Chapter 613
Chapter 613: Chapter 613
"Boss Yang, it couldn’t be related to the favor you did for me today, could it?" Huo Xiaorou suddenly asked.
"I’ve heard that your line of work has certain repercussions, mainly reflected in one’s luck. Is there such a thing?"
She was still pulling on the hair of a young man named Lai Junjie.
Yang Fan could clearly see a handful of hair caught between her fingers.
This woman was ruthless indeed.
"No such thing," Yang Fan shook his head and said.
He had been somewhat ignorant before, but coincidentally, he had just asked Mr. Fan about this a couple of days ago.
Since Mr. Fan had called it a bunch of nonsense, there definitely wouldn’t be any repercussions.
"That’s good, otherwise I’d have to consider how to compensate you. But are you sure about that?" Huo Xiaorou still seemed a bit uneasy, her tone laced with skepticism towards Yang Fan’s words.
"I am very sure," Yang Fan shook his head and said.
He trusted Mr. Fan’s professional judgment.
"Then we can only say our luck has truly been too terrible," Huo Xiaorou sighed.
Yang Fan lowered his head in contemplation for a moment and then looked at Hu Yu, whose neck was restrained by Wang Daqiang. "Hu Yu, do you have anything to add? I feel like you came directly for me."
"I’ll give you three more stabs. If you still won’t tell the truth after three more stabs, I will just have to take you out and find a hole to bury you, or maybe chop you up and throw you in the river to feed the fish. Since you already know me, you should be aware of my methods."
Hu Yu, tormented by Wang Daqiang, was almost unrecognizable now, struggling to even breathe.
However, judging by his complexion, it seemed he really wasn’t in mortal danger; it was mostly just the pain.
Upon hearing Yang Fan’s words, Hu Yu suddenly widened his eyes and cursed loudly, "Lu Qiuyang, I curse your ancestors for eighteen generations, damn you, you bastard, you won’t die well!"
Yang Fan’s eyebrows slightly furrowed.
It seemed he really had provoked some reaction.
"Stop calling for Lu Qiuyang, you’re running out of chances," Yang Fan said coldly.
Hu Yu, with a stiff neck and clenched teeth, struggled to turn his head to look at Yang Fan.
Due to the excessive strain, a huge white patch on his face had turned red.
"I’m asking you, can you spare our lives?" Hu Yu asked, "This matter really has nothing to do with the two of them; they were just fooled by me and knew nothing about the actual situation."
Yang Fan sneered, "You’re quite loyal, but do you really think you’re in any position to negotiate with me?"
"No!" Hu Yu murmured, "But I have to at least try a bit. It doesn’t matter if something happens to me; I’ve accepted it. Winner takes all, so maybe it’s just not my fate to make a fortune. However, I can’t drag them into this. And I’m telling the truth; this has nothing to do with them at all."
"Hu Yu, you son of a bitch, I’ll kill you, are you playing us?" the kid seated by Yang Fan suddenly shouted angrily, veins popping on his forehead, "Old Lai and I treated you like a brother, and this is how you repay us? You goddamn bastard, are you trading our lives for money?"
Yang Fan’s face was cold as he slapped him, "Shut up!"
The young man glared at Hu Yu with gritted teeth but actually did shut up.
Yang Fan’s intimidation seemed to have a greater impact than his anger.
Hu Yu looked painfully at the kid seated by Yang Fan and said, "Old Zhao, I let my brothers down, I didn’t expect things to turn out this way. It was that bastard Lu Qiuyang who deceived us."
"I was thinking, once I got the money, I would take the guys and flee far away. With three hundred thousand, we could live comfortably on one of those small islands in the south, and each of us could even marry two wives, but... Ah, fuck!"
Hu Yu couldn’t go on with the sentimental part because Wang Daqiang made his move.
He pulled out the knife stuck in Hu Yu’s left leg and plunged it back in.
While the wound wasn’t very deep, the repeated stabbing was enough to kill someone with pain.
That Hu Yu could still remain conscious up to now was testament to his toughness.
"When my boss is talking to you, please show some respect. Keep rambling like this, spouting any nonsense, and buddy, next time I will gouge out your eyeballs," Wang Daqiang threatened menacingly, looking like a butcher who had just slaughtered seven or eight people.
Even Yang Fan was stunned by his expression at that moment. Where was the simple man once manipulated by his wife and reduced to applause? If he had shown this fierce side earlier, his wife would’ve probably locked herself in during broad daylight, not even daring to think about cheating, let alone doing it.
"No, bro. No more, please. It was Lu Qiuyang who ordered me to do this," Hu Yu gasped intensely, exerting all his strength to utter those words. The pain in his leg hadn’t subsided, and he looked almost as if he were convulsing.
"Who is Lu Qiuyang?" Yang Fan asked.
Hu Yu looked surprised. "Bro, you don’t know? He owns a pawnshop down on Antique Street, he’s a big fish there. Mainly he does private loans. I borrowed five thousand yuan from him once, and in half a month, it became ten thousand. I couldn’t pay it back, so he chopped off one of my fingers and then made me do things for him."
"Are there still such things happening?" Yang Fan was somewhat surprised.
It wasn’t that he was out of touch; he really hadn’t heard of such things for a long time.
About a decade ago, this was quite common. Many hoodlums with some money liked this job because it was a quick way to make money. With an investment of a few ten thousand, they could multiply it three or four times in a month and quickly achieve financial freedom, becoming bosses superior to others.
"It seems you really don’t know, bro. These days, there aren’t many left doing it. It seems like Lu Qiuyang’s is the only place on the entire Xin’an Street. I heard he’s got connections, so even when the things he’s done get exposed, someone still cleans up his mess, allowing him to keep going like this," Hu Yu said breathlessly, speaking to Yang Fan.
"Even now, though he still engages in such activities, collecting debts isn’t as aggressive as before. The job I helped him with involved going to the debtors’ homes and workplaces, making a scene with gongs and drums, hanging signs, plastering flyers everywhere. Eventually, when all else failed, we grabbed the person and roughed them up for a few days."
"Lu Qiuyang told me you owed him a lot of money, a whole million. He said there’s no way he could get it back completely, but he couldn’t swallow his pride. Then he told me to take the opportunity to stab you."
"After the job was done, he would give me three hundred thousand and arrange for someone to smuggle us out, and then live in some of the coastal countries in the south. Since we live like dogs here anyway, I took a gamble, thinking maybe a bicycle could turn into a motorcycle."
