Chapter 506

Chapter 506: Chapter 506

In their student days, around the ages of eighteen or nineteen, many saw it as their Jianghu Era.

This free and splendid age saw boys and girls beginning to engage with the adult world, their thoughts blossoming recklessly like fireworks. Those who couldn’t control themselves easily succumbed to this period in their lives.

Just like Wang Zhaodi.

If it hadn’t been for Yang Fan’s intervention, her life would have been ruined in that abyss.

Looking at these scantily clad young men and women, immersed in the scent of mock orange, Yang Fan suddenly wanted to know how Wang Zhaodi was doing now, and whether she had reformed as she had claimed.

Xiang Xue Ting approached the oldest looking man, "What’s your name? ID!"

"Jiang Xiangqian."

The man drooped his brows and muttered reluctantly. Suddenly, he lunged at Xiang Xue Ting.

Yang Fan was just walking beside Xiang Xue Ting when Jiang Xiangqian’s sudden assault startled him, and he instinctively slapped him.

With a dull thud.

Jiang Xiangqian’s body flipped halfway through the air and slammed onto the ground.

Xiang Xue Ting reacted quickly too. She stepped on Jiang Xiangqian’s wrist and kicked away the dagger in his hand, swiftly handcuffing him.

"Assaulting a police officer looks like I accidentally caught a big fish!" Xiang Xue Ting kicked Jiang Xiangqian angrily and nodded at Yang Fan, "Thanks, it seems you’ve saved my life again."

"I wonder how you’re a police officer, so careless and negligent, you owe me a big meal!" Yang Fan shook his head.

He had come just in case Xiang Xue Ting couldn’t control the situation alone, ready to be an extra hand.

Unexpectedly, they encountered a dangerous man who dared to stab a police officer.

"Fine." Xiang Xue Ting smiled wryly.

"I didn’t expect to find a big fish among these people; indeed, I was negligent. Your slap was really powerful; you almost broke the kid’s neck with it."

Yang Fan said indifferently, "I was startled, I couldn’t control my strength for a moment. If this ends up costing medical expenses, it’s on you, not me."

Xiang Xue Ting couldn’t help but smile wryly, "Definitely not your responsibility, thanks."

Sirens sounded outside, and the red and blue lights shone in through the windows.

"It looks like your backup has arrived; I can go to sleep with a clear conscience now," Yang Fan said.

"How about waiting a bit longer? I’ll be done here soon," Xiang Xue Ting said softly.

She didn’t continue to question the young men and women but walked to the door with Yang Fan, just watching.

The recent incident made her more cautious.

Yang Fan chuckled lightly, "You’re not sleeping with me, so why wait?"

"Inappropriate." Xiang Xue Ting rolled her eyes in embarrassment and swiftly changed the subject, "These students are thoroughly led astray, probably all Jiang Xiangqian’s doing."

"Their self-control is lacking too," Yang Fan said. "Back when I was in school, I heard that vocational school students were quite unruly, but I had only heard about it, never truly understood how chaotic it could be until today. I’ve never seen some of the stuff they’re using."

"That’s nitrous oxide," Xiang Xue Ting explained. "An inhalant anesthetic that can induce hallucinations; many young men and women use it to seek thrills."

"At their age, their ability to self-regulate is quite low; vocational schools have less strict control, and with a large number of idle people in society eyeing them, it naturally tends to be more chaotic from abduction to exploitation."

"Last year, this school accounted for forty percent of the abortions in the entire county. The leaders had even met with the school authorities. Actually, I’ve always thought they were at fault, but not to such an outrageous degree. Eighty percent of the reason they ended up this way was the environment," she said.

Yang Fan nodded and glanced at the several police officers rushing through the corridor, stepped aside, and moved to the side of the hallway.

Xiang Xue Ting went to hand over work to those people.

Yang Fan looked around and, seeing that there seemed to be nothing more concerning him, he went straight up to the third floor and entered his room.

Opening the door and changing into slippers, Yang Fan sprawled out on the large bed in all directions.

Too many things had happened that night, since leaving the Ghost Market, he had been feeling rather dazed, urgently needing to catch up on some sleep to sort out his thoughts.

In his groggy state, he felt as if there was some insect crawling on his face.

He randomly swatted at it and Yang Fan turned over to continue sleeping.

Suddenly, a gentle laugh rang by his ear, and Yang Fan furrowed his brows and opened his eyes.

Xiang Xue Ting was lying next to him, tickling his face with her hair.

Yang Fan rubbed his face, "All done with work?"

"Mm."

"Hey, how did you get into my room? Even police officers can’t just do as they please," Yang Fan suddenly reacted.

Xiang Xue Ting huffed, "I told you to wait for me, and you didn’t. I had to find my own way in. Aren’t you uncomfortable sleeping like this? You should take off your clothes to sleep."

"What are you doing?" Yang Fan asked suspiciously as he looked at Xiang Xue Ting.

"I’m letting you sleep, what else? I just came to check on you, and now I’ll go to sleep too. It’s past three in the morning, I’m tired," Xiang Xue Ting averted her gaze for a moment and said loudly on purpose.

Yang Fan murmured, stretching his arms, "What’s there to look at in me?"

"Mm..."

Xiang Xue Ting hesitated and then suddenly said, "Do you know who that guy you almost broke his neck with one slap is?"

"Either a fugitive or a regular in the jail, only these types would dare pull a knife on a police officer over a disorderly assembly, he definitely has bigger fish to fry," Yang Fan said.

"You guessed quite right, he’s a fugitive," Xiang Xue Ting said with a smile.

Clearly unable to sleep now that Xiang Xue Ting had stirred him, Yang Fan just flipped over and sat down on the nearby chair. Just as he was about to light a cigarette, he spotted the beer and supper on the desk, "It’s this late and you still plan to have a drink with me? How come you’re so energetic?"

"I..." Xiang Xue Ting was slightly embarrassed, "If you’re tired, you should sleep. I’ve had quite a lot happen today, and I really can’t sleep. Sorry, I overlooked that you seemed quite tired."

Yang Fan waved his hand, "No worries, I just took a nap and am a lot more alert now."

"Come on, since you’ve prepared a drink for us, no need to hesitate, let’s see what supper you’ve brought."

Xiang Xue Ting came over and sat across from Yang Fan, opened a bottle of wine, and handed it to him.

"Actually, I still want to thank you. We’ll save the big meal for another day; for now, let me treat you to a drink," Xiang Xue Ting said with a smile.

Yang Fan felt somewhat helpless, so you don’t want me to sleep because of this?

This thanks or this torment!
