Chapter 280
Chapter 280: Chapter 280
After Ex-husband writhed in pain and paid one thousand yuan, he was helped away by a few young ruffians, fleeing from Yang Fan’s Bai Cao Pavilion as if escaping for his life. Despite his injuries, he ran noticeably faster than a rabbit.
Although it was indeed a bit of trouble, and it really affected the mood, earning one thousand yuan made Yang Fan very happy; today’s business goal had been met.
Bai Mengzhu said to Yang Fan with some embarrassment, "Mr. Yang, I’m sorry for causing such a disturbance."
"It wasn’t really a disturbance, just a small inconvenience," Yang Fan said with a wave of his hand. "Now I’m really curious about something: why did he insist on reconciling with you? It’s one thing to reconcile, but why does it seem like he’s made an enemy out of it?"
"He’s always been like that, if he can’t have it, he wants to destroy it," Bai Mengzhu said, shaking her head.
"Mr. Yang, to show my apology, I’ll waive one month’s rent for you, how does that sound?"
Yang Fan was startled for a moment. Was there really such good fortune?
"I accept your apology," he replied without hesitation.
Who would ever have issues with money?
With such good fortune at hand, naturally, one should hold on to it tightly.
"I’m very sorry, this was my issue, yet it involved you," Bai Mengzhu said with a polite smile, once again.
With these two benefits, Yang Fan couldn’t help but be in high spirits.
He waved his hand and said magnanimously, "You don’t need to be like this, I can understand. If you could, you surely wouldn’t want to involve me. However, that being said, you really should resolve this soon. If you’re harassed by him like this all the time, won’t that be troublesome?"
Bai Mengzhu nodded gently, "I will resolve it as quickly as possible and ensure it doesn’t affect Mr. Yang again."
"I don’t mind, if all goes well, he probably won’t come barging in here again. But if he sues me for medical expenses, I’m afraid Miss Bai, you’ll have to step in," Yang Fan said with a smile.
"That seems to be something you said, that even beating him half to death would be fine, you’d take care of it all."
Bai Mengzhu couldn’t help but smile wryly; he sure remembered quite clearly.
"I won’t trouble Mr. Yang with this matter; I’ll handle it myself when the time comes."
"That’s good, that’s good. I may have gone a bit too far just now. If I really have to pay compensation, I reckon it’ll be several thousand or even ten thousand yuan, and as a poor dog, I really can’t afford it," Yang Fan said, shaking his head with feigned distress.
Bai Mengzhu suddenly didn’t feel much like talking anymore.
What’s the point of him crying poor to her?
Ever since the opening, business here has been good; would he really care about a measly ten thousand or so yuan?
But since she did make that promise, if she wants to keep her word, no matter how heavy Yang Fan’s hand was, she would really have to cough up the money. Why did she carelessly make such a bold statement?
If she had known Yang Fan was so ruthless, she would have never uttered a word about it.
"Brother Fanzi, I need to go soon to take over from my aunt and care for my grandpa," Yu Hong Dou, who had been quiet, suddenly whispered in Yang Fan’s ear. "In a few days, once my grandpa’s health improves a bit, my schedule should be freer, and then I’ll come to see you."
"Let’s have lunch first; that jerk interrupted us, and we still haven’t eaten," Yang Fan said.
"No, Brother Fanzi, there’s not much time. I’ll eat when I get home," Yu Hong Dou said with a giggling smile, leaning her head close to Yang Fan’s ear and whispering softly, "Brother Fanzi, you were so impressive just now!"
The warm breath tinged with a faint fragrance on his neck made all the hairs on Yang Fan’s body stand on end.
"Alright then, be careful on your way," Yang Fan said, handing her the items he had prepared earlier.
"Mmm-hmm."
Yu Hong Dou flashed Yang Fan a sweet smile as she picked up the items and left Bai Cao Pavilion.
"Mr. Yang’s girlfriend is very pretty," Bai Mengzhu commented before suddenly asking, "Hasn’t Mr. Yang eaten yet?"
"I was about to, but then I got blocked at the door by your ex-husband!" said Yang Fan.
Bai Mengzhu said apologetically, "Then, may I invite Mr. Yang for a meal?"
"No need, I’ll just fix something simple myself later," Yang Fan declined Bai Mengzhu’s kind offer. "Taking a small advantage is enough; there’s no reason to seize an excuse and take advantage of it to the extreme."
Yang Fan’s forthright and direct response somewhat surprised Bai Mengzhu.
"How about I cook a meal for Mr. Yang then? That way, it won’t count as taking advantage," she said with a smile.
In Bai Mengzhu’s view, this wouldn’t really count as taking advantage.
Yang Fan, who had been fine, suddenly encountered such an annoying incident because of her, and she felt obliged to make a gesture, or else it would seem like she hadn’t handled the situation well.
Yang Fan chuckled, "Then suit yourself, especially since my cooking skills aren’t that great."
"Does Mr. Yang dislike the food from restaurants?" Bai Mengzhu’s smile brightened naturally as Yang Fan agreed.
Once Yang Fan accepted her gesture, she felt the situation was more appropriate.
Otherwise, she would feel guilty, constantly feeling like she owed something to Yang Fan.
Yang Fan took a sip of the tea that had long since gone cold and shook his head, "Restaurant food is fine once or twice occasionally, but if you eat there for every meal, not many days will pass before you’re sick of it. I prefer home-cooked meals."
Under Little Mother’s attentive nurturing, he had become quite picky about his food.
In his eyes, none of the eateries in town could compare with Little Mother’s cooking.
But now that he had a shop in town and Little Mother didn’t come by often, Yang Fan had to adapt his taste buds to this change and endure the subpar food he cooked himself.
"Indeed, I usually cook for myself too. I don’t know why, but eating at the restaurant seems fine, yet it feels completely different if you do it meal after meal. So, let me cook for Mr. Yang, would rice be okay?" Bai Mengzhu politely asked.
"Anything is fine, I’m not picky about food," said Yang Fan.
Bai Mengzhu went into the small courtyard behind Bai Cao Pavilion, washed her hands, and began preparing the side dishes.
Yang Fan lay down under the sun umbrella Little Mother had bought, and casually brewed himself a cup of tea.
Life suddenly seemed delightful.
Bai Mengzhu had a great figure, curvy with a sense of fullness but not appearing overweight, instead giving off an impression of a very supple body. Especially her rounded buttocks, plump like a juicy pear.
Yang Fan had originally thought she was an unmarried girl, yet it turned out she even had an ex-husband.
"Miss Bai, are you married now?" Yang Fan inquired.
"I’m not planning to get married anymore. Being single is pretty good, why bother with all that conflict and trouble again?" said Bai Mengzhu while chopping vegetables, casually continuing, "Before marriage, I spent the money I earned how I liked and went out with friends on weekends. Life was quite happy."
"But after getting married, all that happiness vanished in an instant. To me, marriage feels like a graveyard."
