Chapter 225: Chapter 225: The Veteran’s Nose

Yang Fan was actually well aware of Zhang Yulan’s skepticism.

The woman named Diwu Ming wasn’t crazy at all!

She simply looked down on Yang Fan.

In Diwu Ming’s mind, perhaps Yang Fan was just a pretty boy Zhang Yulan found appealing to toy with temporarily.

Therefore, threatening would surely work better than trying to win him over, as she aimed to exploit Yang Fan’s guilty conscience.

Once everything was settled, she would openly offer Yang Fan some benefits.

Not only would this provide Yang Fan with tangible advantages, but it would also save Zhang Yulan’s face, effectively perfecting the conclusion.

Unfortunately, she miscalculated.

Yang Fan wasn’t just Zhang Yulan’s boy toy for fun, nor was he someone whose guilty conscience could be easily manipulated.

"Fanzi, have you calmed down?" Zhang Yulan flopped onto the soft, large bed and asked with a grin.

"What’s there to be mad about?" Yang Fan shook his head and chuckled wryly, "I’ve realized that within your social status, people start to see each other differently. From her perspective, making such a move on me isn’t wrong."

"If we were in a different relationship, I wouldn’t even have the right to be angry."

If he truly were just the pretty boy Zhang Yulan was toying with, he wouldn’t have any say at all. If Diwu Ming handed him tens of thousands as a sweetener, he’d probably be overjoyed—why would he object? Any objections would definitely end with him being kicked out!

Zhang Yulan paused and then spoke solemnly: "When you’re poor, no one asks about you in the bustling city, but if you’re rich, distant relatives find you even in the mountains. So, don’t refuse my investment. Taking my money doesn’t mean you lack integrity; why be so stubborn?"

Yang Fan nodded, "...All right."

As he understood Diwu Ming’s attitude towards him, a thorn likewise lodged itself in his heart.

Money really is a wonderful thing!

Zhang Yulan smiled contentedly, having thought it would take more effort, but Yang Fan agreed so readily this time.

But being a cunning woman, she noticed that although Yang Fan had agreed, he didn’t look very happy, so she immediately switched topics. She assessed the bed’s width using her curvaceous figure and said with a smile, "I think neither of you should go back to your own rooms tonight. Just sleep here, this place is spacious enough to add another person easily."

Yang Fan tensed up suddenly and said with an embarrassed laugh, "I can sleep, but I really can’t manage the rest today."

Today had indeed been explosively busy for Yang Fan.

He barely had time to rest.

Xiao Liu burst out laughing, "Brother Fanzi does seem pretty busy today..."

Zhang Yulan counted on her fingers and suddenly exclaimed, "Goodness, I just realized, you’re as strong as an ox! Most men couldn’t handle it so many times, could they?"

Yang Fan glanced at Zhang Yulan’s fingers; she hadn’t counted them all, there were more she didn’t know about.

"I don’t know what other men are like!"

Zhang Yulan laughed heartily, "Hurry up and get ready for bed."

The night was uneventful.

Feeling genuinely exhausted, Yang Fan was sandwiched by others, but didn’t pursue anything further.

If he had truly insisted, he could have gone through with it, but Yang Fan wanted to protect his body and not overexert himself.

Fearing overexploitation, he worried that after a while, he would only be left crying over a drained shell of a man.

The next day.

The three of them had breakfast at the hotel and then went their separate ways to tackle the day’s tasks.

Yang Fan hailed a cab and headed straight to Old Zhou’s store.

Although it was just past eight in the morning, the front of the store was already crowded with people.

Even though the prices of Codonopsis had fallen significantly, the news had spread far and wide.

Herbal farmers and middlemen had just begun to unload their stock on a large scale these past few days.

Yang Fan had to fight his way through the crowd to enter the shop.

Although the store was crowded, it was very quiet inside, so quiet that only the voices of Old Zhou and Zhu Shanshan arguing could be heard.

"You stubborn old fool, just buy it. You’ll not even be able to find your underwear after this loss, and we might as well get a divorce!"

Zhu Shanshan sat on a rattan chair near the back, cursing while she threw orange peels at Old Zhou.

While dealing with customers entering the store, Old Zhou said, "We are here to do business, and today’s prices are still acceptable. I think we can buy, buying less can still stabilize the situation."

"Acceptable my foot, if you had dispatched last night’s shipment a bit later, $180,000 would have been gone. What are you so proud of? With the prices these past few days, only the bold like you would dare."

"You damned old fool, you just don’t listen to anyone, do you?"

"Listen, listen, listen, how could I not listen?" Old Zhou, upon seeing Yang Fan squeezing his way inside, quickly gave him frantic gestures.

Yang Fan smiled helplessly; his eager demeanor was not necessarily effective in calming Zhu Shanshan’s fury.

"Fanzi, don’t bother him. If he wants to buy, let him buy. Don’t get involved in this mess anymore. If we really get cleaned out, I’ll kick him out immediately," Zhu Shanshan shouted angrily at Yang Fan.

"Sister-in-law, there are so many people here. Let’s talk this over calmly," Yang Fan urged.

Zhu Shanshan snorted coldly, "When I spoke nicely, did he listen? The price has already dropped five yuan since yesterday, and he’s still buying. Who knows, by the time today’s stock is tallied, it might drop another five yuan."

Upon hearing this, Yang Fan was secretly shocked, damn, based on today’s prices, he would have incurred losses already.

Zhu Shanshan continued angrily, "A five yuan difference, if it’s hundreds of kilograms of goods, losing some isn’t an issue. But here we’re talking about thousands or tens of thousands. How much money would that loss amount to? Even a thick financial cushion can’t withstand such losses, right?"

"Sister-in-law, perhaps Old Zhou has his own reasoning. In this market, there’s probably no one with more experience than him," Yang Fan reasoned.

This couple’s fights were not new, and honestly, he felt there was no point in trying to intervene.

Usually, their arguments consisted of Zhu Shanshan furiously scolding while Old Zhou mumbled in response.

But no matter how harshly Zhu Shanshan scolded, Old Zhou would continue as usual, embodying the very definition of stubbornness.

"He doesn’t have any reasoning; he’s just stubborn and won’t listen to others. This isn’t a normal situation. Buying high now and selling low later tonight isn’t how you do business," Zhu Shanshan retorted.

Yang Fan felt overwhelmed. How was he supposed to intervene?

Forget it, just let them continue. I’m backing out of this.

Muttering to himself, Yang Fan went and sat down at the side.

Frankly speaking, Yang Fan was more inclined to trust Old Zhou’s judgment.

A guy who could make a million a day, his sense of the market was unmatched by few in this business!

Just as he was thinking this, a message from Old Zhou suddenly came in, "Fanzi, trust me, hire a truck immediately and go to the countryside to purchase at a maximum of ninety. Whatever quantity you have, I want it all, and I’ll give you ninety-five for it. If there’s a loss, I’ll cover it!"
