Chapter 473
Chapter 473: Chapter 473
Old Sir Shen might have been worried that Yang Fan would stumble into pitfalls again, so he explained these matters very carefully this time.
This could probably be considered the most systematic lesson Yang Fan had received since he was first exposed to these mysterious incidents.
There are many types of mysterious phenomena, and Yin Spirits actually count as one.
Before they evolve to the Spirit Level of the mysterious, they are all generally called mysterious phenomena.
"Although you, kid, had good intentions, you essentially obstructed the old lady’s reincarnation," Old Sir Shen said earnestly, "In the future, when you encounter such a situation, don’t interfere. Just let it go on its own."
"But if you meet one that actively speaks to you, don’t hesitate, deal with it mercilessly. Those that don’t react to you at all actually have a path beneath their feet to the place they should go. However, if one actively seeks to talk to you, it means it intends to harm you."
Yang Fan took a deep breath, "I really didn’t expect there to be so much to it."
Old Sir Shen snorted with laughter, "Kid, you think this is a lot? You’re just at the beginning. If we compare the world we live in to knowledge, you’ve just started kindergarten. There’s a lot more for you to learn."
Despite being scolded, Yang Fan still obediently nodded, "Old Shen, what should be done about Old Mrs. Wang now?"
"Affected by you, look at her state now; she clearly doesn’t want to leave anymore. I can only send her off forcibly, what else can I do?" Old Sir Shen sighed, "Being a good person is right, but don’t ever do this kind of ’good deed’ again in the future."
Yang Fan honestly responded, then whispered, "Actually, I think it’s not just my doing, but also that couple inside. Previously, the old lady had said she had some time left, that she would help me find my way before she left."
"But just now, inside, I heard her daughter-in-law and the lover plotting how to trick Wang Daqiang, and suddenly the old lady seemed off."
"Hmm? It seems this is a rational and lucid old lady. Yin Spirits like her, who know what they should do and where they should go, are not common. Your guess isn’t wrong; if this is the case, it indeed doesn’t seem to be your fault. But it is also due to your involvement; without you, she would have already gone in peace," Old Sir Shen said, shaking his head.
Yang Fan felt somewhat ashamed, "I really didn’t think of it beforehand. No wonder Old Mrs. Wang spoke to me a few times, asked for help, and mentioned she didn’t have a reward for me at the moment, but said I would receive indirect benefits from her. I was still puzzled."
"Hmm? She said that? Well, it seems you actually are quite lucky," Old Sir Shen suddenly had a look of disbelief mixed with amusement.
"Old Shen, what do you mean by that?" Yang Fan asked, puzzled.
Old Sir Shen chuckled, hands behind his back, saying, "Because if you really did help her with her request and fulfilled her wish, it is considered a virtuous deed. Many times, virtuous deeds can directly affect your luck. Accumulating a lot can greatly influence your destiny, even changing the predetermined. However, take this as a casual remark; don’t get lofty ideas and actually try it. With your current capabilities, attempting such a thing is tantamount to courting death."
"When you become more skilled, it won’t matter if you undertake such tasks, but right now, you have only opened the Heavenly Eye, and all you have in your hand is a piece of broken wood I made when I was bored. Can you even reach that level?"
"If not for those provocations, this time it might have indeed been a close call without risk, and you could have even gained some actual benefits."
Yang Fan nodded thoughtfully, "So that’s how it is. Old Shen, so should I fulfill the promise I made to Old Mrs. Wang?"
"Since you promised, go ahead and do it. I’ll take care of this elderly lady first," Old Sir Shen said with a nod.
Yang Fan looked in the direction of Wang Daqiang’s house and lowered his voice, "Old Shen, I need to stealthily take the poisoned meat and the bowl used by Old Mrs. Wang. You and Old Liang stay hidden for a bit; I’ll check out what’s happening."
"Go ahead, don’t mind us. We won’t interfere with your affairs," Old Shen waved his hand.
Yang Fan then surreptitiously sneaked back into Wang Daqiang’s home.
Moaning and groaning noises continued intermittently from the north room.
After such a while, these two were still at it?
Shen Zhongwei seemed rather frail, yet his abilities proved to be quite strong.
Yang Fan quietly slipped to the bottom of the window and peeked through the gap.
The pot of meat on the coffee table was still there, untouched.
On the big bed not far away, Kou Miao had two pillows propped under her waist, while Shen Zhongwei was aggressively poking her with two fingers, their affair seeming to focus solely on roughness.
Watching this, Yang Fan saw that Shen Zhongwei was really exerting all his might into the poking.
If it were any less resilient woman, she probably would have been in too much pain to endure it by now.
But Kou Miao was enjoying it.
Yang Fan looked on for a moment, finding it rather dull.
Perhaps it was because of the recent conversation with Old Sir Shen; watching such an affair didn’t excite him at all. All he wanted was for these two bastards to finish quickly, then promptly dispose of the meat stew, so he could hurry up and steal it.
After spying through the window for a while, Yang Fan quietly left the yard.
Shen Zhongwei would probably look for a place outside to dig a hole and bury the stew, since the yard was paved over and there seemed to be no place to dump it.
After confirming this, Yang Fan didn’t rush to find Mr. Shen or Liang Laoshi. Instead, he hid near a haystack not far from the main gate, lit a cigarette, and silently waited.
Meanwhile, breaking down all the things he had learned that night.
This entire evening had been quite overwhelming for him.
The mysterious affairs walking in the dark of night, the filthy human heart...
Oddly enough, Yang Fan started to find that mysteriousness somewhat more appealing than the human heart.
After finishing a cigarette, Yang Fan waited a bit longer and finally saw a figure with a flashlight coming out of the main gate.
It was Shen Zhongwei.
He seemed to be in a good mood, humming a tune and occasionally using swear words to praise Kou Miao’s figure.
After looking around outside the main gate, he headed straight towards where Yang Fan was hiding.
It seemed he also thought that place was good for hiding things.
Yang Fan quietly moved his feet, shifting to the side.
Shen Zhongwei came over, and at the back of the haystack, he dug a hole in a jiffy.
He did it slipshod, only digging down about forty or fifty centimeters before tossing the entire pot in. Then, he covered it with soil, tamped it down with his foot, and raked some grass over it to conceal it, before jauntily heading back with a song.
Yang Fan watched him enter the door and slam it shut with a loud clang, then returned to the spot where Shen Zhongwei had buried the pot. He dug out the pot with his bare hands, refilled the pit with soil, disguised it once more using the same method as Shen Zhongwei, and then he left.
Worried that a couple of pieces of chicken wouldn’t prove anything, he decided to take the whole pot.
