Chapter 110: The Traveler Furiously Kills the Lion Camel King
Chapter 110: Chapter 110: The Traveler Furiously Kills the Lion Camel King
Jade Tripod True Man was at a loss for words when questioned by Sun Wukong. He had already attained the level of Daluo Golden Immortal even before his Three Flowers and Five Qi were diminished by the Nine Bends Yellow River Formation, and now he had regained his status as a Daluo Golden Immortal. If he claimed not to know the least bit about the law of cause and effect, it would simply be a blatant lie. Moreover, he couldn’t afford to lose face like that.
Jade Tripod True Man said with a smile, "Since that’s the case, why don’t I resolve this issue of cause and effect for you? How does that sound?"
Sun Wukong sneered, "You? How are you going to resolve this issue of cause and effect? Perhaps by finding me a Dao Companion for me to kill?"
Jade Tripod True Man didn’t get angry, but Yang Jian was so furious that his Three Corpse Gods were practically thundering—a mockery of his master was akin to a slap in his own face.
Jade Tripod True Man said, "We shall have a magical combat, and if you lose, you’ll just let my disciple go."
Sun Wukong replied, "Well then, well then, since Jade Tripod True Man has spoken thus, you are my senior and I shall give you some respect. Today, you may take Yang Jian with you."
Sun Wukong was no fool; Jade Tripod True Man was one of the Twelve Golden Immortals from the past, a senior among the members of the Taoist Sect. Moreover, his skills were not weak; otherwise, how could he have taught a disciple like Yang Jian? Since he dared propose a contest of magic, he must be confident. It would be better for Sun Wukong to gracefully accede and avoid potentially losing face in battle.
Taken aback, Jade Tripod True Man said, "It seems inappropriate to leave it like this; let us do battle after all."
Sun Wukong insisted, "No need, True Man, you are an elder, and we of the younger generation must show respect. If True Man wishes to spar, then I shall oblige another time. When I next catch Yang Jian, you can appear again."
His words were quite cunning, clearly stating that Jade Tripod True Man was an elder. To insist on combat would seem like bullying the junior, risking a loss of face. The latter part of his statement, however, subtly disparaged Yang Jian’s spiritual resolve.
Yang Jian, infuriated, was about to rush into a fight but was stopped by a telepathic message from Jade Tripod True Man, and could only stomp his feet and retreat.
Observing this, Sun Wukong couldn’t help bursting into laughter.
Jade Tripod True Man said, "Since Green Emperor has spoken to this extent, then I must thank you."
With these words, he had already taken Yang Jian and left. Sun Wukong did not stop them and, after they were gone, went to the pinned down Lion Camel King.
"I say, Golden Crazed, you truly don’t know what’s good for you!" Sun Wukong mocked.
"Just kill me, spare me the lecture! When I die, I shall enter the Western Paradise of ultimate bliss." The Lion Camel King was so badly crushed by the Great Mountains and Rivers Seal that his bones were broken and he bled from all orifices, unable to let his Primordial Spirit escape.
Sun Wukong thought, "This guy has been brainwashed by the Buddhist Sect!" He said, "Heh, even the Mountain- Moving Great Saint has fallen to such a state! And after death, you wish to enter the Western Paradise? Are you the foolish one, or is that Glazed Light King Pharmacist Buddha?"
The Lion Camel King angrily retorted, "Mountain- Moving Great Saint? Heh, wasn’t it precisely because of that title that I fell into calamity? You insult the Buddha Ancestor, beware of retribution!"
Sun Wukong laughed, "I, Old Sun, have jumped outside of the Three Realms and am not within the Five Elements. Not even Tathagata can touch me, let alone that Pharmacist Buddha."
The Lion Camel King sneered back, "Though Tathagata Buddha is revered as the sovereign of this age, his mana is still slightly inferior to that of Pharmacist Buddha Ancestor!"
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong thought to himself, "Trouble, trouble! The waters of the Buddhist Family run deep, and this unassuming Glazed Light King Pharmacist Buddha is even more powerful than Tathagata? If I can’t even escape a palm strike from Tathagata, then there’s even less hope against the Pharmacist Buddha!" Though shocked, he said aloud, "I’m not afraid! The current struggle between Buddhism and Taoism, if he dares to meddle recklessly, the Three Pure Ones would not stand for it."
This was true. Except for the few Buddhas who had come via the Forty-Nine Heavens Ladder and the one time they used Xiao Qing to calculate Wukong, the Western Heavenly Buddha Land hadn’t really deployed any Buddha-level figures!
Western Heaven had three thousand Buddhas and countless Bodhisattvas. Among these three thousand Buddhas, conservatively speaking, there must be several hundred Daluo Golden Immortals and Sect Founders, likely not limited to just Tathagata, Burning Lamp, and Maitreya. The depths of Western Heaven were vast, perhaps even more unfathomable than the Heavenly Court, and difficult to speculate on. But don’t think the Heavenly Court was weak; it too was a power accumulated over tens of thousands of years.
The current struggle between Buddhist and Taoist factions mostly took place among the younger generation, with Sect Founders and those above rarely taking action.
Should anyone dare to disrupt this balance, the Three Pure Ones might just applaud and cheer.
Should the Three Pure Ones become truly incensed, their disciples would surely be able to hold their own against the Buddhist Sect’s three thousand Buddhas and countless Bodhisattvas. Perhaps numerous Golden Immortals and countless Daluo... would emerge out of nowhere.
"Die, Macaque, lay down the butcher knife and become a Buddha on the spot! Convert to Buddhism, and I assure you a place as a Buddha in Western Heaven!" the Lion Camel King shouted, cursing and tempting at the same time.
"Heh! What’s the point of becoming a Buddha? To move like a walking corpse, knowing only how to chant scriptures," Sun Wukong said.
"Your name is Sun Wukong; doesn’t that mean you’ve comprehended the Buddhist doctrine and could become a Buddha instantly?" the Lion Camel King said.
"My name is Sun Wukong; I’ve seen through the empty facade of the Buddhist doctrine. I’ve looked ahead and seen the true face of these hypocritical Buddha Bodhisattvas, seen the true nature of the Buddhist doctrine! It’s not about comprehending the doctrine to become a Buddha on the spot! You silly lion, after converting to Buddhism, you’re indeed formidable, having learned their sophistry," Sun Wukong said as he fiercely struck the Lion Camel King’s head with his staff, making him cough up a mouthful of blood.
The Lion Camel King coughed up blood and yelled, "Killing me is pointless, Sun Wukong! I am wholly devoted to Buddha."
Sun Wukong burst into a series of strange laughs and said, "Head towards Buddha? Well then, I’ll send you to the Western Paradise right away."
Sun Wukong always believed that Buddhist scriptures were nothing but sophistry, and that Taoism was the teaching of inaction, which was why in the dispute between Buddhism and Taoism, the latter has always been at a disadvantage in terms of doctrine, allowing Buddhism to snatch away a large share of Incense Willpower.
The Lion Camel King said, "Then send me there!"
Sun Wukong said, "You really have been brainwashed by the Buddhist Sect, haven’t you? Wait until I capture you and forge you with the will of revolution!"
Revolutionary will is unbreakable, and Sun Wukong firmly believed that he could shatter the Buddhist seed planted within the Lion Camel King.
As for the Lion Camel King at that moment, he was completely devoted to the Buddhist Sect, ready to give up his own life for it.
The Lion Camel King roared, "Nothing can shake my Buddhist heart!"
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong couldn’t help but burst into a series of mocking laughs, finding the Lion Camel King’s noise quite tiresome and feeling a surge of murderous intent.
Speaking of the Seven Great Sages, his relationship with the Bull Demon King was the deepest. When he was once recruited by the Heavenly Court, the Seven Great Sages utterly fell apart, and afterward, he only maintained some contact with the Bull Demon King. Not to mention that their sworn brotherhood was manipulated by someone in the shadows, who knew if the Lion Camel King was a Buddhist Sect plant? Judging by his behavior, he certainly seemed like one of their own.
The Lion Camel King said, "Whether you kill me or not, you’ve already forged a karma with the Medicine Buddha Ancestor, and one day, you will undoubtedly die!"
Sun Wukong was thoroughly annoyed by the Lion Camel King. Being a reincarnation of the fearless Great Sage Equalling Heaven from the past, he may have had some goodness in him, but his inclination for bravery and ferocity was inescapable. Moreover, having seen through the conspiracies of the Buddhist Sect, what little goodwill he had turned into hypocrisy.
"Then I’ll kill you!" Sun Wukong stated infuriated.
Having said that, he already swung his staff towards the Lion Camel King’s Niwan Palace.
The Lion Camel King had no time to let out a pitiful scream before his Niwan Palace was smashed open. His Primordial Spirit tried to escape, but it was suppressed by the Great Mountains and Rivers Seal, unable to break free. The seal pressed down and ground away until the Lion Camel King’s physical body along with his Primordial Spirit were ground into dust!
After killing the Lion Camel King, Sun Wukong snorted coldly and cursed, "Old Sun still remembered our past brotherly bond and wanted to spare your life, but who knew this foolish lion would be so ungrateful! Since you so desire to go to the Western Paradise, I’ll send you on your way!"
After killing the Lion Camel King, he directly descended from the sky and entered the Great Tang army camp.
Xue Rengui hurriedly came forward to greet him, saying, "Master!"
Sun Wukong used his staff to prevent him from kneeling and said, "There’s no need for formalities!"
Xue Rengui then stood up straight and said, "Thank you, Master, for saving my life."
Sun Wukong said, "You’re my disciple, who else would I save if not you? Just don’t end up like Old Sun here, killing your own master."
His words were odd, but it was just a complaint.
Anyone with a bit of cultivation knew about Sun Wukong killing Tang Sanzang on the Journey to the West and intending to refine and eat him; naturally, Xue Rengui had also heard of it and said, "That was because Master was being oppressed back then; that Tang Sanzang deserved to die, deserved to die!"
Sun Wukong laughed heartily but said nothing.
Qin Qiong approached, cupped his hands, and said, "I thank the senior for offering your help."
Sun Wukong said, "I have some ties with Emperor Li Zhi; there’s no need to thank me. Just have Li Zhi erect a few Taoist temples for Old Sun in return!"
Qin Qiong, hearing Sun Wukong address the Emperor by name, didn’t dare to say more. With such profound mana, Sun Wukong dared to fight the Heavenly Court in the past, let alone the mortal Emperor. He said, "Senior, rest assured, Qin Qiong will bear this in mind and report back to His Majesty."
Sun Wukong nodded and asked, "Is it possible to take down Peacock City?"
Qin Qiong replied, "Once the other two armies arrive, we will siege the city together, and then it can be taken."
The Tianzhu army was like a bunch of turtles hiding in their shells, unwilling to come out and choosing to hold out in the city instead of facing us, nullifying any strategies we may have and leaving us no choice but to attack forcefully.
Fortunately, the Great Tang was martially oriented and strong in military power. With the help of the Heaven-Defying Taoist and Sun Wukong, their advance was naturally as unstoppable as a breaking bamboo.
