Chapter 616: Chapter 616

After communicating with Xiang Xue Ting about the situation, Yang Fan put away his phone and returned to the private room.

Yet, up until that moment, the hotel staff had not noticed what exactly had happened in the private room.

It was a hotel with four security guards at the door and seven or eight waiters per floor. Such a ruckus inside, and yet they had shown no reaction at all. Yang Fan found it hard to believe that they hadn’t noticed and felt that, at the very least, they owed him an explanation.

Yang Fan hadn’t expected them to preemptively stop the boys, or to intervene after the incident had occurred, but at minimum, they should have helped report to the police.

Yang Fan’s hand was already on the doorknob of the private room when he thought about this issue, and he felt an inexplicable surge of anger.

He gestured to two waiters standing not far down the hallway.

Their position from where he was was only seven or eight paces away.

At such a close distance, the private room was nearly demolished, yet they reacted with complete indifference.

Yang Fan felt that if he didn’t initiate something now, the hotel might likely cause trouble for him later.

The bloodstains on the floor and the shattered chairs would definitely require compensation.

Two women waiters in uniform approached him.

"Did you just hear anything unusual?" Yang Fan asked.

The two waiters glanced at each other, shaking their heads repeatedly.

They seemed very anxious, with their glances inadvertently shifting away.

This reaction was almost a direct answer.

"You didn’t notice, huh? Fine, I won’t hold that against you. Go find your manager. I think you owe me a reasonable and appropriate explanation," said Yang Fan sternly.

"Sir, they said... it was your friend," one waiter rushed to say.

"Yes, I can understand your point," Yang Fan agreed, nodding, "It seems you all know what happened, right? That makes it easier then. Those people claimed they were my friends, and then you just let them in without managing anything, right? This is a major hotel, isn’t it? Quite a few stars, if I recall correctly?"

"If I’m not mistaken, in such situations, isn’t it supposed to be your duty to escort them and verify if they really are my friends? I remember correctly, don’t I?"

The two waiters shook their heads, then nodded.

"Sir, you’re not mistaken, it is usually handled that way. It was our oversight..."

"Let’s not talk about that now," Yang Fan raised his hand to stop the waiter from speaking further, "I’m asking about the incident that just occurred. Does your manager know about it? Tell the truth, or else, I’ll be creating problems for both of you."

The two waiters bowed their heads, nodding faintly.

Then one of them said, "We told the manager when the fight broke out. The manager decided to turn a blind eye and wait until you were done fighting before dealing with it."

"Okay, I understand. After the fight, just pay up, right?" Yang Fan scoffed, "Well then, please do me a favor and call your manager. If you don’t give me a reasonable explanation, I will accuse you of being accomplices to the perpetrator."

"It makes sense for such incidents to occur in a small diner, but for a big hotel like this? I’m utterly lacking a sense of security when dining here. Someone pretends to be my friend, and they can just storm in and attempt to kill me, unbelievable."

"Hurry up."

Startled by his comments, the two waiters quickly stepped away, took out a walkie-talkie, and contacted their supervisor.

Hearing some noise, Huo Xiaorou came out of the private room, "What’s happening?"

"Before the hotel troubles us, let’s first deal with them," Yang Fan said coolly, "I don’t want to end up targeted for no reason and then have to compensate the hotel a significant sum of money. Considering the current condition inside, it won’t come cheap, definitely not less than ten or twenty thousand."

Huo Xiaorou nodded, "I was just thinking of telling you this. We should indeed be challenging them. They let a few people in so easily without even asking us a single question; obviously, it’s their fault."

Yang Fan nodded, "Let’s wait a bit longer; I expect their manager will be here soon."

Suddenly, Huo Xiaorou looked up at Yang Fan and asked softly, "Are you really not owing Lu Qiuyang a million?"

"No," Yang Fan said affirmatively.

But Huo Xiaorou seemed still somewhat distrustful, "Admitting to this might be a bit embarrassing, but the situation has already come to this, there’s no use in hiding it. I still have some savings, though it’s a bit short of a million. I can lend you some to settle things with Lu Qiuyang first, then you can repay me slowly."

"I’ve heard of such people, even though society is much stable now, but those bad elements just hide deeper. They still would have countless ways to torment us, and if we don’t settle this, their interest will keep rolling up, and a million might become two million, or three million over time."

"Try to find some influential people to talk to Lu Qiuyang, make him reduce the interest rate to normal, and get this sorted out as soon as possible. Trust me, continuing this way will definitely spell disaster for you."

Yang Fan was moved.

Huo Xiaorou had been complaining about him this morning, her words edged with hostility, and yet now she was willing to lend him a significant amount of money. Although it was because he had helped resolve her problems, her willingness to help at this moment was not easy.

Yang Fan shook his head and smiled, "Really, I don’t owe anything. Although I’m not very wealthy, I live relatively comfortably. I don’t need to borrow money from others; it was just an excuse Lu Qiuyang used to deceive that little brat Hu Yu."

"As for why Lu Qiuyang targeted me, even to the extent of wanting to kill me, I’m still unclear about that. However, I have a few enemies who don’t get along with me; perhaps there’s some connection between them that I still need to investigate."

"As long as there’s really no monetary dispute, that’s fine. The police should be able to clear up the rest," Huo Xiaorou said.

"I have already called the police," Yang Fan stated. "Wait a bit, then you can go back first."

"Let’s just wait until this is dealt with; I’m free now anyway," Huo Xiaorou inquired with some confusion, "Considering your profession, most people would probably be more polite. Why do you have so many enemies?"

"As long as a person breathes, they will definitely have some adversaries, and I happen to deal with a lot of people, so naturally, there are always people out to get me; it’s not strange." Yang Fan spoke calmly, looking towards the man and woman who were rushing down the staircase.

Both were immaculately dressed in business suits and polished shoes.

The hotel manager seemed to be on a white-collar level, looking quite successful at first glance.
