Chapter 276: Chapter 264: Tong Tian General Achieves Three Thousand Paths
Wukong, with six hundred billion refined Primordial Spirit Thoughts, made his way to the Tushita Palace, where Golden Horn and Silver Horn, the two apprentices, greeted him.
"Haha, Laozi, I’ve brought you some good stuff!" Wukong didn’t bother having the two apprentices report his arrival; he simply flipped into the Alchemy Room with a somersault.
Putting down the Palm-Leaf Fan he was holding, Laozi said, "Oh! Wukong, what good thing have you brought me?"
Wukong tossed the gourd in his hand over to Laozi, who caught it and quickly uncapped it, taking a sniff with his nose.
"Hmm? Primordial Spirit Thoughts of a Heavenly Dao Saint!" Laozi couldn’t help but feel secretly astonished in his heart. He hadn’t expected Wukong to have killed Lu Ya, let alone refine his Primordial Spirit Thoughts, which was truly unbelievable.
"Exactly! That Lu Ya had a good plan, but he didn’t expect that the Victorious Fighting Buddha had already grasped the Buddhist Profound Mystery and cultivated his past self. So, Lu Ya was cornered in the time tunnel by me and my past self, unable to advance or retreat, and finally, he hid in the river of time. I then joined forces with the Victorious Fighting Buddha to slay the Great Sun Tathagata. By now, the remaining three hundred billion thoughts of Lu Ya must have perished as well," said Wukong with a wave of his hand.
Lu Ya’s scheme was indeed ingenious, but he hadn’t foreseen that the Victorious Fighting Buddha would cultivate his past self. Thus, a situation that was originally advantageous for him turned on its head, and ultimately, it led to his death.
Laozi shook the gourd twice, and the Primordial Spirit Thoughts inside were refined into a liquid, which made it extremely convenient for concocting Elixir Pills.
After pondering for a moment, Laozi said, "So many Primordial Spirit Thoughts, a full six hundred billion, I’m afraid they can be refined into twenty Nine Revolutions Heavenly Dao Saint Pills. The rest can be made into a lot of Gathering Qi Pills, Nine Turns Elixir, Supreme Primordial Golden Elixir Pills... Lu Ya’s death was indeed meaningful; so many Elixir Pills will undoubtedly be a great help in overcoming the tribulation of Yuan Era."
Wukong nodded. He hadn’t expected that six hundred billion Primordial Spirit Thoughts could only produce twenty Nine Revolutions Heavenly Dao Saint Pills; these Elixir Pills indeed seemed incredibly precious! However, he asked, "How long will it take to refine all six hundred billion Primordial Spirit Thoughts into Elixir Pills?"
Laozi replied, "About a thousand years, I suppose. After all, they are the thoughts of a saint; they are not easy to refine. I still need to find my fellow disciples, the Lord of Primordial Beginning and the Tong Tian Sect Master, to help."
Wukong laughed, "Very well, I’ll leave it to you, Laozi. When the Elixir Pills are ready, let’s have a good share. I’ll go now and invite the Lord of Primordial Beginning and the Tong Tian Sect Master over!"
Wukong was always in a hurry. Without waiting for Laozi’s response, he flipped into a somersault and headed towards the Jade Purity Heaven.
Laozi couldn’t help shaking his head and saying, "This monkey..."
Having resolved many major karma, Wukong felt a significant change in his own mindset; it was no longer as gloomy as it was after his rebirth, meticulously planning for everything to be perfect and acting with extreme caution. Now that he had become a saint and severed numerous karmic ties, no great threat lingered, and his nature naturally regained some of its former ease.
When Wukong arrived in Jade Purity Heaven, he encountered Guang Chengzi.
Since his appointment to the divine role, Guang Chengzi had reaped great benefits, with his mana soaring crazily.
However, he was still someone whose Three Flowers and Five Qi had been stripped away, and he was somewhat inferior to the older Primordial Golden Immortals.
Upon seeing Wukong, Guang Chengzi bowed deeply, offering a huge salute, for Wukong had now become a Heavenly Dao Saint, someone who stood equally with the Three Pure Ones. Guang Chengzi did not dare to be negligent and said, "Greetings, Rebel Sage."
Wukong said, "Great Immortal Guang Chengzi, no need for such formalities. Is the Lord of Primordial Beginning in the Jade Void Palace?"
Guang Chengzi replied, "My master is indeed inside, allow me to guide you to him."
"Good!" Wukong answered.
Guang Chengzi then led Wukong to meet the Lord of Primordial Beginning. The Jade Void Palace was nearly as impressive as the Tong Tian Sect Master’s Biyou Palace, but whereas Biyou Palace clearly displayed wealth and grandeur, the Jade Void Palace had a more modest, refined air. The Tushita Palace of Laozi, however, was the most unpretentious; it was truly incomprehensible how this elder brother thought; perhaps his nature was inclined towards frugality, and he had rather used good materials for making Elixir Pills than for furnishing his abode.
The Lord of Primordial Beginning was leisurely sipping tea, and Wukong’s timing was coincidental.
"Haha, Wukong has arrived. Come join us for some tea," Lord of Primordial Beginning said, beckoning to Wukong after spotting him.
He had already sensed that Lu Ya had perished. It was unexpected that within about a week, Lu Ya would meet his demise. Wukong’s methods were indeed formidable! It wasn’t easy to kill a Heavenly Dao Saint, of course, except for the Chaos Heaven Demons, as they were ultimately created by the Great Dao Principles and lacked the solidity of the Heavenly Dao Saints in the Earth Immortal Realm, presenting a sense of being outwardly strong but inwardly weak.
Wukong didn’t stand on ceremony. After drinking tea, he got down to business with Lord of Primordial Beginning, saying, "I’ve extracted six hundred billion Primordial Spirit Thoughts from the Great Sun Tathagata and Subhuti, all of which I’ve given to Laozi for alchemy. According to him, it’s possible to produce twenty Nine Revolutions Heavenly Dao Saint Pills and various other divine elixirs within a thousand years. However, the Primordial Spirit Thoughts of a Heavenly Dao Saint are too resilient and will require Lord of Primordial Beginning’s intervention. That’s why I’ve come to you, brazenly asking for help."
Lord of Primordial Beginning nodded slightly after hearing this and said, "Now that the situation in Heaven and Earth is settled, we must prepare fully for the calamities of Meeting Yuan. Rest assured, I will assist our elder brother."
Wukong replied, "Thank you, Lord of Primordial Beginning. I also need to call on Tong Tian Sect Master, so I won’t keep you any longer!"
Lord of Primordial Beginning nodded his head, escorted Wukong to the gate of Jade Void Palace. Wukong performed a somersault and headed towards the Jade Purity Heaven.
Upon arriving at Biyou Palace in the Jade Purity Heaven, he relayed the situation to Tong Tian Sect Master.
However, Tong Tian Sect Master shook his head slightly and said, "I can’t. I have now reached a critical juncture in my breakthrough to become a Great Dao Saint! Distraction by the alchemy would be a greater loss."
Wukong understood that Tong Tian Sect Master was trying to seize the Three Thousand Great Paths to testify as a Great Dao Saint. Now hearing that Tong Tian Sect Master had reached a critical moment, he couldn’t ask him to help with the alchemy. Besides, the Three Pure Ones originated from the same source, that of Pangu’s Primordial Spirit qi, so if other saints were to help with the alchemy, the result wouldn’t be ideal and the elixirs would end up impure.
Tong Tian Sect Master then said, "Don’t worry. With Lord of Primordial Beginning’s aid, Laozi’s alchemy pace will only be slightly delayed, but it won’t hold things up."
Tong Tian Sect Master had some grievances against Lord of Primordial Beginning and Laozi. He had been suppressed by them combining forces with the Buddhist Family’s saints during the Middle Ages, which had been brutally disappointing, causing Tong Tian Sect Master to show little respect for them, calling them by their names directly.
Wukong nodded and said, "I only thought that if we could finish the elixirs sooner, we might be able to make more, especially with the calamities of Meeting Yuan looming over us."
Tong Tian Sect Master replied, "That’s why attaining the status of Great Dao Saint is even more crucial! The path you’ve taken is so unique. It’s truly baffling that with all Three Thousand Great Paths complete, you’ve only managed to become a Heavenly Dao Saint. If you carve out the way of a Great Dao Saint, you will undoubtedly be among the topmost existences of Great Dao Saints."
Wukong then drew a talisman and threw it out, heading towards the Great Pure Heaven to let Laozi know about the situation. Afterward, he sat with Tong Tian Sect Master, discussing the Dao.
Meanwhile, Victorious Fighting Buddha rode a White Elephant to the skies above the Asura Blood Sea.
This Great White Elephant, born of the collective will of the beings in the Ultimate Bliss World, was offered up to Victorious Fighting Buddha as his mount, as a sign of their reverence and admiration, since he had enabled them to live such equal, free, blissful, and prosperous lives.
When Ksitigarbha King saw Victorious Fighting Buddha approaching, he quickly rode Diting over and asked, "What brings Buddha here?"
Victorious Fighting Buddha gave a slight nod and said, "Tong Tian Sect Master is launching an attempt to reach the realm of a Great Dao Saint, which will leave a vacancy among the Heavenly Dao Saints. I have come to help you break open the Asura Blood Sea. You can then contend with the Nether River. Slay it, resolving the karmic ties from your grand vow. In doing so, you may seize the opportunity to attain sainthood."
Ksitigarbha King felt overjoyed inside. Sainthood was such a tempting prospect that even someone as steady as he couldn’t resist feeling the immense allure.
"Then I thank Buddha very much!" Ksitigarbha King said.
"To attain sainthood is not easy; it still depends on your own cultivation in the days to come. The Nether River is the bondage that holds you. The karmic consequences of your grand vow should rightly befall it," Victorious Fighting Buddha said slowly. "Becoming a saint isn’t so simple. You must sever all ties, see through yourself. Once you have a clear vision of yourself, then can you perceive the changes in the Heavenly Dao. Only then can your Primordial Spirit transcend."
Ksitigarbha King pressed his palms together and said, "Ksitigarbha understands. I thank Buddha for the guidance."
Victorious Fighting Buddha said no more. He dismounted from the Great White Elephant, withdrew it, and then began forming Dharma Seals with his hands.
The fate of Nether River remains uncertain. Please stay tuned for the next episode. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote with your recommendation and monthly tickets at Qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
