Great! I'm surrounded by villains! -
Chapter 131 - 51: The Envoy from Heaven
Chapter 131: Chapter 51: The Envoy from Heaven
The conversation between the two was whispered, yet it clearly reached everyone.
The Second Prince was trembling all over with extreme fear. He couldn’t believe his ears and turned around, fixing his gaze on the pitch-black armor received by one of the "Long Branch" operatives.
This was his teacher.
An invincible presence from the heavens, one that could only be looked up to.
And now, it had ceased to breathe.
The battle over the ownership of the academy had thus settled, and the outcome was... every person here would die.
To murder a messenger from the heavens was a heinous crime.
The furrowed brows of the middle-aged man said it all.
He stared at Duan Mingyuan, "I’d like to hear the specifics of the process."
"The process was actually very simple. Mr. Tian Yun and I met in the library and discussed the issue of ’leaving immediately.’ I promised to leave right away and that no one would get hurt, but not only did Mr. Tian Yun not appreciate the gesture, he also attacked me."
Duan Mingyuan paused, a look of regret on his face, "Then it was a standard self-defense, conforming to all legal provisions for self-defense. I think you would understand that in such a battle, it’s very difficult for both sides to hold back."
He had no choice but to conceal Jiuyue’s presence.
If the company knew that the number one fugitive of the Star Zone was in Yunhai Academy, the entire incident could very likely be twisted into an anti-terrorism operation, and Tian Yun and the Second Prince could shed their identities as invaders, to be dubbed by the media as anti-terrorist warriors.
This was their usual tactic.
Duan Mingyuan raised his hands to show he meant no harm, "As the instructor for ’Evil Spirit Defense Class’ at the academy, I was merely performing my duty."
The arrival of the company made the academy’s situation extremely unfavorable. Aside from the three "Long Branch" members, there was a flagship hanging above their heads that was said to be equipped with weapons capable of destroying a city in an instant.
But this also fit the usual characteristics of extraterrestrial evil spirits—defeat one, and a host will come forth.
Duan Mingyuan’s gaze swept over the three "Long Branch" members, looking up at the flagship in the night sky. He had never before faced such an enormous evil spirit war machine.
He had always emphasized to Jiuyue that one must be prepared for the worst in everything, and right now, the worst situation was undoubtedly to be engaged in battle with more than three "Long Branch" members and a flagship of the company simultaneously. If it were a week before, this wouldn’t have been his concern at all.
If the company lost so many people and a flagship all at once, the aftermath would likely be much more difficult to manage.
"This, this is an internal affair of the Imperial Court. According to the agreement between the Imperial Court and the company, the company has no right to interfere."
Even though her voice and legs were trembling, Ning Ruyue still spoke out.
She felt like she might have exhausted all the courage of her life, as when the cold scanners on the helmets of the mechanical creatures targeted her, she almost collapsed to the ground.
Let alone fight these mechanical beings, just standing firm in front of them required all her strength.
The rest of the Yunhai Four were also frozen in place by that suffocating sense of oppression.
Any rash action would lead to a deadly end.
This thought was deeply engraved in every one of their hearts.
"Elder Princess."
The middle-aged man glanced at Ning Ruyue, saying, "This is our first meeting, my name on this planet is ’Qing Hua,’ and I am the head of the Cosmic Coordination Department of Universe Company."
Despite a vague premonition, when Qing Hua disclosed his identity, the fear that seemed to be written into their genetic sequences awakened.
That included the Second Prince, who couldn’t even move a finger.
Even without anyone to clean up after them, he certainly did not wish for Qing Hua to appear here.
"You’re right, the Imperial Court has indeed signed agreements with the company and on certain policy issues, we only have the right to provide suggestions."
Qing Hua acknowledged Ning Ruyue’s statement.
Of course, everyone knew that for the company, "suggestions" and "orders" were basically synonymous, and all the red tape was just to make them appear to be fostering relations rather than colonizing plunder.
If the Imperial Court rejected the company’s suggestions, they would, in the interest of peace, recommend a sovereign who could take their suggestions to heart.
Even the Prime Monarch was no exception.
"Taking Yunhai Academy under the control of the Imperial Court was indeed a suggestion provided by us. I care for this planet and thought it would be a unified solution, but you all made me realize this approach overlooked human sentiment and could hurt people’s emotions.
"I want to thank you for letting the company see there are still some flaws in our current work method... and congratulations on making your way back to the competition," Qing Hua said. Meanwhile, he gave a sidelong glance to Duan Mingyuan, then signaled with his eyes to the nearby "Long Branch" members, "However, we still have some affairs to discuss with the Second Prince about the Imperial Court, so if you don’t mind, I’ll take him with me."
Neither Mo Song nor Duan Mingyuan had a reason to refuse Qing Hua’s suggestion.
The duty of an ’Evil Spirit Defense Class’ instructor was to protect the safety of the academy, not to incite an interstellar war.
Duan Mingyuan had always been actively seeking to solve disputes through peaceful means, hoping to set an example for his students by his actions.
Force was essential but often not the first choice to resolve conflicts.
If Tian Yun had understood this, he could now be safely returning to his own room aboard the flagship.
Opening a can of chilled soda and a few vacuum-packed snacks, then turning on the TV in his room to enjoy his off-duty moments in relaxation.
"Mr. Mingyuan."
Before leaving, Qing Hua seemed to suddenly remember something. He stopped, giving Duan Mingyuan a deep look, "It’s a pleasure to meet you, it’s just that I am presently too tied up with affairs to spare time, but I look forward to seeing you in the Imperial Court soon."
He had already adjusted his emotions, his face wearing a trademark artificial smile.
As the head of the Cosmic Coordination Department, he ought to maintain a good image on every planet, at least appearing like a true emissary of peace on television and in the newspapers.
A beam of light from the flagship shone on him.
Bathed in the light, Qing Hua looked like a messenger heeding the call of the heavens, his figure fading slowly.
The three "Long Branch" members, the Second Prince, and the assassins of Yin Die followed in quick succession.
Then, the light faded away.
The flagship suspended high above disappeared, as if it had never existed.
The teachers and students of the academy saw the dim moon once more, and along with the moonlight that once again enveloped the land, a sense of relief from surviving a calamity welled up in them.
The invasion was over.
And they...
With a sense of uncertainty about the future, they had temporarily survived.
