Chapter 533: Chapter 533

Yang Fan stayed in the shop with his sister-in-law until the evening.

And Meng Zhu also unexpectedly stayed until the evening, it turned out she had taken the day off, and having no other matters, she simply stayed there chatting with Ye Tong. The two of them had a pleasant conversation, but Yang Fan’s mood wasn’t as wonderful.

With both of them there, it naturally was double the pleasure to watch, but he couldn’t even lend a hand casually anymore.

If it were just his sister-in-law or Meng Zhu alone, it wasn’t like Yang Fan could do whatever he wanted, but at least he could touch what should be touched.

What should have been double the joy turned into mere spectating.

In the evening, taking advantage of the sunset covering the wild hills, Yang Fan rode his tricycle with Ye Tong back to her house.

Little Mother had already called twice, urging them to come home for dinner.

If it weren’t for those two calls, Yang Fan had planned to take Ye Tong and Meng Zhu to a decent restaurant in the town for a good meal and then not go back home. The opportunity would have been right in his hands; a bit of ingenuity might have led to a chance for "a dragon playing with two phoenixes."

Unfortunately, he hadn’t made it clear to his sister-in-law in advance, and the calls were answered by Ye Tong, so Yang Fan’s plan was just a brief thought that came to nothing, and he didn’t even get the chance to attempt it.

Although it was already evening, it was still light out when they got home.

Summer days are long and nights are short, and even though the sun was already setting on the mountain peaks, it took much longer to go down than in winter.

After dinner, with the silver coin worth sixty thousand tucked in his pocket, Yang Fan walked towards Wang Daqiang’s house.

The Wang Family’s funeral had been finished for some days now.

Although it didn’t show, the Wang residence gave Yang Fan a sudden feeling of decline.

Several pickup trucks with double row seating were parked at the entrance of Wang Daqiang’s house, with busy people continuously moving things in and out, everything from machinery for agriculture and household use, like grass cutters and shredders, to TVs and freezers, and so on.

Yang Fan waited for those people to come out before entering the courtyard.

Da Qiang, looking regretful, squatted on the steps smoking a cigarette, watching those people bustling in and out without any intention of helping.

Yang Fan approached and asked, "You really prepared to leave nothing behind?"

"Yeah," Da Qiang responded, then he raised his head to look at Yang Fan and smirked, "People are leaving, keeping these things is a pure waste. Suppose I don’t come back for a few years; these items probably wouldn’t even fetch a few bucks, all turning into junk, or getting stolen by some no-goods to swap for drinking money."

"Might as well sell them while they still hold some value. Just keep a few beds and the kitchen stuff at home. When I come back in the future, having a place to settle down will suffice."

Yang Fan nodded. "It seems like you’ve made a very firm decision, but there might be a twist now. Do you want to hear about it?"

"What twist?" Da Qiang asked curiously.

Yang Fan glanced at those people, "Let’s talk inside the house."

Da Qiang nodded and led Yang Fan inside, then started boiling water for tea.

"Don’t bother with that, I don’t need tea," Yang Fan said, waving his hand.

Wang Daqiang handed a cigarette to Yang Fan and lit it for him, smiling as he said, "From now on, it won’t be easy for you to drink my tea. Have a sip to moisten your throat a bit."

Seeing this, Yang Fan didn’t say anything.

After all, it was just a cup of tea. Drinking it was merely to slightly fill his stomach, no harm done.

Switching the cigarette from his right hand to his left, Yang Fan took out that special silver coin. "Do you know how much this thing is worth?"

Wang Daqiang glanced at it, waved his hand decisively, and said, "Even if this thing is worth a million, it’s yours, it has nothing to do with me, don’t give me a whole spiel about it."

Yang Fan chuckled, "Just hear me out first."

"I won’t listen, I won’t listen. Just put it away. Keep on like this, and I really won’t give you the tea. I mean it." Wang Daqiang stood up and said, "Fanzi, I’ve already made things very clear to you. When I dug these things up, I decided there was half of them for you. If I didn’t think so, I certainly wouldn’t have even hinted at it."

Yang Fan ignored what he said and went straight to the point: "This one item is worth sixty thousand."

"Sixty thousand... that’s indeed quite expensive." Wang Daqiang was momentarily stunned, "Even if it’s very precious, it has nothing to do with me."

"Among the silver coins you gave me, there are three of this kind," Yang Fan said.

He hadn’t actually gone through all the silver coins Wang Daqiang had given him because after flipping through about a third of them, he had already found two, and this didn’t even include the two that were with his sister-in-law.

This time, Wang Daqiang essentially gave Yang Fan a million.

"You, you really, it’s all given to you, can you just stop complaining?" Wang Daqiang exclaimed exasperatedly.

Yang Fan smiled, tossed the special silver coin back to Wang Daqiang, "Like this, first see if the share you kept for yourself has any like this. If not, I won’t say much, but if you don’t have even one, these three I’m holding are a bit too hot to handle—you should understand what I mean?"

Wang Daqiang paused, "Damn it, do I look like a villain to you? I’m not looking!"

"You talk so righteously now, you’ll surely regret it so much later, your guts will turn green, so you might as well take a look," Yang Fan said. Over the years, he had always dealt with all kinds of people and money, and he knew very well how fragile human hearts can be when faced with money.

Yang Fan was bound to be somewhat greedy, and he also felt he should take a part of it.

But he wanted to ease his own conscience, as well as Wang Daqiang’s.

"If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have known," Wang Daqiang said resignedly, "Why bother with all this?"

"When you sell them you’ll find out anyway. The key point is, holding this money really is a bit too hot for me. Although, my risking to help your mother was initially for these items, as promised by your mother, but we also have to consider the real situation," Yang Fan said, "Rather than having you doubt and suspect later, I’d rather bring it up myself, so we don’t turn against each other."

Wang Daqiang silently nodded at Yang Fan, "Alright, have some tea first. After these people leave, you help me take a look. Honestly, I don’t know who I should sell these things to. Your worries are unfounded; I’ll probably sell them for a pittance, and you seem to have earned me another sum."

"I should have asked you before, I forgot about that. You do business, so you definitely know a lot of people."

Yang Fan laughed, "I wouldn’t dare to make decisions about such items casually, but I can introduce you to some people. First, go around asking and enquire about the prices, compare them, and then make a decision."

Wang Daqiang gave Yang Fan a sideways glance and muttered grumpily, "I’ve never seen anyone as cautious as you!"
