After one hour, Jiang Hao finally decided to end this battle. He had gained a good enough understanding of his strength.

He just left after dropping some spirit herbs. It had become his way of thanking the spirit beasts who helped him in this way.

"Done?"

"Yes, senior."

Yao Ying nodded and moved her hands towards him. Jiang Hao was confused, as it didn’t feel like she was testing him again.

But it didn’t take long for him to understand that she wanted him to take her hand for teleportation.

He looked at it for a few breaths. Usually, he just placed his hands on others’ shoulders while teleporting with them.

So he was a little self-conscious about holding hands, not to mention someone like Senior Yao’s status and beauty.

His other connection of being fated with her made it even worse. He sighed and calmed himself.

He didn’t wait longer and took her hands in his. For a moment, he forgot to teleport. The only sensation he could feel right now was her soft hands. They were smaller than his. He wanted to press them instinctively, but he again controlled that impulse and teleported to the mountain in front of his village.

After appearing, he let go of her hands and moved a little away.

"Senior, I will go and have a talk with my mother."

Yao Ying nodded and didn’t follow.

Jiang Hao didn’t wait for the fox to arrive. He would meet her later.

He entered the village. Nothing much had changed in five years. With it being hidden, it was totally cut off from the world.

He entered his house without alarming anyone else in the village.

He already knew that his mother was taking care of vegetables in the backyard. In the past five years, she had become far healthier than any other woman of her age among mortals.

"Mother, I am back."

Yao Ying looked towards the village intently. There is no way to allow mortals to cultivate without going through something similar to what Jiang Hao had gone through.

That fruit can increase the lifespan of cultivators by 10,000 years, and for a mortal, it is 500 years.

500 years will be enough for them to find proper measures for his mother.

The only problem is that they couldn’t make her immortal. No matter how much they deceive the universal law, it isn’t totally blind.

More like, at first, it just ignores the deceiving, but later it would still make everything perfect. Time will come when nothing would work on his mother, and his mother would have to accept the judgment.

She will talk to Jiang Hao about it later. There was still a lot of time. Even if that fruit was eaten at the end of one’s lifespan, it would work.

Jiang Hao came back in one hour. He saw the fox, who had grown even more after the breakthrough to Grade 4.

"Master, when will you come back?"

Jiang Hao brought out some spirit herbs and beast cores and gave them to her. There were some low-grade ones for her child too.

After that, he hesitated a bit but moved his hands towards Yao Ying.

Yao Ying took it naturally. There was a negligible smile on her lips, which Jiang Hao missed because he wasn’t paying attention to it, as the moment he got her hand, he teleported.

They came to the outskirts of the first city he had ever visited. He would use normal routes to travel deep into the kingdom for some time.

When they came to the gate, he understood one thing — people were able to see Senior Yao, but they weren’t reacting the way they should. It was like they were seeing some different person who was totally ordinary to pay attention for a second time.

Jiang Hao sighed and paid the guards some coins, as right now he looked like a complete mortal.

The city was the same, bustling with cultivators who go into the Dark Forest to search for treasure and resources.

Just as he was thinking about going to find a way which would take them into the deeper territory of Zhu Kingdom, he heard Senior Yao.

"What are you aiming for from this endeavour?"

Jiang Hao thought for a second and said,

"I don’t know. I just wanted to see the world, and since the world is meaningless without its inhabitants, I decided to see them too.

Maybe I am trying to search for the answer to some questions which inherently come to one’s mind like, what is the meaning of existence? Why create mortals and immortals in the first place?"
