Chapter 113: Chapter 113: The Great Battle with the Buddhist Sect Twenty Deities
Sun Wukong was just about to leave the Western Heavenly Buddha Land when he was intercepted by Indra leading another nineteen heavens from the Buddhist Sect.
Sun Wukong shouted, "Emperor Gou Chen, you’re here to block your Grandfather Sun again!"
Indra laughed oddly, "Now, I am no longer Emperor Gou Chen. I have rejoined the Buddhist Sect and am in charge of the twenty heavens."
Sun Wukong was extremely annoyed, but seeing that the twenty men were all formidable, how could he dare to fight recklessly? With a spell cast from his hand and a murmured incantation in his heart, he performed a somersault to escape, but how could Indra let him off so easily? As the twenty heavens raised a bodhi seed in their hands, the twenty seeds were offered to the sky and instantly transformed into a sky-covering net that surrounded Sun Wukong in the center, trapping him.
"Asking for a beating!" Sun Wukong yelled, swinging his Ruyi Jingu Bang that produced a skyful of stick shadows raining down.
Dhritarashtra, Vaisravana, Virupaksa, and Virudhaka then chanted their spells, and the sky net immediately tightened, blocking the myriad stick shadows inside the heavenly net!
Originally, the Four Heavenly Kings had betrayed the Buddhist Sect and defected to the Jade Emperor, but now the Buddhist Sect had chosen four new Heavenly Kings from among the Vajra Arhats.
Sun Wukong was trapped and struggling to escape when suddenly a sword light fell from the sky, entwining a fire dragon—Ying Zheng!
The First Emperor unleashed the Son of Heaven Sword technique. As the fire dragon descended from the high heavens, it entangled the heavenly net in a frenzy of slaughter.
The twenty heavens were shocked as they saw the heavenly net about to be torn open, but just then Indra uttered a light command, and a Five Elements Cauldron was cast toward Ying Zheng’s Niwan Palace.
Ying Zheng had no choice but to retreat, landing a strike on the Five Elements Cauldron with his sword and using the impact to fly backwards.
Sun Wukong nearly got caught by the heavenly net, causing his heart to race with alarm, so he had to bring out the Green Lotus to block it.
Indra, wielding the Five Elements Cauldron, fought fiercely against Ying Zheng, while the nineteen heavens each used their magical powers to capture Sun Wukong. In desperation, Sun Wukong yelled out, furious beyond measure. His Ruyi Jingu Bang, under the cover of the heavenly net, struggled to change freely; he wanted to enlarge it to several hundred zhang to sweep away the net, but it was hindered as soon as it expanded.
At that moment, another sword light arrived to kill—it was Shen Gongbao!
Shen Gongbao, holding his Treasured Sword, flashed stunning sword lights as he attacked Vaisravana.
Just then, Great Brahma dropped his section of the heavenly net and took up a silver halberd to battle Shen Gongbao.
Great Brahma turned out to be of Daluo Golden Immortal level, having merely concealed his power until now. He revealed his true strength with Shen Gongbao’s appearance, but fortunately, he was still much weaker than the likes of Great Might Heavenly Dragon, allowing the impoverished Shen Gongbao to hold his own against him.
Sun Wukong, relying on the formidable power of the Green Lotus, was not taken by the eighteen Taiyi Golden Immortals heavens.
Ying Zheng, holding the Son of Heaven Sword, fought Indra with the Son of Heaven Sword Art. Dragon Qi roared forth, with imperial might shooting straight to the clouds, but since Indra had obtained the Five Elements Cauldron, he had pondered day and night and refined the art of the Five Elements to perfection. Five-Colored Divine Light burst forth to the sky, entangling with the imperial Qi without falling behind.
Ying Zheng shouted, "White Dragon Overturns the Sea!"
With a flick of his sword technique, the void shattered, drawing the waters of the East Sea to inundate Indra.
Indra only had to offer the Five Elements Cauldron forward, and from it emerged a giant yellow dragon. This dragon spewed a beam of yellow light, which blocked all the sea water.
This dragon, being of the earth element which overcomes water, coupled with Indra’s mana being far more profound than Ying Zheng’s, naturally blocked it in an instant.
Unable to contain his frustration, Ying Zheng invoked the Tiger Talisman, summoning a hundred-zhang giant tiger that tangled with and fought the yellow dragon, gaining the upper hand. After a while, the tiger tore the yellow dragon to pieces.
Indra picked up the Square Sky Halberd and whistled. Coming from afar was a huge White Elephant, who, with a swing of its long trunk, came slapping down on the hundred-zhang giant tiger.
This White Elephant was Indra’s mount; he rode it on his patrols through the heavens of Tianzhu Country, preaching Buddhist Law.
Although the White Elephant’s power was not great, it was clad in battle armor, blessed by Buddhist Law, and Ying Zheng was too preoccupied to control the Tiger Talisman while also contending with the Five Elements Cauldron with the Son of Heaven Sword. Battles among Daluo Golden Immortals should not be underestimated; a moment of negligence could lead to failure.
Sun Wukong angrily said, "The Buddhist Sect is truly despicable and shameless to use such lowly means!"
Having said this, his body violently expanded, but the heavenly net continued to contract tightly. When he had grown to about twenty or so zhang, he could no longer grow taller.
"Heavenly Emperor Sword Art! Sword Dao of Slaughter!" Sun Wukong pinched his fingers into a sword technique and gave a light shout.
He started the Sword Dao of Slaughter, establishing its foundational principles, then employed the Heavenly Emperor Sword Art, immediately filling the air with a fierce killing intent that swept across the fields, the murderous aura piercing the heavens! At a single point from Sun Wukong’s hand towards the sky, countless streaks of Sword Qi burst forth, striking the heavenly net with a clang and clash of noise.
Then followed a massive Great Mountains and Rivers Seal!
"Boom!"
The Great Mountains and Rivers Seal was indescribably heavy, as weighty as mountains and as solemn as the state itself!
The Dragon King Virupaksa exclaimed, "This is bad! This Dharma Seal embodies the path of the mountains and states, extremely heavy! If this continues, I fear the heavenly net might be torn apart by this Great Seal! Everyone invoke your respective heavenly intentions to block it."
These twenty heavens of the Buddhist Sect were exceedingly strange; each possessed a unique heavenly intention.
Like Vaisravana, symbolizing wealth; Virudhaka, symbolizing punishment; and Asura, symbolizing sin... It was only when the intent of all eighteen Heavenly Realms burst forth that they could withstand the Great Mountains and Rivers Seal! It was also because the Great Mountains and Rivers Seal was too heavy, requiring the combined intent of all eighteen Heavenly Realms to do so.
Mountains and rivers, where are they not found?
Altars of the earth and state, where do they not exist?
The intent of these twenty Heavenly Realms in comparison to the mountains, rivers, and altars of the earth and state, was simply a heterodox path, but they prevailed in numbers and could withstand the pressure.
Wukong took the Green Lotus and, with a fierce sweep alongside the net of heaven and earth, emitted a burst of green light. With ferocity, he struck the Great Mountains and Rivers Seal with the Heavenly Emperor’s Giant Seal, and immediately, a series of explosive sounds ensued; the net of heaven and earth ultimately could not bear the pressure and, with a loud bang, shattered into pieces.
Wukong emerged covered in blood from the net of heaven and earth and, not daring to linger, used his Escape Technique to flee.
Dhritarashtra shouted, "Where do you think you’re going!"
He threw his silver alms bowl into the air, landing it squarely on Wukong’s head, causing him to stagger, nearly forcing his Primordial Spirit to fly out of the Niwan Palace.
It was fortunate that his physical body was tough; otherwise, this blow might have truly shattered the Niwan Palace.
Wukong, surrounded by eighteen Taiyi Golden Immortals, had to use the Three Heads and Six Arms Technique to barely stand his ground, but he was still repeatedly struck, accumulating seventy to eighty wounds all over his body in a short time!
Wukong fought desperately against Vaisravana with his sword and made his way to the Dragon King Posa.
The Dragon King Posa, frightened out of his wits, struck with his Posa Divine Sword, only to be swept away by a stroke of the Green Lotus, a club then striking his forehead and erupting in a bright spray of blood like peach blossoms in bloom, his brains splattering everywhere, his Primordial Spirit flew out and was whirled up by the green light, ground into ashes. In the end, he met the same fate as one drawing water with a sieve.
"Posa!" cried another from the Moon Palace, wielding the Halberd and aiming for Wukong’s chest.
Wukong naturally blocked it, feinted a move, and struck at the Sun Palace Heavenly King with the Green Lotus.
With one sweep of the Green Lotus, the Magical Treasure was ground to dust, and with a fierce pound of his staff, he struck another peach blossom bloom, scattering the five flavors, slaying the Sun Palace Heavenly King on the spot.
Wukong’s Three Heads and Six Arms had also been decimated, one head destroyed, with only two heads and four arms left to endure desperately.
"This is tough! The calculations of the Buddhist Sect are truly fierce; I’m afraid I’m really going to die here!" Wukong could not help but inwardly lament.
The Three Pure Ones knew about this but it was not appropriate for them to intervene. The Heavenly Court was currently under the control of the Jade Emperor, who was very powerful. Issuing a decree to rescue Wukong might not be appropriate. Moreover, Water Curtain Cave was hostile to the Heavenly Court. If the Three Pure Ones openly helped Wukong, it would be tantamount to tearing their faces with the Heavenly Court, implying they wanted the Jade Emperor to step down. Furthermore, Wukong was not so important to the Three Pure Ones; their actions were merely intended to use him as a pawn to restructure the powers between heaven and earth.
Saints, indeed, these saints do not possess the benevolent hearts of Confucius or Mencius.
This delicate game required even the saints to tread carefully.
Wukong slayed both Posa and the Sun Palace Heavenly King, but far from alleviating the crisis, it caused the remaining sixteen to unite in common hatred and attack with increased ferocity!
A silver staff struck Wukong from behind, causing him to spout fresh blood, his internal organs quivering.
Had he not practiced the Primordial Body Refining Technique, his soul would have been scattered by now; how could he survive so many blows?
Ying Zheng watched intently. If this continued, Wukong might be beaten to death, and that would be difficult to explain to Wukong!
Ying Zheng, resolved, unleashed the Path of Emperors. Honoring himself and cultivating his own path, behind him rose a three-hundred-zhang-tall Dharma Body of Ying Zheng, wielding the Son of Heaven Sword, crowned with the Flat Sky Crown, the imperial aura unmistakable, his overbearing demeanor compelling submission.
"The intent of the Path of Emperors is indeed heavy!" exclaimed Indra, who was also activating his intent of the Heavenly Realms.
Indra’s intent of the Heavenly Realms was—war!
Ying Zheng’s Dharma Body raised the Son of Heaven Sword, shouted "Kill!" and thrust it toward Indra’s chest.
A Dharma Body materialized behind Indra as well, showing eight heads and sixteen arms, each limb holding a silver bottle, Halberd, iron sword, curved knife, willow branch, bodhi, Sarira, scripture, lotus, Demon-Subduing Pestle, alms bowl... Upon Indra’s thunderous command, the intent of war, representing destruction and brutality, clashed with the imperial intent.
"Boom!"
Ultimately, Ying Zheng made a fatal misstep; his Dharma Body shattered, but he also wounded Indra, for his long-standing comprehension was not in vain. Moreover, the Path of Emperors was far more powerful than the average journey, as he once was the unparalleled Emperor of ages past!
Without a moment’s pause, Ying Zheng waved his sleeve and released twelve bronze figures!
These twelve bronze figures had been cast during Ying Zheng’s rule by melting down weapons from across the land, each towering two hundred zhang tall and immensely sturdy.
The twelve bronze figures surrounded Indra and launched a barrage of punches and kicks!
Struck by a punch, Indra spit out a mouthful of old blood and hastily raised the Five Elements Cauldron above his head. He tore out the Five Elements Formation, raising it skyward to grind the bronze figures into the array.
This battle of magic was turning dire, and Ying Zheng looked set to be defeated!
