Chapter 285 - 204: Laurel

Chapter 285: Chapter 204: Laurel

How could one board the flagship of the Silver Lotus Family?

This sounded like an impossible task.

As the current head of the family’s ship, it was equipped with the most rigorous security system in the entire universe, and only those who had been invited by the family had any chance of boarding the flagship.

But, as far as Earth Wolf Twelve knew, up to this point, no one outside the Shan Clan People had ever boarded that flagship named "Laurel," and even within the Shan Clan, only a handful of individuals at the very top of the Chamber of Commerce’s power hierarchy had ever been granted the privilege of boarding the vessel.

After yesterday’s banquet, the current family head, Morgan VII, returned to the flagship and had no schedule to come back to Gear Hotel before the summit meeting formally ended.

The decorations in the top-floor luxury restaurant had also been taken down, and Morgan VII seemed intent on staying aboard his ship, patiently waiting for the conference to conclude.

Perhaps he had an early intuition that, regardless of the twists and turns during the process, the outcome would definitely develop in the direction the Shan Clan People desired.

Because such had always been the case with the changes in this universe.

With wealth and power in their grasp, it was tantamount to controlling destiny, and destiny always unfolded in the direction they expected.

Nevertheless, Earth Wolf Twelve still utilized his connections and called on an expert in boarding battles he knew.

The Mocking Pigeon and the Eastern Battlefront’s proudest achievement was close-quarter boarding battles, having conquered over a dozen corporate battleship cruisers using this strategy.

"Have you two gone insane?"

That was the Mocking Pigeon’s comment after hearing about the ideas of Earth Wolf Twelve and Duan Mingyuan, her eyes wide and staring at the Interstellar Cowboy, "Why do I feel like you’ve gone mad ever since you arrived at Mechanical Star?"

This seemed utterly inconceivable to her.

Setting aside Duan Mingyuan, the "rookie," for a moment, Earth Wolf Twelve had personally assassinated a big shot before, and that had only been a corporate department director, not even having touched the core layers of the Consortium, and it nearly rendered him unable to continue mixing in this universe. Had it not been for the Chamber of Commerce’s aid when he was at the end of his rope, this Interstellar Cowboy would probably have become cosmic debris long ago.

In interstellar warfare, no matter how strong one’s individual combat ability was, it didn’t matter if the flagship got blown up; everyone aboard would have to die with it.

"This is different from switching sides. Are you thinking of declaring war on both the corporations and the Chamber of Commerce at the same time?"

Mocking Pigeon placed her hands on Earth Wolf Twelve’s shoulders and shook him vigorously, seemingly trying to awaken this abnormally thinking Interstellar Cowboy.

"Don’t make it sound like we’re going to assassinate Morgan VII. We just want to board the ship and see what’s going on. If this continues, how can the meeting still go on?"

Earth Wolf Twelve said.

This was definitely the most disaster-ridden summit meeting in history, and he had the bad luck of being responsible for the security of this event, "Today it’s poisoning in combat competitions; tomorrow someone might dare to bring a bomb into the meeting. One slip, and these directors will all be blown to the heavens."

"Don’t you understand? Whether it’s an assassination attempt on Morgan VII isn’t for you to decide; the ultimate interpretation rests with the family. If they say you are an assassin, then you are an assassin."

Attempted assassination of the current family head, then becoming a wanted fugitive across the entire universe.

Mocking Pigeon could already foresee the future of these two men.

Of course, another possibility was that they could be directly eradicated by the security system of the Laurel.

There were plenty who wanted Morgan VII dead, and Earth Wolf Twelve wasn’t the first to try infiltrating Laurel. Mocking Pigeon had heard that those who had tried before had never reappeared; the Silver Lotus Family had never publicly disclosed the identities or outcomes of these intruders, as if they had never existed.

"Just tell us if you can help us smuggle aboard."

Earth Wolf Twelve waved his hand, adopting a resolute look, "The provocateurs aren’t us. The family never intended to let this meeting end peacefully."

"No!"

As Mocking Pigeon spoke, she glanced away, obviously not adept at lying.

"I knew you’d have a way, Old Duan, what did I say? Mocking Pigeon, she’s the best jump-ship combat expert the entire universe has ever seen, there’s no ship she can’t board!"

"You don’t understand at all, getting on that ship isn’t the hard part, but once you’re on, you can never get off."

Mocking Pigeon clenched her teeth and said.

Of course, she understood Earth Wolf Twelve’s thinking; if it had been her, she wouldn’t have been able to stand it either and would have demanded an explanation from the family, "Not a single assassin who boarded before has ever come down."

And Morgan VII was still alive, having attended last night’s banquet, which was enough to showcase the fate of those assassins.

They had once been top-notch professionals, their fame spreading across the universe, but without exception, they all met with the same end: "disappearance."

To this day, no one knew what existed aboard the Laurel or what those assassins had encountered before they disappeared.

"You don’t need to worry about that; we are different."

"What’s different?"

"Isn’t Old Duan here?"

Earth Wolf Twelve heavily patted Duan Mingyuan’s shoulder. Following a series of recent events, Duan Mingyuan had become the only top T0-level human rights character he revered.

This was a being who could heal, buff you, and if necessary, blow up the opposition—a three-bodied person with no weaknesses.

These four characteristics summed up his assessment of Duan Mingyuan.

If this were a card-drawing universe adventure-themed game, he would’ve spent money to max out Duan Mingyuan’s potential long ago.

"You?"

Mocking Pigeon looked at Duan Mingyuan with a skeptical eye, "You have a way to get off the Laurel?"

"I’ll try my best."

Duan Mingyuan said, as he had been pondering a question all along.

Mocking Pigeon was right, the right to define their identities laid with the Silver Lotus Family; they could be guests or uninvited assassins, and that brought up a new problem.

If the family decided they were assassins and issued an expensive bounty on them, wouldn’t they be at a loss if they disembarked without assassinating Morgan VII?

This thought had been troubling Duan Mingyuan, so he could only promise Mocking Pigeon he would do his best not to become a real assassin.

"Try your best?"

Mocking Pigeon frowned and said, "’Guarantee’ would be better."

Duan Mingyuan nodded and corrected himself, "I’ll try my best to guarantee."

Mocking Pigeon held her forehead, then let out a long sigh. She took out a communicator and stuffed it into Earth Wolf Twelve’s storage slot without explanation, "Once you board the Laurel, all your external communications will likely be blocked. If you encounter danger on the ship, find a way to drill a hole and use this communicator to contact me."

"But then you’d become an accomplice..."

"I have my methods."

Mocking Pigeon said, "The time is tonight, and I will try to get you inside the Laurel by using a spatial delivery storage... don’t die up there."
