Chapter 602
Chapter 602: Chapter 602
Yang Fan recalled for a long time, but in the end, he couldn’t remember how he got back home last night, so he simply let it go. No matter how embarrassing it might have been, the incident had already happened, and there was no use trying to salvage it.
However, it shouldn’t have been as exaggerated as Fan Sisi described.
How could he possibly have clung to her, clamoring for a sip of the spring water from below?
That was absolutely impossible.
He could settle for the water on the surface, but he really didn’t have such a taste for spring water from beneath.
Without a doubt, that woman must have been messing with him.
Yang Fan stayed at Zhu Shanshan’s place until noon, and the entire morning was spent talking about Old Zhou’s new girlfriend, Duan Linlin.
Surprisingly, Zhu Shanshan actually knew her and had spoken a few words to her at a banquet.
This simple acquaintance gave them a lot more to talk about all of a sudden.
Zhu Shanshan appeared relatively indifferent, but Fan Sisi was outright looking for faults, thoroughly criticizing.
In short, they didn’t think Old Zhou and Duan Linlin would last very long.
Yang Fan didn’t join in their discussion; he really wasn’t in a position to comment on this matter.
After having lunch with Zhu Shanshan and Fan Sisi, Yang Fan finally headed to the town.
The issue with Bi Gang had basically come to an end, with all who should be caught having been captured.
Fan Sisi was just a woman Bi Gang wanted to lay his hands on, not very important, hence not worth thinking of revenge or anything of the sort, allowing Yang Fan to rest easy.
Even in the afternoon, the small town was bustling with traffic, with people coming and going.
Today was the day of the big market.
On this day, it was when Bai Cao Pavilion did its best business.
People living in the mountains would accumulate various mountain goods over time. Those with small quantities wouldn’t come down to the town to sell every few days; they would wait for the big market days.
They would sell their mountain goods and buy some necessities for life.
This was the common way of life for countless people.
When Yang Fan entered the shop, Little Mother, sister-in-law, and Wei Juan, all three of them were there.
There were also plenty of customers, filling the space with smoke.
Some smoked hand-rolled cigarettes, while others smoked local tobacco or paper cigarettes, a wide variety but mostly cheap.
Sister-in-law and Little Mother were carefully checking the mountain goods brought by the customers, weighing them, while Wei Juan was nearby, managing the finances efficiently.
"Fanzi, are you done with the work over there?" Ye Tong asked, looking up when she saw Yang Fan.
Yang Fan nodded, "Things are almost settled, sister-in-law, let me help."
"No need, you go rest at the back, we can handle this easily," Ye Tong waved off Yang Fan’s offer.
"Go on, go on," Zhou Wenhui also said, "you’ve just rushed back from a trip, take a break. We’ve got this under control by now."
Yang Fan smiled, the transition seemed to be going quite smoothly.
In the following time, he really could go and procure medicine from other places with peace of mind. He needed to make sure he had enough medicine for the coming months’ contracts filled, otherwise it would really trouble him. Without addressing this soon, Yang Fan would seriously lack a sense of security.
He had worked hard to earn some money and certainly didn’t want to lose most of it as a penalty for breach of contract.
High income also means high constraints.
In a nutshell, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.
Seeing that he really couldn’t be of help, Yang Fan went back to the backyard, lay down in a corner of the small courtyard tidied up by Little Mother, and began scrolling through his phone. Life was becoming more and more comfortable.
While he was watching videos, Old Zhou made a call.
"Fanzi, where are you now?"
"Back in town, at the shop," Yang Fan said.
Old Zhou said, "You returned that quickly? Well then, I’ll transfer you the money, and you take care of Mr. Fan’s side of things."
"What money?!" Yang Fan asked, confused.
Old Zhou explained, "The fee for resolving that issue with Mr. Fan, what else could it be. Lin’er and I just took a trip to the house, and like Mr. Fan said, we opened all the doors and windows."
"You wouldn’t believe it, we might be unclear about the resolution of other aspects, but it just feels completely different to me now. When you walk into that room, you can feel a kind of warmth and ease, not like before when even with the bright light, there was a coldness as if you were entering a cellar."
"As for Mr. Fan’s side, I won’t interfere. I’m leaving it all to you, and how you divide it, that’s your business."
"Old Zhou, do you have nothing better to do?" said Yang Fan, exasperated. "Don’t talk to me about money!"
"Although I love money, I won’t earn money this way. Drop that idea, or else don’t blame me if I get angry. Damn it, you really do have too much free time. I’m living off the contract you got for me, and you want to draw the line over this matter? That’s just pointless."
"The money isn’t from me, it’s from Lin’er. The house is hers now, not mine," Old Zhou clarified.
"You two have settled that matter, haven’t you?" Yang Fan asked.
"Yeah," Old Zhou replied.
"Since it’s settled, what difference does it make whether I take the money from you or her?" Yang Fan asked.
"If you’re really that bored, then help me find a couple more jobs so I can make a little extra on the side, and we’ll split it. You find the clients, and I’ll do the work."
"That’s actually not a bad side hustle," Old Zhou chuckled. "But let’s keep things separate, the money..."
Old Zhou hadn’t finished speaking when Yang Fan cut him off, "Quit it with that nonsense, go chill out elsewhere, I don’t want it!"
"Fine, I won’t hassle you any further. I’ll save the money for next time I treat you at that club," Old Zhou said, giving up on the idea.
Yang Fan hesitated before saying, "Actually, I don’t need to spend money to go to that place."
There was an instant silence on Old Zhou’s end.
"Fanzi, don’t tell me you’ve managed to get the club owner on your side?" he finally asked quietly after a while.
"It’s complicated because it involves a lot, and you better keep it down. But there is a connection. It’s not recent; I knew her from before. I just didn’t know she owned the club," Yang Fan said carefully.
He couldn’t just yet reveal his relationship with Zhang Yulan.
Old Zhou was silent again.
It seemed Yang Fan’s words had quite an impact on him.
"Fanzi, being your brother is truly exhausting. I advise you to just be a human being," Old Zhou said sultrily.
"In Xin’an, there are only these two high-end places, and damn it, now you don’t even need to pay to have fun there. What pisses me off the most is that your two ladies even allow you to play there. It’s utterly outrageous..."
"It’s exasperating, really, how can there be such preposterous things in the world."
"Ask me? How would I know, maybe I’m just luckier with the dog shit," Yang Fan laughed. "Stop fussing over the money, it’s trivial. If I were to charge you for such a small thing, would I even be human? If you’re really that idle, you might as well consider the proposal I just made."
