Chapter 279: Chapter 267: The Three Sages Refine Treasures in Tushita Palace
However, Wukong went to the Upper Pure Heaven to return the Slaying Immortal Four Swords and other Magical Treasures to the Tong Tian Sect Master, then headed towards the Tushita Palace in the Pure Clear Heaven.
Neither Laozi nor the Lord of Primordial Beginning had expected that Wukong would return after his departure, as they were in the midst of forging a thought of a Heavenly Dao Saint at that moment.
Laozi glanced at Wukong and said, "Why have you come back again?"
Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Wukong chuckled twice and said, "I came to ask for the Supreme Elderly Lord’s assistance! Who in this world doesn’t know that ’The commands of the Supreme Elderly Lord shall be hurled as swiftly as a law’? Your expertise in Artifact Refining and Alchemy are second to none. This time, I need your help in forging a Magical Treasure for me."
Upon hearing this, Laozi commented, "Well, you’ve praised me to the skies, leaving me no choice but to help you."
The Lord of Primordial Beginning nodded and added, "Wukong, you’re quite crafty indeed."
Wukong took the Eastern Emperor Bell out and released the shattered Heaven and Earth within it. He held the fragment of the shattered world in the palm of his hand and compressed it with Mana, lest it burst the bounds of Laozi’s Tushita Palace. Both the Lord of Primordial Beginning and Laozi were surprised when they saw the shattered Heaven and Earth in Wukong’s hands, their eyes then gleamed with excitement.
"Could this be... one of the worlds that was destroyed in the past aeons?" the Lord of Primordial Beginning asked hesitantly.
"Indeed! During my journey to the Chaotic World, I killed the Tathagata and captured this shattered world. It is said that the Hong Jun Taoist Patriarch once refined a shattered world and forged it into a Heaven and Earth Seal. Once invoked, it was as if the eternal blue sky itself was pressing down, and even a Heavenly Dao Saint would be squashed into pulp," Wukong explained.
Laozi nodded and said, "Indeed, our teacher does possess a Heaven and Earth Seal. Although the Chaotic World is boundless and vast, such shattered worlds are extremely hard to come by."
The Chaotic World was like a vast ocean to a tiny shrimp, boundless and endless.
Wukong continued, "With my abilities alone, it is difficult to refine this Chaotic World. However, if the Supreme Elderly Lord would lend a hand, it would be much easier!"
Laozi replied, "Good, I have never forged such a treasure before, so I’ll give it a try today."
The Lord of Primordial Beginning added, "Refining this broken world is no easy task. I’ll help as well."
On that day, Wukong had already performed a rudimentary refinement, but it was hardly effective. It still had to be re-smelted in an alchemy furnace to become a truly powerful Magical Treasure. Impressive treasures cannot be created simply by randomly applying True Fire to heaven and earth treasures.
Wukong said, "Then I’ll have to trouble you."
Laozi opened the Eight Trigrams Cauldron, which was also an Innate Magical Treasure. Containing the Qi of the Five Elements and Eight Trigrams, anything forged from it would be imbued with the essence of the Eight Trigrams, bringing it closer to "Tao". Moreover, the flames within were none other than the Tushita Purple Fire. Although not an innate flame, it was refined by Laozi with his own Cultivation and was immensely hot. It also had a kind of spirituality and contained the laws of the Heavenly Dao.
To forge a Magical Treasure, the first essential element is a good cauldron; the second, the flame; and the third, the Cultivation Level and ability of the person involved.
With three Heavenly Dao Saints working together, using the Eight Trigrams Cauldron and Tushita Purple Fire to forge a Magical Treasure, the resulting artifact would undoubtedly be extraordinary.
Previously, when Laozi knocked Wukong unconscious with the Vajra Bracelet and put him into the Eight Trigrams Cauldron, he used the Samadhi True Fire, not the Tushita Purple Fire. Otherwise, where would Wukong be today? He would have been smelted into ash by the Tushita Purple Fire.
In his heart, Wukong couldn’t help but reflect. In the past, he had been captured by Laozi, but now he was entering with dignity, even collaborating with him to forge a Magical Treasure. Fate truly was unpredictable; who could have imagined that the pitiable Stone Monkey who was once toyed with in the palms of others would today become a Heavenly Dao Saint who commanded awe in all directions? The Victorious Fighting Buddha?
Lost in thought for a moment, Wukong saw the Eight Trigrams Cauldron open and hurriedly tossed the shattered Heaven and Earth into it.
The three of them simultaneously channeled their mana to suppress and stabilize the broken heaven and earth, lest it expand and rupture the very Tushita Palace.
This expanse of broken world may have existed for countless years, its Heavenly Dao laws had long since perished. One could say that, aside from desolation, this world no longer aroused any feelings in the three of them.
"If we cannot overcome the Calamity of the Original Yuan, the Earth Immortal Realm might end up in the same state. Perhaps some remnants will be left behind, eventually found by later generations and used to refine magical treasures." This thought emerged in the hearts of all three, followed by a collective sigh of resignation.
The Calamity of the Original Yuan!
These four characters weigh heavily on the chest of every cultivator in the Earth Immortal Realm, suffocating them with mere thought.
The shattered world was cast into the Eight Trigrams Cauldron, with the Tushita Purple Fire blazing fiercely. The extremely high temperature caused a series of snapping and crackling explosions to resound.
Wukong exclaimed loudly, "The Heavenly Dao Saint refined the Heaven and Earth Seal, and being a Great Dao Sage, naturally possesses such skills. I am, however, not as capable. I have comprehended the Dao of the Great Mountains and Rivers; this seal shall be refined into the Great Mountains and Rivers Seal, incorporating my understanding of the Dao of the Great Mountains and Rivers."
Without a doubt, the Heaven and Earth Seal is much heavier than the Great Mountains and Rivers Seal—one represents the whole of heaven and earth while the latter only pertains to the mountains and rivers within it.
However, it includes the concept of "people’s fate" which represents the will of the people. If one can truly incorporate the essence of "people’s fate" into it, it won’t be much inferior to the Heaven and Earth Seal.
Wukong, who had turned the world upside down, naturally had a deep understanding of the Dao of the Great Mountains and Rivers. However, the outcome largely depended on Laozi’s performance. After all, he was the primary artifact refiner, with Wukong and the Lord of Primordial Beginning merely assisting, contributing some True Qi, insights into the "Dao", or some True Fire.
Laozi’s hands moved rapidly, casting spell after spell and flinging talismans into the Eight Trigrams Cauldron. The Tushita Purple Fire blazed, morphing into beasts, demons, deities, Buddhas, flying swords, hammers, halberds, pitchforks, thunder, and lightning—as many as eighteen different forms—to incinerate the shattered world.
The broken world began to melt slowly under the Tushita Purple Fire’s intense heat. The laws of the Heavenly Dao rumbled within, trembling and dissolving the shattered world into a liquid that gathered together... Wukong and the Lord of Primordial Beginning were not idle either, continuously casting talismans. Wukong even took the essence of the Dao of people’s fate from his Great Dao Golden Lotus and, capturing its aura, cast it into the Eight Trigrams Cauldron.
Laozi smelted the broken world into a four-cornered seal, then etched the fragmented mountains and rivers of the shattered world onto its surface. Wukong’s whiff of people’s fate was dispersed by the Tushita Purple Fire into clumps of green qi, which were then engulfed by the fire before being directed towards the four-cornered seal.
"Tushita Purple Fire, heed my command; laws of the Heavenly Dao, boundless and endless. United, you forge greatness; people’s fate, merge within. Upon mountains and rivers foundation rests, with people’s fate as the base; the Great Seal of Mountains and Rivers shall be completed! Supreme Elderly Lord, let it be as swift as a command!" Laozi bellowed, reciting a lengthy, rapid spell where each word invoked the rumbling of the Heavenly Dao laws.
"Three Thousand Great Paths, enter my Golden Lotus; from the Great Dao Golden Lotus, the essence of people’s fate is drawn. The world’s people value fate above all; citizens cannot be apart from it. Heaven and earth shall be the water, people’s fate the sea; boundless the mountains and rivers, profound the weight of fate! The Dao of people’s fate, let it be as swift as a command!" Wukong softly called out, as the Great Dao Golden Lotus within him gently swayed and emitted strands of people’s fate.
These essences of people’s fate surged into the Eight Trigrams Cauldron, turned into green smoke by the Tushita Purple Fire, and then were drawn into the four-cornered seal bit by bit.
The Lord of Primordial Beginning softly chanted, "The soul and the five viscera of the Venerable’s primeval form, the Azure Dragon and White Tiger carry banners in array, accompanied by the Vermilion Bird and Xuan Wu as guards of my presence."
With the casting of a spell, over nine thousand talismans flew into the Eight Trigrams Cauldron, transforming into the Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger, Xuan Wu, Qilin, Bi Xi, Chi Wen, Zi Ya, Pi Xiu, and other such mythical creatures. There were also some whose names could not be called and will not be recounted here.
These mythical creatures were refined by the Tushita Purple Fire and deeply imprinted into the four-cornered seal.
Wukong continuously injected the essence of people’s fate into it, while Laozi managed the Tushita Purple Fire, shaping the seal and refining the talismans and the essence of fate into green smoke, which was then infused into the four-cornered seal. This artifact refining was the most arduous Laozi ever undertook since his emergence, having worked tirelessly for nine full years without completing his task!
Finally, on the tenth year, the seal burst forth with bursts of green light.
