Chapter 527
Chapter 527: Chapter 527
Yang Fan very considerately helped the narrow-eyed man get tied up, from his neck down to his legs, not missing a single spot.
"Big brother, I’ve been completely honest, isn’t this a bit too much?" the narrow-eyed man protested in dismay.
Yang Fan let out a deep sigh, "Brother, I can see you’re also a working man, and I’m just an ordinary passerby. As for this fight between immortals, I really can’t afford to get involved. I just wanted to help, but who knew there were such complex issues behind it all."
"I don’t dare to provoke you guys, but I also don’t dare make the decision to release you, so you’ll have to suffer a bit. Plus, don’t be too upset, because in a way, this is actually a good thing for you."
"Big brother, thank you so much!" the narrow-eyed man said through gritted teeth.
"No need to thank me, no need to thank me," Yang Fan said, waving his hand. "You actually haven’t figured out what’s going on. Let me put it this way, if you two go back empty-handed, aren’t you going to get a scolding? By the way, you are empty-handed, aren’t you?"
The narrow-eyed man remained silent, just glaring at Yang Fan with eyes that seemed to conceal an erupting volcano, his cheeks clenched in visible fury.
"Forget it, with that look of yours, I won’t bother explaining anymore. Anyway, what I’m doing is for your own good, for all of us. If the two of you don’t return, the incident will most likely only happen in the shadows and won’t be exposed in the open, get it?" Yang Fan said.
Sometimes, he couldn’t help but want to laugh at the act he was putting on.
The narrow-eyed man glared at Yang Fan with murderous eyes as if trying to kill Yang Fan with his gaze.
"Tch, still glaring? You little brat shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you, don’t recognize a good intention!" Yang Fan suddenly changed his tone, "I spoke to you nicely and you still get cocky, huh?"
As he said this, he suddenly grabbed the narrow-eyed man’s rib, which was protruding noticeably.
It looked like it was broken from a shoulder bump he had delivered earlier.
Yang Fan applied just a bit of pressure, and the narrow-eyed man began to scream bloody murder.
"Hiss... ah, stop, stop, ah... brother, I was wrong, I was wrong."
Yang Fan snorted coldly, "You little brat, I really did give you too much face!"
"Big brother, I was wrong, I was wrong, what you said is right!" the narrow-eyed man cried out.
The intense pain caused his complexion to turn red and then pale, as if he had mastered some advanced face-changing skill.
Yang Fan put a little more pressure on his hand before finally letting go.
"You damn ingrate!" Yang Fan snorted coldly, then turned and bound the other big-headed man, who was still unconscious, on the other side of the electric pole in the same way.
After he had done all this, Yang Fan hopped on his three-wheeled bike and headed straight away from Zhang Yulan’s house.
Finding a shady spot, Yang Fan stopped the bike under the trees, lit a cigarette, and called Zhang Yulan.
"Little nemesis, have you finally remembered that there’s someone like me?" Zhang Yulan answered the phone in an instant, her voice thick with grievances.
Because Yang Fan hadn’t come to look for her, she had been holding a lot of grievances during this time.
"Sister Yulan, aren’t you home?" Yang Fan asked.
"You’ve been to my place?" Zhang Yulan asked.
"Yeah, I had some spare time, so I came over to see you, but you weren’t home," Yang Fan said.
Zhang Yulan chuckled softly, "At least you have some conscience, that’s more like it. I know you’ve been busy recently, so I didn’t want to disturb you. Otherwise, I would have already thrown a fit with the full drama of crying, making a scene, and threatening to hang myself."
"I’m in the county town today, should be back in just over an hour. Why don’t you just hop over the wall and take a rest at home? Take a nap, have a nice bath, and we’ll eat when I get back."
"Your front door’s moved to the wall now?" Yang Fan said with a laugh, "You want me to climb over the wall, but when I got here just now, I ran into two people climbing out from inside. I asked, and they were your husband’s men. If there’s nothing urgent, maybe come back earlier? I don’t mind not resting, but you should deal with those two."
"That old bastard Chen Zhong!" Zhang Yulan cursed, "I can’t get away at the moment. Those two men... Oh, Fanzi, you’re not hurt, are you?"
"I’m fine, nothing happened," Yang Fan replied. "Your husband’s thugs have neither the looks nor the skills. They couldn’t handle me—I gave them a thrashing and tied them up to a utility pole."
"Then just let them stay there; you go in and rest. We’ll talk when I get back," Zhang Yulan said.
Yang Fan shook his head. "I won’t go in. Since you’ll be a while, I might as well go collect some goods."
"You should take a rest, have a bath, so you have the energy to deal with me tonight, be a good boy," Zhang Yulan said softly.
Her tone was like she was cajoling a child, gentle, soft, filled with indulgence.
Yang Fan smiled, "Sister Yulan, I think you’re underestimating me. Even if I don’t rest for a few days, it seems you couldn’t handle me and would end up just screaming ’daddy.’ And about the bath, wouldn’t it be more fun if we waited and took one together when you get back?"
"Keep dreaming," Zhang Yulan chuckled, "Alright then, I’ll give you a call when I’m back."
"Mhm."
The call ended just as Yang Fan finished his cigarette.
He stubbed out the butt on the ground and hopped onto his motor-tricycle.
Since he was already here and had some time to spare, he decided not to idle around and go collect some goods.
Ever since he opened his shop, he hadn’t been up the mountains in a long time.
All along the way, Yang Fan was greeted with familiar hellos. Some people, unaware that Yang Fan had opened a shop in town, expressed concern and asked if something had happened to him since he hadn’t been up to the mountains to collect goods.
Yang Fan patiently explained to each one of them, while also realizing a problem.
It appeared that many of his regular customers didn’t know he had set up his shop in town.
He seemed to need to take some time to go around the nearby villages and let them know about his shop. Whether they chose to visit him was their decision, but spreading the word would likely bring him more customers in the future.
Walking along, Yang Fan inadvertently ended up at Wang Zhaodi’s village.
Yang Fan had followed the road and only realized he had entered Wang Zhaodi’s village upon arrival.
"Since I’m here, I might as well check up on the girl, see if she’s really changed as she said she has. It’s the weekend, she might be at home," Yang Fan mused as he drove towards Wang Zhaodi’s house.
Inside the withered fence, Uncle Wang, his back noticeably hunched, was beneath the walnut tree peeling bark, with a big pile already assembled next to him, apparently preparing for some earthwork project.
"Uncle Wang!"
Yang Fan stopped his motor-tricycle outside the fence wall and called out to Uncle Wang.
"Oh, Fanzi, come on in!"
Upon seeing him, Uncle Wang looked up and immediately waved his calloused right hand, beckoning warmly.
