Chapter 199: Eat Soft Rice the Hard Way

Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Eat Soft Rice the Hard Way

Without grapes, nestled under the thatch-roofed grape trellis, Yang Fan was surrounded by warmth.

Having just gone through an intense and deep exchange, they were all somewhat weary now. Basking in the warm breeze of late spring, they chatted casually about their recent insights. In fact, Yang Fan was already getting restless; he was thinking about making money.

But the food Xiao Liu had cooked was still hot in the pot, and their bodies hadn’t recovered from the vigorous exercise. If he walked out now, Zhang Yulan would definitely tear him to pieces.

However, at that moment, an abrupt phone call shattered the sweet tenderness.

Yang Fan took out his phone from his pants pocket; it was a call from an unknown number.

He answered the call, "Hello."

But there was silence on the other end, no one spoke, just the chaotic noise of static.

Yang Fan checked his phone again; the signal was fine.

Probably just a wrong number, he guessed.

Just as he was thinking this and preparing to hang up, the person on the other end began to speak, "When are you free?"

A somewhat exhausted woman’s voice, as if she was still yawning.

Yang Fan’s brows furrowed slightly in confusion, "Who are you?"

"We’ve just met, Old Zhou offered two hundred thousand," the woman said.

Yang Fan suddenly realized; it was Tian Gaofei’s sister, Tian Miao.

"I’ll be free in about two hours," Yang Fan thought for a moment and said.

"Okay, call me later," Tian Miao said carelessly, "Oh, we need to make this clear ahead of time, I’m only responsible for getting you up, you can’t do anything else."

Yang Fan’s furrowed brows squeezed even tighter together, "Old Zhou didn’t say that, paying two hundred thousand just to get up, isn’t that a bit too much?"

"Then it’s not my problem. Isn’t getting up what you wanted, what else do you expect?" Tian Miao said, somewhat annoyed.

"Forget it then; I can spend that two hundred thousand on other women," Yang Fan said.

Old Zhou was certain this woman needed the money, so her current talk must just be an attempt to negotiate terms with Yang Fan.

Tian Miao suddenly became furious, "What’s wrong with you, you little rascal? It’s only two hundred thousand, and you’re thinking of taking advantage of me? I’m telling you, no chance, do it or drop it."

"Sister, this is two hundred thousand, not two thousand. Even if you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you wouldn’t regard two hundred thousand as mere chump change, would you?" Yang Fan scoffed, "Old Zhou is looking out for me, but that doesn’t mean you can treat me like a fool."

"Fuck off, are you crazy with lust or something? Who do you think I am?" Tian Miao suddenly cursed loudly.

Yang Fan’s expression turned cold abruptly, "Who do you think you are? Trash like you, you dare to say that!"

"You little brat, who are you calling trash? You’re the trash, your whole family is trash!" Tian Miao yelled furiously.

The sharp scolding reverberated through the phone, stirring Zhang Yulan and Xiao Liu, who had been eavesdropping, to sit up.

"Whore, you’re exactly right, your whole family are indeed trash!" Yang Fan cursed back and hung up the phone.

He forgot that Zhang Yulan and Xiao Liu were still by his side, and this matter... now seemed hard to explain.

Zhang Yulan looked at Yang Fan with a peculiar expression and said playfully, "You’re too busy making money to even visit me, yet you spend two hundred thousand on such a sharp-tongued woman. Little brother, your greed is a bit abnormal."

Although the tone was still joking, Yang Fan clearly sensed the chill in Zhang Yulan’s words.

She was angry.

In fact, she might even be fuming, simply holding it in.

Yang Fan tossed his phone aside, picked up the tea Zhang Yulan had made earlier, and took two big gulps before saying, "This matter is a bit of a long story. It all started when I couldn’t stand to see injustice, played the good villager, and saved a girl in a dark alley, which then led me to trouble with a bunch of crooks."

To dissipate the anger deep in Zhang Yulan’s heart, Yang Fan detailed the whole incident.

He told her everything, from saving Yu Hong Dou to Tian Gaofei cutting off his finances, dealing with Mr. and Mrs. Zhou, to the encounter at Han Palace.

In the end, he also shared the important parts of Old Zhou’s plan with Zhang Yulan.

After listening, Zhang Yulan’s already peculiar expression became even more bizarre, "You little rascal, why go to such lengths? If you had called me, I could have settled it with just one phone call. Did you really need to go through all this trouble?"

"Even if it didn’t cost money, just to make trouble, you’re not afraid of getting dirty with such a vile woman? I’m more concerned about your precious goods than you are. Let me tell you, you’re not allowed to do that."

Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Yang Fan said, "You just helped me settle things with Shen Lin recently. How could I have the shame to ask for your help with this? Although we’re close now, if I come to you with things like this too often, you’ll surely think I have ulterior motives. These things can affect our relationship."

Zhang Yulan gave Yang Fan a sidelong glance, not pleased, "It’s just your overthinking. These things are not troublesome for me at all. I don’t owe anybody anything; it’s just a matter of giving some people a heads-up to make them think twice, that’s all."

"But for me, it’s different," Yang Fan said earnestly.

Favors are a currency that diminishes with each use; he really didn’t want to ask for Zhang Yulan’s help unless it was absolutely necessary.

But now she was probably going to intervene regardless.

Zhang Yulan tapped Yang Fan’s chest with her finger and said with a seductive smile, "If you really think that way, from now on, just come over to see me more often and use your ’big guy’ to properly thank me. Make me nice and comfortable, and that will be enough."

"As for this matter, I’ll handle it for you. Since that Han Palace boss stepped in so forcefully, under normal circumstances, Wang Tianbao certainly wouldn’t be able to stay out of it. Since he’s fine now, he must have spent a lot of money. I’ll make a call, and push him back down."

"Once Wang Tianbao is in, Tian Gaofei and Tian Miao, that pair of accomplices, won’t be able to escape either, at least ten years to start."

"However, she just cursed you so fiercely, and I’m pretty annoyed by that. I need to let off some steam first. My own brother, and she dares to bare her teeth and bark like a dog—I’ll pull out all her fangs!"

Xiao Liu suddenly said with a ghostly tone from the side, "Sister Lan, maybe let the boss of Han Palace step in again? I happen to know her, and we have some closeness."

"Tie the person up and force them to work at Han Palace? This could somewhat vent our anger, but if we do this, it’s not quite appropriate," Zhang Yulan muttered, shaking her head.

Xiao Liu smiled faintly and suggested, "Since she likes to gamble, why not set up a trap?"

Zhang Yulan’s eyes lit up at once, "That’s a good idea. I’ve heard a bit about the boss of Han Palace; she’s no pushover. She definitely can force Tian Miao to work non-stop at Han Palace for three days and three nights. Then we can catch them all in one swoop—perfect."

Listening to the two women’s conversation, Yang Fan suddenly felt,

This freeloading life—truly delicious!
