Chapter 81: Evaluation: Martial Artists
Chapter 81: Evaluation: Martial Artists
Because of the Combat Visor, even though the enemies had deliberately turned off the lights, Gabriel could still see clearly.
He did a headcount with his eyes and realized he had been surrounded by at least a dozen Awakened—both mages and warriors. Every single one of them gave off the aura of at least a Level 15-20.
"You’ve been surrounded, intruder," one of the men spoke up, pointing a large curved blade at him. "Take off that mask and reveal who sent you."
At these words, Crimson Judgement slowly materialized in Gabriel’s grasp.
That was all the warriors needed—without hesitation, they all lunged at him at once.
Of course, Gabriel didn’t just stand idly and watch the Awakened attack. He quickly dashed toward the closest one.
That unfortunate warrior was startled, not expecting the enemy to move with such speed. He hurriedly brought his sword up to block the strike.
However, Crimson Judgement split the sword in half and easily severed the warrior’s head from his shoulders.

[Ding! You have received 10 EP]
[Ding! You have received experience points!]

When he saw the notification, a small smile crept onto his face.
’Maybe this trap isn’t that bad,’ he thought as he dashed toward another mage.
The mage lifted her staff, arms trembling. Out of nervousness—and due to overcharging the attack—her spell exploded right in her face.
At the same time, Gabriel arrived before her and cut her down.
"What the hell is this guy?!" one of the warriors screamed as Gabriel zipped past, slicing off his comrade’s arm. "Such speed!"
They were simply no match.

Back in the hallways, a frown appeared on Alice’s face as she heard the sounds of fighting.
She glanced at the maid, who was sweating profusely with a nervous look on her face.
"Y-you tricked him, didn’t you?" Alice asked sharply.
The maid remained silent, trying to avoid her gaze.
Alice frowned and crossed her arms. "No wonder he left the bear behind. He never trusted you from the beginning."
"Let me guess—the left is actually the direction of Vellin’s room?" She facepalmed.
"Y-yes, it is," the head maid stuttered. "The right is the residential area of Master’s special force."
"So you thought it was a good idea to trick him? Thinking they’d be able to deal with him?" Alice glared.
The maid bit her lip. Although she didn’t say anything, one could see a puddle of water forming beneath her feet.
Alice noticed and shifted away with disgust on her face. Unfortunately, no matter how angry she was, she couldn’t interfere—after all, there was a reason it was called an Evaluation.
"You really thought sending him into a death trap was clever?" Alice snorted. "Girl, if I were you... I’d drink poison before he comes back."
When the maid heard this, she bit her lip even harder, drawing blood. Her fists clenched as she pondered her life decisions.
Right at that moment, Alice glanced at her timer.
She looked in the direction of the fight and mumbled, "70 minutes remaining"
---
Meanwhile, the dark hallway was illuminated by countless magic attacks and the sound of swords slicing through the air.
"Bunch of weaklings," Gabriel spat in an irritated tone as he casually split a warrior in two.
Because he was in a hurry, he didn’t bother wasting time on these weaklings. He easily cut them down one after another, not even utilizing any magic skills.
Currently, only about five enemies remained, and these five were having mixed feelings about attacking or retreating after seeing the one-sided beatdown.
"Should we retreat? This guy’s too strong!"
"Retreat?" a warrior growled. "That’s impossible—you know how Boss Khaor is! He would definitely make our lives even more difficult!"
"Mana Blast!" a mage shouted, firing a condensed mana shot.
But the attack was cut down by Gabriel, who arrived before the mage and swiftly sent him to the afterlife.
With the mage dealt with, the remaining swordsmen and warriors were easily finished off as well.
The scene was gruesome, with pools of blood and limbs scattered everywhere.
His expression remained calm, and if one were to see him right now, they’d think he did this routinely.
---
Back in the hallway, the head maid’s heart pounded fiercely as she realized the fighting had stopped.
Alice smirked. "Told you."
Step! Step!
Right at that moment, footsteps echoed—and Gabriel emerged from the other side, not even a trace of blood on him. The only thing dripping was Crimson Judgement, soaked in red.
The head maid immediately fell to her knees, palms clasped together. "Please forgive me!"
"I assume that way is the correct direction?" he asked.
"Y-yes!" she nodded rapidly, almost slamming her head to the ground.
Without saying another word, he began walking in that direction, Alice quietly following behind.
The head maid sighed in relief, thinking her life had been spared—until she heard the cold command.
"Grizzlenaught," Gabriel said without even glancing back, "clean up the trash."
"ARGHHHH! Nooooooo!!!"
Hearing the painful scream, Alice didn’t dare turn back for fear of what she might see.
She subconsciously swallowed a mouthful of saliva, and the way she looked at Gabriel changed slightly.
For the rest of their walk, she remained quiet.
"What happened... why are you so silent all of a sudden?" he asked.
Alice stuttered. "N-no-nothing. Just pretend as if I’m not here."
Hearing this, he couldn’t help but smirk.
’So that’s how I can get her to shut up? Noted.’
Meanwhile, Alice’s mind was in turmoil.
’His ruthlessness... it’s as if I’m watching Sister all over again... How can they both have so much in common?’
---
Just like the head maid had described, after walking for a few minutes, Gabriel soon sensed two presences ahead.
He moved closer and noticed two towering men standing guard in front of a door.
But these were not just any guards.
Both wore loose robes with golden tiger embroidery and iron gauntlets. Their muscles rippled with strength, and their eyes held the calm of seasoned killers.
"Your target is within those doors," Alice whispered. "But those two... they won’t be as easy as the others."
His expression turned serious, and for once, he agreed with her. "Yes. I can feel that."
