Happy Little Farmer -
Chapter 298
Chapter 298: Chapter 298
Zhou Wenhui responded to Yang Fan’s deliberately teasing question with a simple, coy moan, silencing him completely.
Yang Fan was so taken aback that he didn’t know what to say.
"Between women, it’s normal to hear moaning when they’re fooling around," Zhou Wenhui said, giving Yang Fan a cheeky wink before she headed to the bathroom without bothering to explain further.
A slight twitch appeared at the corner of Yang Fan’s mouth, thinking it was just like Little Mother to be so fierce.
If it had been his sister-in-law, she surely would have turned red with embarrassment.
Yang Fan flipped off the lounge chair, tidied up the thin blanket, and after Little Mother and Yang Yuan came out, he also freshened up.
When he emerged, Fourth Aunt was up too and had started tidying up the courtyard.
As their eyes met, Fourth Aunt greeted him calmly, her face unwavering and her manner polite.
She had transformed back into that poised and noble woman.
It was as if the incident from the previous night had been nothing but a dream, as if in reality, it had never happened.
She didn’t overexpress, so Yang Fan treated her as usual.
After a brief chat, he went ahead to open the big doors of the shop and set out the small blackboard.
It had today’s prices for some herbs written on it.
He checked his phone and updated the prices on the small blackboard with those Old Zhou had sent the night before.
Then, Yang Fan quickly cleaned up the shop, brewed himself a cup of tea, and went across the street to the breakfast shop to buy several portions, which he carried back.
This was the convenience of living in town, where many things did not require the effort, just money.
After breakfast, Little Mother and the others returned to the village; there were still many things waiting for them at home.
Yang Yuan didn’t really want to go back, but Fourth Aunt hauled her away.
She grumbled about Yang Yuan being lazy all the time, complaining about her disappearing after only picking half the required tea leaves and such.
Fourth Aunt thought Yang Yuan wanted to stay in town to be lazy, but Yang Fan felt the girl might have other ideas.
The lack of resistance from Yang Yuan that morning gave Yang Fan a vague sense of her feelings.
However, his own feelings towards her were almost the same as when dealing with Fourth Aunt.
Torn and yet desiring...
"Things are getting more complicated," muttered Yang Fan, taking a sip of the tea he had brewed in the morning.
As the sunrise climbed higher, life slowly returned to the small town.
People began passing by Yang Fan’s shop, some walking, some driving.
With the tea cup in hand, Yang Fan grabbed a small stool and sat down at the doorway.
After several days of tending the shop and losing interest in dramas, he discovered a comparatively fresh and intriguing pastime, watching beauties.
In the heat of summer, young girls dressed in cool clothes on the streets were indeed a sight to enjoy.
A figure in a school uniform appeared at the doorway of Yang Fan’s shop, struggling to carry a large woven bag.
Yang Fan glanced at her and walked over, putting down his tea cup, "Why are you delivering today?"
The newcomer was Wang Zhaodi.
She was the youngest girl Yang Fan had met thus far, but possibly with the most complex experiences.
At such a young age, she had already gone through more than many girls would in a lifetime.
"I’m going back to school today, and my dad asked me to sell these herbs along the way," said Zhaodi, her voice steady, but her gaze not quite meeting Yang Fan’s.
Yang Fan lifted the woven bag, helping Zhaodi bring it into the shop.
"Finally decided to focus on your studies?" he asked casually.
Wang Zhaodai stood at the doorway and gave a timid nod.
Yang Fan weighed the herbs, calculated the price with a calculator, and then took out five hundred yuan and handed it over.
"This... seems too much, doesn’t it? When I left, my dad roughly estimated it, and it was about one hundred and seventy or eighty," Wang Zhaodi glanced at the money in Yang Fan’s hand and shook her head.
"Keep it, it’s a bit of spending money for you," Yang Fan said.
Although their previous interactions had not been good, their relationship had later improved. Besides, Yang Fan had gotten such a great deal from her, and he felt he should give some consideration and benefit to this girl who had not earned the money herself.
He dared not give too much at once, though.
If she didn’t take this seriously, who knows what kind of trouble she might cause again.
Upon hearing Yang Fan say this, Wang Zhaodi finally accepted the money.
A hint of shyness in her eyes, she quickly raised her head to look at Yang Fan, "Then you... want to do it now? I need to get back to school by nine, so I may be a bit rushed for time."
Yang Fan glanced at the time; it was already half-past seven.
It did indeed seem a bit rushed.
"Anytime is fine," Yang Fan said casually, as he wasn’t feeling particularly urges that day.
Last night Fourth Aunt had fed him quite well.
Wang Zhaodi was taken aback and probably did not expect that after she had managed to say such a thing, she would receive such a response.
"Then, go ahead, I took a bath last night," she said softly.
Yang Fan laughed, "Did you really take those words seriously?"
"Of course, I have to keep my promise. You’ve helped me so much, how could I go back on my word?" Wang Zhaodi said with her head lowered, appearing reserved and shy, like a student who had made a mistake receiving a scolding from their teacher.
"If it weren’t for your help, I’d surely be working at Han Palace right now, meeting customers. I wouldn’t have the chance to go back to school again. Those words weren’t meant to be taken lightly."
"But I hope you’ll cherish this opportunity and not mess up your future," Yang Fan said seriously.
Just having finished high school, this had always been a sore spot in his heart.
But at that time, he had no other choice.
His family had suddenly undergone a huge change, and he didn’t have the resources to continue his education.
Not to mention anything else, money was a huge problem in itself.
But it was different for Wang Zhaodi; she had ruined things for herself.
"I will work hard!" Wang Zhaodi nodded lightly.
Yang Fan did not continue to dwell on the topic and said with a nod, "Since you want to keep your word, let’s go to the back."
Wang Zhaodi followed Yang Fan out to the courtyard.
Yang Fan locked the back door of the shop, so that even if someone entered the store, they could be dealt with in time, and their private moment would not be accidentally interrupted.
"In the courtyard?" Wang Zhaodi looked around and asked with some trepidation.
"Let’s go to the room," Yang Fan said.
It would actually be okay in the courtyard, but Yang Fan was worried about being overheard by someone suddenly coming into the shop.
Once they were in the room, Wang Zhaodi began to undress herself very consciously, but Yang Fan stopped her, "No need to take it off; just pull your pants down halfway. It wouldn’t be convenient if someone came later."
"Oh... okay."
Wang Zhaodi pulled down her baggy school pants, then shyly looked up at Yang Fan, waiting for his instruction.
She was quick to undress.
Yang Fan pulled her into his arms, lifting the striped short-sleeved shirt she was wearing.
Their school uniforms now are much nicer-looking than the ones Yang Fan had during his time.
