Chapter 254 Thunderstruck Wood

Chapter 254: Chapter 254 Thunderstruck Wood

Sometimes, it seemed like whatever he feared would come to pass.

Yang Fan, worried that Old Zhou or someone else might enter the restaurant, had mustered all his strength in dealing with Zhu Shanshan, almost like a wild storm.

Unfortunately, someone did come.

Thankfully, the person who came in wasn’t Old Zhou, but a woman dressed in a cheongsam.

Yang Fan found her somewhat familiar but couldn’t remember where he had seen her before.

He sat upright behind the bar, quietly pulled down Zhu Shanshan’s skirt to cover the exposed, intimate view of the two.

If the visitor didn’t come close to Yang Fan, she wouldn’t notice a thing.

"Aren’t Old Zhou and Shanshan here?" the woman asked, wearing a light green fitted cheongsam, her pretty oval face lightly made up, her hair simply pinned up at the back, looking like a classical beauty who had stepped out of a painting.

"They’re not here. You might want to come back later!" Yang Fan said.

He wanted the woman to leave as soon as possible, so he wasn’t very polite.

"Strange, I clearly saw Shanshan in the shop earlier," the woman muttered, then, staring at Yang Fan, she suddenly exclaimed with delight, "Aren’t you the handsome young man Shanshan brought to my restaurant for a meal?"

With that, Yang Fan suddenly remembered. This woman was the owner of the restaurant across the street.

Her name was Fan Sisi, or something like that.

"If she didn’t bring anyone else, then it must have been me," Yang Fan said.

Fan Sisi looked at Yang Fan attentively with a smile on her lips, nodded, and said, "I usually have a strong memory for handsome faces; it must be you. Did Shanshan mention when she will be back?"

Yang Fan placed his hand on Zhu Shanshan’s buttocks— the woman had even started moving on her own.

He feigned calm and shook his head, "She didn’t mention that, but she should be back soon."

"I see, then I’ll wait a little while. You don’t mind, do you? I have some business with Shanshan," Fan Sisi said, and without waiting for Yang Fan’s refusal, she already sat down.

Yang Fan inwardly cursed.

Why had he said she would be back soon? Wasn’t that just inviting trouble for himself?

Now what to do? Yang Fan didn’t know.

But Zhu Shanshan was rather enjoying herself, each movement more forceful than the last, seemingly oblivious to Fan Sisi’s presence.

"I’m just helping out at the shop temporarily; there’s nothing to mind," Yang Fan said forcibly, maintaining a strained smile.

What a disaster!

After this, he really couldn’t continue. It was too much of a strain on his heart.

Fan Sisi crossed her long legs, sitting in a very proper posture, and took out her phone from the handbag she carried.

After looking at it briefly, she turned to Yang Fan and asked, "What do you do for a living, young man?"

"You might as well call me Yang Fan. ’Young man’ feels a bit awkward," Yang Fan said. "I deal in goods from the mountainside. In the past, people called it petty trading, and now... it seems the term still applies, or maybe junk dealer."

"Yang Fan, extraordinary indeed. It’s a simple yet grand name, easy to remember," Fan Sisi said with a faint smile, "Do you often go to the countryside? Could I trouble you with something?"

"Hiss... Go ahead," Yang Fan’s expression tensed.

"Is something troubling you?" Fan Sisi asked, puzzled.

"It’s nothing, just caught my breath for a moment. What was the favor you were asking about?" Yang Fan asked.

There certainly was no such thing as being cut off mid-breath.

He was simply ambushed by Zhu Shanshan, who suddenly changed directions and resorted to using her mouth on him.

And she went all in with one gulp, which quite overwhelmed Yang Fan.

"My family has an old man who’s quite skilled with his hands and has been wanting to find some Thunderstruck Wood," Fan Sisi said. "You often go into the mountains and villages, so you must know quite a bit. If you come across any, could you bring some for me, a whole tree would be best, as the old man often needs some."

"The price is negotiable, and if you’re worried I might deceive you, I can pay some deposit upfront."

"This thing can also be sold for money?" Yang Fan asked in surprise.

He indeed knew where to find it.

"This kind of thing, in the eyes of those who know its worth, is a valuable treasure, but to those who don’t, it might just seem like a piece of firewood, with no benefits other than for burning," Fan Sisi said with a light smile.

"You’ve found the right guy if you’re looking for this stuff. I just happen to know of one. But that tree is a bit pitiful, I’m not sure if it’s the kind you’re looking for," Yang Fan said.

"What do you mean by a bit pitiful?" Fan Sisi asked, somewhat puzzled.

It was hard for her to imagine what that could look like, a tree described as pitiful.

"It’s like... hiss..." Yang Fan quickly looked down and reached to hold Zhu Shanshan’s head.

This woman was a bit fierce, deep throating every time, making him somewhat unable to cope.

"It’s kind of like this," Yang Fan cleared his throat and continued gravely, "that tree is on the edge of our family’s ancestral graveyard, a bit distant, but not too far. As far as I know, that tree has been struck by lightning dozens of times, split into pieces. Miraculously, it’s still alive."

Because of that tree, the people in the village who didn’t get along with Yang Fan’s family often said behind his back that the Yang Family ancestors must have accrued huge merits, as even the heavens couldn’t stand to watch.

Yang Fan was also a stubborn type, the more they said this, the less he was inclined to cut the tree.

Not only did he not cut it, but sometimes when he went up to the tea garden to fertilize or spray pesticides, he would also incidentally give some fertilizer and kill some pests.

Fan Sisi looked a bit dazed. "You mean, a tree that has been struck by lightning dozens of times?"

"Yes, that’s just what I know. Probably only it and the heavens know how many times it’s been struck. Anyway, whenever there’s thunder and rain, it certainly can’t escape getting hit, sometimes even on a clear day, which I’ve seen happen twice," Yang Fan said.

At that moment, he really struggled to maintain a serious expression.

Zhu Shanshan’s mouth had made him too comfortable.

The thing that had just been pulled out of there, she savored it deliciously, swallowing deeply each time, it was too stimulating.

"So, do you want to buy this tree? I’ll offer one hundred thousand!" Fan Sisi suddenly asked excitedly.

Yang Fan was stunned by the amount.

Was this the heavens forcefully sending him money?

How could that thing be worth one hundred thousand? It seemed a bit too ludicrous.

"Uh..." Yang Fan mused with a blank expression.

"One hundred and twenty thousand, would you sell it?" Fan Sisi immediately raised the price, unexpectedly eager.

Yang Fan was conflicted for a moment.

One hundred and twenty thousand, that really was a lot...

But he did not want to cut the tree down.

It wasn’t just because it was close to the ancestral graveyard; every time he saw that tree, Yang Fan felt that since it had been targeted by the heavens into such a ghastly state yet still clung to life, he seemed to have no reason to give up striving to make something of himself despite his family’s misfortunes.
