Roland tiptoed out of Kasumi’s room and gently closed the door behind him. He was startled to find Karena standing beside him, her arms crossed and a resentful expression on her face.

"I was just asking her if she wanted anything to eat, but she looked like she was still sound asleep, so I didn’t want to disturb her."

"Mom usually wakes up so early. Why is she still asleep today?"

"It’s because you had a fever. Aunt Kasumi has been taking care of you around the clock for the past two days, barely getting any sleep herself. Let’s let her rest properly and not disturb her."

Karena accepted Roland’s explanation, though what choice did she have? She couldn’t exactly strip him naked to check if he was hiding her mother’s underwear, could she?
