Heavenly Dao Engine
Chapter 1132 - 1132 0661 Absurd Reality_2

Chapter 1132: Chapter 0661: Absurd Reality_2 Chapter 1132: Chapter 0661: Absurd Reality_2 Following the daytime scene, Qi Tian stood about ten meters away from the edge of the thick fog. With a lift of his hand, vast swathes of fog swirled into a vortex, funneling into his palm and vanishing. But now, they only saw the fog continuously devouring the light sources surrounding the Saint’s Tomb without any sign of Qi Tian absorbing it. The fog kept pressing towards the dome of the Saint’s Tomb. If it continued at this rate, it wouldn’t be long before the fog achieved its goal of overtaking the Saint’s Tomb. By then, among the hundred-plus Gold Core Realm experts present, not one would be able to escape, all would perish.

Emperor Jianwu and the others were on edge, yet they were helpless. The only thing they could do was to frantically equip themselves with all sorts of Protective Talismans. If it wasn’t for the fact that each person could only wear one set of armor, they might have layered dozens of skins onto themselves. It seemed that only by doing so could they ensure their safety or, at the very least, withstand the fog’s corrosion a bit longer.

As Emperor Jianwu equipped himself with Protective Talismans, he asked Gao Jinmei:

“Master Gao, did Master Qi mention to you where he was going when he left? When will he be able to come back?”

Gao Jinmei shook her head and said, “How dare I inquire about the Master’s affairs? Whatever the Master asks me to do, I do. I never dare to ask more.”

Emperor Jianwu asked again, “Then can you contact Master Qi?”

Gao Jinmei shook her head once more, saying nothing.

In truth, Gao Jinmei looked down on Emperor Jianwu and his fellow princely Immortal Slaves. They were too cowardly, valuing their lives too much. Moreover, these princely Immortal Slaves were different from her; they often placed their own interests above Qi Tian’s. Unlike them, Gao Jinmei was willing to do anything Qi Tian needed, believing that she, in comparison to the other princely Immortal Slaves, was truly one of Qi Tian’s own, standing firmly by his side.

With such thoughts, even though Gao Jinmei had the means to directly contact Qi Tian, she chose not to divulge it. She could see that if she told Emperor Jianwu, he would undoubtedly contact Qi Tian right away, pleading with him to return immediately rather than respecting his choice.

Thinking that Gao Jinmei’s head shaking meant she did not know how to contact Qi Tian, Emperor Jianwu had no other option. He could only continue to hang more Protective Talismans on himself, as did the other princes and all the Gold Core Realm experts present. They had suffered at the hands of the thick fog earlier that day and, in less than half a day, indeed found no better solution to counteract the fog.

At this moment, Emperor Jianwu and the others were mostly in a state of resigned fatalism, leaving whether they would see tomorrow’s light to the dictates of a mysterious fate.

While Qi Tian was repairing the Wolf Teeth Knife, in order to avoid another unexpected incident, he didn’t immerse all his concentration into the task as he had during the daytime. He allotted a portion of his awareness to deploy the sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine towards Spirit Qi, monitoring his surroundings at all times.

The imminent arrival of danger was the first feedback from the Heavenly Dao Engine. By that time, Qi Tian already knew the danger was the same as during daytime: a combination of the thick fog and a sandstorm. If Emperor Jianwu and the others had to face it, they would indeed be waiting for death. Qi Tian didn’t count on their help with this matter and immediately rushed out to resolve the thick fog alone.

Initially, Qi Tian had a simple plan: just like during the day, to use the Transporting Whirlwind to drag all the thick fog and sandstorm he could reach into the storage chamber of the Heavenly Dao Engine, and then extract the immense energy contained within the fog and sandstorm to fuel the Heavenly Dao Engine.

But just like during the day, this would only be a temporary solution, not addressing the root of the problem. The dense fog and sandstorms nearby couldn’t escape, and those in the distance would still seize the opportunity to flee, just as they had earlier.

However, Qi Tian had enough reason to believe that if he could do this a few more times, the dense fog combined with the sandstorm could be completely annihilated without any problem.

But as Qi Tian burst forth, his thoughts shifted slightly. He had always kept the Heavenly Dao Engine’s sensitivity to Spirit Qi activated, so every instant he was receiving feedback from the engine. Among these feedbacks, when he approached the dense fog, Qi Tian noticed something unusual.

During the day, when Qi Tian faced the dense fog, he found only two things in it: the fog itself and the sandstorm, nothing else. But this time, today, within the numerous sandstorms in the fog, he discovered a small sandstorm that was unlike the rest.

All the other sandstorms were immense in scale, easily a hundred meters tall, towering from earth to heaven, sweeping over several miles in range and looking terrifying. But this different sandstorm was quite tiny, about the size of a fist, spinning back and forth in the air, hiding among the many other sandstorms.

Despite its small size, it was quite unique. The other sandstorms would avoid it in advance, never absorbing it into themselves. Moreover, around this small sandstorm, there were two larger sandstorms that were actually guarding it, following wherever it went, never straying, and always maintaining a consistent distance from the tiny sandstorm.

Time was short, and Qi Tian was temporarily unable to discern more about what made this small sandstorm extraordinary. But the differences he had just noticed were enough to convince him that this tiny sandstorm was no ordinary thing.

An absurd idea formed in Qi Tian’s mind, making him wonder if the dense fog and sandstorm that brought confusion and danger to the entire group could have been created by this tiny sandstorm. If one were to liken the entire fog to an army, could this small sandstorm be the leader of the troop?

After harboring this thought, even Qi Tian found it ludicrous. He was about to proceed as he had during the day, intending to directly absorb the nearest fog and sandstorm, when he received new feedback from the engine.

Upon seeing this feedback, Qi Tian was utterly shocked and incredulous.

In this latest three-dimensional image provided by the Heavenly Dao Engine, that small sandstorm had actually ejected a tiny grain of sand, not even as large as the tip of a needle, carrying an immense amount of energy. It landed in the middle of other sandstorms and then began to rotate. In the blink of an eye, a single grain of sand turned into hundreds of grains, which formed a small sandstorm that continued spinning. The number of sand grains fast increased, and in an extremely short period, they evolved into a new, towering sandstorm hundreds of meters high.

This new sandstorm merged with the others, advancing with the dense fog and moving toward the direction of the Saint’s Tomb.

Witnessing such a scene, Qi Tian was dumbfounded. He had thought his hypothesis was utterly absurd, but reality showed him that his improbable guess had actually coincided with the truth. The dense fog and sandstorm that posed a significant threat to Emperor Jianwu and the others could very well have been caused by this tiny sandstorm.
