Happy Little Farmer -
Chapter 771
Chapter 771: Chapter 771
In this place filled with all kinds of mysterious and bizarre happenings, you have to be extremely cautious when doing anything.
For example, earlier it was just one small mysterious entity, and Yang Fan still had the guts to face her head-on. But now, there were simply too many of them here. Adding everything up, there were over a hundred. Who knew how powerful these ghostly things really were?
In fact, the best approach would be to follow their rules and buy all of these people back.
That green-robed old man had already mistaken him for one of the buyers. This was, in fact, the best opportunity.
But Yang Fan didn’t know what kind of money they were talking about.
It probably wasn’t one hundred yuan, was it?
Yang Fan wanted to observe for a bit and see how others handled things, but the situation wasn’t going to wait for him.
The people before him were undoubtedly the ones he wanted to take back.
From what the green-robed old man had said earlier, it was easy enough to deduce that.
Yang Fan didn’t know what these masked people planned to do with the ones they took back, but it definitely wouldn’t be anything good.
So, before these people officially began the transaction, whether he bought or fought, he had to come up with a solution.
Yang Fan felt restless inside.
If it came to a fight, he wasn’t sure he could take them all down. There were simply too many of them to handle.
But if he paid for them...
He seriously didn’t have a clue what this money was all about.
Yang Fan hesitated for a long while, then finally pulled the embroidered shoe out of his pocket and asked in a low voice, "Sister Xie, do you think you can kill all these people? I mean, everyone standing—spare the kneeling ones and wipe out the rest!"
The embroidered shoe remained silent, as if stunned by Yang Fan’s words.
Yang Fan waited a long time, but the shoe offered no response.
Based on earlier communication, he knew the shoe was capable of interaction.
If there was no response now, barring any surprises, it probably meant the task was too difficult, and it didn’t want to bother replying.
Even after Yang Fan addressed it as Sister Xie, the shoe didn’t give him any acknowledgment, leaving him a bit frustrated.
Really, not even sparing him a little face.
Yang Fan reconsidered. "Sister Xie, can you take out ninety percent of them? I’ll handle the remaining ones."
The embroidered shoe: ...
Yang Fan waited for a while and, still getting no response, lowered his expectations further. "Eighty percent? Any more, and I’m completely out of options."
"...Fine."
This time, the embroidered shoe finally responded.
It was stingy with words, giving Yang Fan just one reply.
But that single word made Yang Fan ecstatic. Perfect, eighty percent for the embroidered shoe, leaving roughly ten or so people for him. Though still challenging, it seemed somewhat manageable.
If he was going to take these people with him, then everyone standing here had to be wiped out.
Otherwise, there was no way he could safely escort them back one by one.
At that moment, the embroidered shoe moved slightly, appearing ready to break free from Yang Fan’s hand.
"Wait a second! Sister Xie, don’t rush. Let’s see what these people intend to do first!" Yang Fan said.
It was his first time seeing something like this. Before making a move, he wanted to gather more intel.
The more he understood, the more prepared he would be.
The embroidered shoe quieted down.
"Wait until I say ’start killing,’ and then we’ll act," Yang Fan whispered.
In the crowd, a low buzz of voices filled the air. Yang Fan could tell they were talking about something, but he couldn’t understand what the buzzing meant.
The green-robed old man tilted his ear to listen for a moment, then suddenly shouted, "One hundred and fifty cents! Does anyone bid higher?"
This was when Yang Fan suddenly realized—they were actually bidding just now.
So it wasn’t a fixed price of one hundred cents; that was just the starting bid.
The green-robed old man raised his right hand and scanned the densely packed crowd around him, then laughed loudly. "Since there’s no higher bid, this high-quality Life Soul belongs to this esteemed guest."
Clink.
A small cloth pouch was tossed out by a man in a black suit, landing at the old man’s feet.
The old man cheerfully picked it up, gently weighed it in his hand, and nodded with satisfaction. The wrinkles on his face folded into a grin like a blooming chrysanthemum.
"So generous! That sound of coins is music to my ears. Bring this Life Soul over and pack it up for our honored guest."
Yang Fan frowned slightly. This place sure had a modern flair—even their service was top-notch.
"Sister Xie, make your move. We can’t delay any further!" Yang Fan said in a low voice to the embroidered shoe.
The embroidered shoe swayed slightly and leaped out of Yang Fan’s hand.
Yang Fan watched as the shoe moved straight toward the center of the arena, heading directly for the green-robed old man and coming to a stop beside him.
To Yang Fan’s surprise, the green-robed old man didn’t react as though faced with a great threat. Instead, his face still wore the hospitable smile typical of a businessman entertaining guests from all directions. He chuckled and said, "Well, this is an unexpected honor! To think that a deity like yourself would grace our humble Alley Market. Judging by this, the quality of our Life Souls this time must truly be exceptional."
"But... might I ask, do you have money on you, esteemed one?"
He actually mistook the embroidered shoe for a customer, too.
And judging by his tone, the embroidered shoe seemed to be a formidable entity in this line of business.
The embroidered shoe lifted its right toe and wiggled it slightly.
The green-robed old man’s face instantly looked troubled. "If you don’t have any money, this might be difficult to arrange!"
"Since we’re just a small Alley Market, we run on auctions only. No credit allowed. But, how about this—whichever Life Soul you fancy, I’ll give it to you as a gift. Just please, don’t disrupt my business."
"This old man is only doing a small business to stay afloat. Look at my assistants—even their tools have rusted over."
Yang Fan was stunned by the scene playing out before him.
Dammit, how did the embroidered shoe, in these people’s eyes, suddenly become the big boss?
Yang Fan was instantly filled with tremendous hope.
It seemed even eighty percent had been a conservative estimate.
Faced with the green-robed old man’s submissive tone, the embroidered shoe wiggled its foot again.
The old man’s expression darkened immediately. "So, does this mean you intend to ruin my business today?"
The embroidered shoe tapped the ground lightly with its toe.
If it had a tangible form, it would undoubtedly be an incomparably haughty woman.
The green-robed old man glared at the embroidered shoe on the ground with a grim expression. "I admit you are an extraordinarily powerful Spiritual Body, but don’t underestimate us so much. If it comes to a fight, there’s no guarantee who’ll live and who’ll die."
"You’ve cultivated to your current level with no small effort. I’m willing to voluntarily offer you some benefits. Take them, and we can all avoid unnecessary troubles. Who knows, we might even be mutually useful in the future. Why push us too hard?"
"As you can see, there are quite a few esteemed guests here today. Are you truly confident you can kill us all?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the buzzing voices around them suddenly grew louder.
Some of them even sounded slightly agitated.
The white mist began to churn, and many people quietly slipped away into the fog, abandoning the auction altogether.
Yang Fan’s eyes lit up immediately.
He hadn’t realized the embroidered shoe could exert such a terrifying level of deterrence in this line of work.
Hope surged in his heart, reaching new heights.
