GREED: ALL FOR WHAT? -
Chapter 2268 2268: Too Busy.
If he is lucky, his gang will be one of the new gangs that are chosen to participate in the new round of the game. He won't need to risk his life for it at all.
Even if he is not lucky enough to be selected to control a territory at the beginning of the new game, he can always challenge a gang that was selected and take their place.
So there is no need for him to fight to the death for his territory. Unfortunately, he couldn't leave because if he did, the Golden Hammer gang would be able to annex his territory without a fight.
If that were to happen, the Golden Hammer gang, who currently control 5 districts, will add the 2 districts belonging to him to theirs and possess 7 districts out of the total 33.
With this, they will be on their way to winning this round of the game. No one wants to see that. Not him and not even his enemies want to see the Golden Hammer gang win the game.
The Dark Hand gang, who used to be the largest gang with control of 5 districts, in particular don't want to see the Golden Hammer gang gain control of 7 territories. So they, the noble supporting them, and many others put pressure on the machinist to continue fighting.
Apart from pressure, they also gave him resources in terms of money, manpower, and resources. This is why the machinist decided to keep fighting.
Now that he has made up his mind to fight, he doesn't care about what will happen with the territory of the rank 5 undying godclad who died without resisting. He is more concerned about why the undying godclad didn't try to resist and how to prevent that from happening to him.
Legion also doesn't care about who will get those two districts. They, too, have a lot on their plate recently.
They are busy with taking over Rack's territory and employing more members to manage their large territory. They have to interview all of these new members, which took some of their attention.
They are also busy setting up the machinist. This one also doesn't require much work from them. After all, they have already put the plan into place, and the plan is already working. But they have to spare some attention to follow the progress of the plan and make sure that nothing goes wrong.
The third thing that they are busy with is reading and acquiring more information. This is something that they are always doing in their spare time now that they have access to a large library of information.
Currently, their minds have been fixated on what the legendary telepaths are gaining from the mindscape. This is part of their investigation into the Mindscape.
But there has been some divergence in their investigation, such as research into how the rank 4 divine ability of merchants works and how the rank 6 divine ability of the pathway of nobles works.
To be fair, they are curious about these two abilities because they are targeting the Edwin family and the other noble families of Reinfield City. They want to know more about their current and future enemies.
They already know what the two abilities are and how they work on the surface. But they want to know the weaknesses and limitations of the divine abilities so that they can prepare better.
So while everyone else is concerned about the competition for the two free districts, one of their souls is in the Mindscape reading books while other souls are busy in the real world.
Four of their twelve souls are controlling their body and are busy activating divine abilities of their four pathways in order to train them and gain mastery, one soul is overseeing the actions of their slaves and giving them orders, one soul is monitoring the fate weaver in particular during the interview, and finally one soul is monitoring the situation of the scheme against the machinist.
That makes 8 souls in total. The other four are in place to take over from the other souls when they get tired.
The four souls controlling the body and activating divine abilities for training are the ones that need help the most. So there are exactly four souls who can take over from them.
All of them are busy and are achieving something. Even the soul in the library has gained a lot of useful information about the Power of Wealth divine ability and the Ancestral Power divine ability.
In regard to the Power of Wealth divine ability, the clone discovered that there are many rules that determine how much power the rank 4 divine ability will provide for the money used to support it.
These rules have been summarized into a formula. This formula was penned by a merchant and confirmed by numerous other merchants to be a fairly accurate way to determine the boost from the Power of Wealth divine ability.
The formula is total wealth ÷ ((value of life × rank) × 100/skill mastery)). Total wealth being the amount of money in gold coins that has been stored within the divine ability and used to fuel the boost from the divine ability.
The rank in the formula refers to the rank of the user of the Power of Wealth divine ability. Skill mastery is also fairly straightforward. It is the percentage of mastery of the divine ability. This mastery will determine the efficiency of the Power of Wealth divine ability.
All of these factors are fairly straightforward except the value of life. The value of life is very difficult to determine. For example, a rank 4 merchant that is alone won't have a life that is as valuable as that of another merchant that is part of a big noble family or a merchant that has two pathways.
In the intuitive sense, the value of life is how difficult it would be to kill someone and how many repercussions killing that person would bring. This is easy to understand, as not everyone is equal.
