previously explored. Both walls had become battered due to his meddling, especially the second one, which was already riddled with several holes. Qi Tian had not thought of any use for these walls at first, but now he realized that their material was extraordinary. Not only could they block Divine Sense, but they could also withstand the corrosion of the Millennium Corpse Water. If he made some bottles and jars from them to store the Millennium Corpse Water, it seemed like an excellent choice.
Qi Tian planned to pry away all of these tens of walls behind which secrets were hidden after he had explored them all. If he could make good use of these walls in the future, they would also be a very fine collection of natural treasures; he should collect as much as possible.
