Chapter 240: 187, Destiny

"Kill!" the Jiefan Guard drew his waist knife, fearlessly braving death as he came trudging through the snow.

As he charged back, another five or six Jiefan Guards arrived. The Jiefan Guards took off their straw raincoats and rushed towards Liang Mao’er with their swords drawn to strike.

When they got within ten paces of Liang Mao’er, they simultaneously removed their bamboo hats and flung them like hidden weapons towards him.

The bamboo hats tore through layers of snow curtains, spiraling towards him.

Liang Mao’er tried his best to dodge, but still got slashed by two bamboo hats on his arms and legs—the rims of the Jiefan Guard’s hats were embedded with blade edges, leaving behind bloody slashes.

The Jiefan Guards surrounded Liang Mao’er.

Liang Mao’er fought wildly without any tactics, resorting only to reckless and powerful charges. He repeatedly swatted away the Jiefan Guards’ blades and threw them aside, yet he consistently refrained from delivering deadly blows.

Still, he was heard muttering: "Men of Jianghu handle matters of Jianghu..."

Liang Gou’er understood his younger brother best; he was the tender-hearted one who would cry half the night over a dead chick when they were children. When their father intended to slaughter a cow, his foolish brother would embrace the cow’s neck, declaring, ’If you want to kill the cow, kill me first.’

Such a fool, wasting his innate immense strength— even if he possessed peerless Sword Skills, he wouldn’t take a life.

Liang Gou’er, irritated, turned around to lie on the rooftop, closing his eyes. Yet, he could still hear Liang Mao’er’s voice ringing in his ears: "Better to die with honor, than live by luck..."

As more Jiefan Guards gathered around Liang Mao’er, Liang Gou’er stood up from the rooftop.

"Stop it already!" he stood silently on the ridge, overlooking his younger brother. Ultimately, he sighed, "With such a soft heart, if I were to die, how could you survive?"

Just as a Jiefan Guard swung his sword from behind at Liang Mao’er, Liang Gou’er flicked the blade with his thumb.

With a clang that seemed to pierce the heavens, the pure sheathing sound resonated as though it was the very essence of martial arts from the universe!

Liang Gou’er still stood on the rooftop, his sword light brilliantly crossing the distance, splitting the Jiefan Guard who sneaked up on Liang Mao’er in two—all the way through, leaving a palm-deep crack on the stone path beneath the snow.

Overpowering! Unmatched!

A Jiefan Guard exclaimed, "Liang Family’s Saber Technique!"

Liang Family’s Saber Technique had no specific moves—they simply honed the essence of their saber intent to perfection.

In a breath’s time, killing intent was pure, devoid of petty tricks!

Liang Mao’er turned to his brother with a simple smile: "Brother, thank you."

Liang Gou’er retorted irritably, "Shut up!"

He lightly leaped down from the rooftop, standing in front of Liang Mao’er.

The next moment, as Liang Gou’er looked up at the incoming Jiefan Guards—more of them crowding around—

he spoke without turning back to Liang Mao’er, "Silly Mao’er, our Liang family has never crossed the threshold of divinity. Dad always said this task should fall to you; I hope he wasn’t wrong. Today, let me show you what true Liang Family’s Saber Technique is—whether you learn it or not, it’s fate."

Facing hundreds of Jiefan Guards, Liang Gou’er stood tall, throwing his head back. He took a deep breath, the wind and snow swirling into his mouth, as if inhaling the essence of the world.

He drew his sword!

In an instant, the sword light illuminated the night; the snow cascaded upwards!

...

...

On the stone steps of the inner prison, Chen Ji quickly walked down.

In the darkness, a Crossbow Arrow shot towards him. Chen Ji slightly tilted his head to dodge, and caught the arrow feather by his ear with a following motion of his hand.

He then threw it back into the darkness; a muffled groan followed, and then the sound of someone quickly running away.

Chen Ji draped the gray cloth back over his face, hurried down the stone steps, entering the corridor of the inner prison.

Over a dozen prison guards came charging at him, yet Chen Ji didn’t stop his steps and headed straight towards them.

In the cells on both sides, prisoners from Prince Jing Mansion and the Liu Family were still detained, crying out while clinging to the bars, "Save us, only us!"

Chen Ji met the prison guards in the narrow corridor— in an instant, he seized a knife, swung it, all in one fluid motion!

A prison guard exclaimed, "It’s not, it’s Innate!"

Chen Ji’s expression was steely as he advanced, sword in hand, step by step.

Amidst the clashing sounds in the corridor, She Dengke ran to the cell where Chunhua was detained, embracing her through the bars, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here to save you."

Chunhua pouted, suppressing her crying, "You fool, why did you come? Aren’t you afraid of dying? They are so many, hurry and leave!"

She Dengke hurriedly reassured, "It’s okay, Even if I have to die, I want to die with you... Just wait a moment, I’ll go help."

As he turned his head back to the corridor, he saw that dozens of prison guards were already lying on the ground. He didn’t need to help after all.

Covered in blood, Chen Ji gasped for air, pulling a bunch of keys from a prison guard’s waist. He picked out the key to A-7 Prison Cell, and then threw the rest to She Dengke: "Open the door and save Chunhua."

She Dengke caught the keys, fumbling to insert the key into the lock, all while watching Chen Ji run deeper in.

Chen Ji ran swiftly, the door to A-7 Prison Cell growing closer and closer.

As he approached, he wiped the blood off his face and looked down, checking that his wounds were not visible before he felt relieved.

But when Chen Ji arrived at the door of A-7 Prison Cell, he suddenly froze.

Standing in front of the prison cell, he seemed as if he had just experienced an explosion, with a constant buzzing in his ears.

Inside the cell, there was only the Princely Heir; Bai Li was not there.

He watched the Princely Heir clutch the bars, his mouth moving, but Chen Ji could no longer hear what was being said. It was as if he were submerged underwater, with thick black lake water tightly engulfing him, not knowing where it flowed.

Chen Ji snapped back to reality and angrily demanded, "Where is the Commandery Princess?"

The Princely Heir approached the door, saying, "Today, Bai Long took her away by himself; I don’t know where!"

"Why did he take the Commandery Princess away alone?"

"I don’t know!"
