Chapter 57: 57. Rendezvous! Demon King Surprised by the Plan

"Thank you for your time," the man said, bowing his head to Elsa.

"Sorry for the delay," Elsa apologised with her hands put together in a plea sign.

The man puffed his cheeks and flapped a hand in the air. "It’s nothing. So I will be back in a month, yes?"

Elsa nodded and the client walked out of the room. She relaxed on the spinning chair and exhaled loudly, looking around her room and rubbing the thing around her neck that her master had given her.

Elsa smiled as she looked at it, clutching it inside her fist and smiling again sheepishly like a child whose crush had just confessed undying love to.

Aaron had gifted her a slim golden necklace with a sapphire stone, the size of a peanut, as a pendant. She held it tightly within her grasp, her belly filled with butterflies as she spun around on her chair, humming and creating fantasies in her head about Aaron and different moments with him.

"Maybe he was just in a bad mood that day," she said to herself, remembering the event when Aaron had given her the cold shoulders.

Just a second after, she perked up and shook her head. Her eyes gaped with realisation.

"Ahhh!" she yelled out. "He was in a bad mood and I didn’t do anything to help me!"

Elsa smacked her forehead with the heel of her palm and sighed.

Bam!

Her fist slammed hard on her table and an ocean of tears flowed out of her eyes. She sniffled and admonished herself for not paying enough attention to her master.

Sniff! Sniff!

She humphed. "If only I wasn’t being selfish about my own feelings, I would have noticed and helped him however he would have wanted me to. Selfish Elsa! Selfish Elsa! Waah!"

She raised the blue stone on her necklace and stared at it with deep admiration. Elsa then brought the stone closer to her lips and kissed it.

"I’m sorry, master! Forgive me!" she yelled out inside the room where she sat alone. "I promise to keep your gift of love close to my heart!" she vowed, the tears still flowing.

Elsa was just humbugging the entire time from infatuation for Aaron Winters.

Knock! Knock!

The knocks caused her to jolt up. Elsa darted her eyes around and saw a piece of cloth with which she hurriedly wiped her face off the tears as well as the table. She then proceeded to clear her throat and take a confident stance, peering forward at the door.

"Yes! Come in," she answered the one who knocked.

The door opened and a short elderly woman, who walked with a cane, entered the office.

"Hello, my dear," she greeted.

Elsa’s face lit up with joy and happiness on seeing the woman’s face.

"Grandma?" Elsa muttered, reflexively rushing to hug her. As the two women were engaged in a passionate hug, having not seen each other for a long time, another familiar figure entered right behind the old lady.

The figure was a middle-aged man with a bald head that glistened remarkably.

"Dad?" Elsa said, taking a quick glance in his direction. "Daddy!"

This man was the Touch of Nirvana’s first-ever customer — Garolt Silverstone.

It’s been a few hours since Aaron started his journey to the rendezvous location at the outskirts of the Bambara village. The weather was hot and it wasn’t even noon yet.

Aaron looked onward and cleaned his face off the beads of sweat that filled it. He could see many figures many metres ahead of him. A few of these figures were familiar and many of them he couldn’t remember.

However, his eyes only searched for one person. Their leader, Souzane. That was the only person whose presence mattered to Aaron Winters and as far as he was concerned the rest of the group were pawns and dead weights that could be disposed of... the same also could said of Souzane but hers came with condition that only he knew about: if she played right, then she could remain by his side, otherwise she was disposable as well.

"I suppose that’s him, boss?" Whisper whispered to Souzane.

"Mhm," she asserted.

"Oi!" Whisper waved

Whisper proceeded a few steps forward, getting ahead of the rest of the group by a little over fifteen metres as he began to sway an arm sideways.

"Oi! Over here!" he shouted while waving emphatically at Aaron who was approaching them from a distance.

"Over here, man! Oi!"

Aaron saw him and scoffed. "I’m not blind, you dimwit," he cursed.

It took only a couple of minutes for Aaron to reach Whisper and then both of them walked to the rest of the group.

"Glad you could make it, pretty boy," Souzane said, patting Aaron’s shoulders.

"Pfft. So what’s the plan?" Aaron replied tersely.

"Why so serious?" Muzane attacked Aaron.

Aaron had not noticed Muzane but the voice drew his attention towards the burly young man.

"Oh? It’s you. I knew I perceived a familiar smell," Aaron retorted, causing the rest of the group to burst out laughing.

Muzane hissed and turned around to look at the group as they laughed. "Tch! What’s so funny, eh?" he lamented, drawing his sword from its holster and pointing the jagged blade of it to everyone around him.

Muzane felt a sudden pat on his back. "Calm down, little brother. It was already a joke."

The hulking young man hissed again and sheath his sword. "It better be!"

Souzane walked up to Aaron and pulled out a scroll that seemed to have a map and a lot of writings on it.

"Now, this is the plan," she said, waving the furled and tied up scroll in his face. Aaron exchanged glances between the scroll and the woman.

"Are you going to show me or what?" he asked.

"Swear to me that you are with us?"

Aaron sighed. "Why would I make such a long trip then, if I wasn’t?"

"Fair enough," Souzane replied as she began to untie and unfurl the scroll to show it to Aaron.

Aaron read through the contents of the scroll meticulously and by the time he was done he started to laugh.

"Tch! What’s so funny now?" Muzane asked. He was clearly pissed at Aaron as he put his hand on the hilt of his sword before Souzane stopped her.

"What’s the problem?" Souzane asked.

Aaron sat down and relaxed, looking each member of the bandit crew in the eyes while stopping and staying his gaze on Souzane.

He laughed and then pointed to the scroll. "This plan here is just stupid."
